“Yes,” Emory answered as Remington wrapped his arms around her.
“Congratulations, guys,” Spencer said.
“Congrats, Emmie,” Davina said, hugging her. Jessalyn followed.
“That’s definitely good news,” Giovanni said. “I’m happy for you guys.”
“Me, too,” Kenton said. “Congrats, bruh.”
“Thanks, Kent.”
“I wonder who’ll be next?” Davina asked.
“It’s liable to be any of us,” Joelle said.
“Not me.” Davina chuckled. “I’m talking about you married people.”
“It’ll be the one we least expect, like…Kenton and Lauren,” Jessalyn said, waggling her brows.
Lauren giggled. “You hear that, Kenton. We just got back together and they’re already trying to give us a baby.”
Kenton took Lauren into his embrace and said, “It will be an honor for you to be the mother of my babies.”
Lauren blushed.
“Whoa…whoa...” Remington said. “You gotta give her your last name before you start talking like that.”
“I intend to,” Kenton said, before taking a kiss from her lips. “No more games,” he told her. “No more running from what I want…what I need. I need you, Lauren,” he declared in front of everyone as he breathed against her lips, “And I promise you, this time, I’ll make it forever.”
Lauren smiled while blinking away the mist in her eyes.
Kenton slapped her on the butt and said, “Now, go huddle up with the girls and get ready for this butt whippin’ I’m about to deliver.”
“Whatever, Kenton.”
He watched her walk away, smiling as she did so. He realized his mistake of letting Lauren go before. He wouldn’t do it again. Looking at her now he saw a different woman – saw her in a way he should’ve seen back then. He was too stuck in his own way, too dumb to appreciate her for the woman she was but now, he did. She was a strong woman. A woman who would one day be the mother of his children. A woman who already fit in well with his family. They had a lot of kinks to iron out, but in due time, they’d come to an understanding of what they both wanted. What they both needed. They would be on the same wavelength and it would be then, at that moment, that he would lower himself to a knee and ask her for her hand in marriage.
