ABOUT THE AUTHORS
STANLEY WIATER has been called “the world’s leading authority on horror filmmakers and authors” (Radio-TV Interview Report) and “the master journalist of the dark genres” (World of Fandom). He has recently begun production, as both writer and host, on a television series inspired by his award-winning series of Dark Dreamers books.
His first collection of exclusive interviews, Dark Dreamers: Conversations with the Masters of Horror, won the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement from the Horror Writers Association. A companion volume, Dark Visions: Conversations with the Masters of the Horror Film, was a Bram Stoker Award finalist. Comic Book Rebels: Conversations with the Creators of the New Comics, co-authored with Stephen R. Bissette, was both an Eisner Award and a Harvey Award nominee. Dark Thoughts: On Writing, a “best of” compilation, also won the Bram Stoker Award. A collaboration with acclaimed photographer Beth Gwinn led to a unique collection of photographs and interviews in Dark Dreamers: Facing the Masters of Fear.
Wiater’s first published short story, “The Toucher,” was the sole winner of a 1980 competition judged by none other than Stephen King. He has been interviewing and writing about King for more than two decades.

CHRISTOPHER GOLDEN is the award-winning, Los Angeles Times–bestselling author of such nonfiction works as Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Watcher’s Guide, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Monster Book, and CUT!: Horror Writers on Horror Film, for which he received the Bram Stoker Award. As a journalist, his work has appeared in such publications as Disney Adventures, The Boston Globe, Billboard, and Hero Illustrated, and for several years he wrote a regular column for the international service BPI Entertainment News Wire.
Golden’s teen thriller series Body of Evidence was recently optioned by Viacom Television, and he is currently developing a second series for teens with Pocket Books.
His novels include Strangewood, The Shadow Saga trilogy, and Straight on ’til Morning, as well as Hellboy: The Lost Army, among others. He has also written or co-written nine Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels.
As a comic book writer, his work has included Batman Chronicles, Wolverine/Punisher, The Crow, Spider-Man Unlimited, Angel, Blade, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the creator-owned Thundergod.
Before becoming a full-time writer, he was licensing manager for Billboard magazine in New York, where he worked on Fox Television’s Billboard Music Awards and American Top 40 radio, among many other projects.

HANK WAGNER is a prolific and respected critic and interviewer. Among the publications where his work has appeared are Cemetery Dance, Horror, Wetbones, Nova Express, Mystery Scene, Dark Echo, Hellnotes, and The New York Review of Science Fiction. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and four daughters. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1982, and received his J.D. from Seton Hall University in 1985 and an L.L.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1991. Wagner is currently working on Thrillers: 100 Must-Reads, with David Morrell, author of First Blood (1972) and Creepers (2005).
