When he felt he’d truly reached the limit to the pleasure he could endure without coming, Eric moved behind Brianne and guided his tip to her smaller opening. He pressed carefully and felt the ring of muscle stretch to accommodate him.
Brianne cried out loudly and froze.
Eric paused, giving her time to acclimate. They’d had anal sex occasionally, but being filled both front and back must be super intense. Josh waited too, pausing buried deep inside her.
Eric pushed further, gliding into Brianne’s tight channel on a slick of lube. And then he felt it. On the other side of the membrane that divided them, Josh’s cock against his as he moved again. Eric gritted his teeth. The feeling was so unbelievable it threatened to overwhelm him. He slowly withdrew, breathing hard against the back of Brianne’s neck, strands of her hair caught in his mouth. Then he pushed again, deeper, and held still once more.
Eric closed his eyes and surrendered to the amazing feeling of Brianne pinned between them. He pulled out and Josh thrust. Josh withdrew and Eric returned. Brianne whimpered, but when Eric asked if she was okay, she only nodded. “Don’t stop!”
They started a slow, easy rhythm back and forth with Brianne caught between them. Eric reached around, gripped flesh and realized it was Josh’s hip he was holding, not Brianne’s.
Primal need swelled through him, a desire to possess and to be possessed, to join with these two people in any way that would bring them even closer. Eric pumped a little harder, no longer timing his strokes with Josh’s. When he again felt Josh’s cock so close yet separate from his, his climax crashed over him with such intense pleasure he yelled.
Erci gripped Josh’s ass hard while the wave of ecstasy shuddered through him, and rested his forehead against Brianne’s shoulder, breathing deeply while he recovered.
His cock was still buried so he felt Josh bumping madly before he also came with a hoarse shout. Brianne’s moans escalated to fever pitch, and she yowled like a cat when she released.
Afterwards, Brianne blew out a long, shaky breath. Eric leaned over her shoulder to kiss her flushed cheek and she smiled at him.
Josh’s head rested on a pillow, dark hair tousled in wild curls. His chest rose and fell rapidly. His gaze met theirs and a smile quirked a corner of his mouth. He began to laugh, and Brianne joined in with her throaty chuckle. Eric smiled as the same joy bubbled up in him. There was no feeling of awkwardness or doubt about what they’d done. Their threesome seemed right and perfect, an experience never to forget or equal.
Brianne still smiled as she said, “We should have tried this a long time ago.”
“My plane doesn’t leave until tomorrow afternoon,” Josh said. “We have time for a lot more experiments before then.”
Josh’s words sent a new flutter of curiosity through Eric. What other experiments could Josh come up with? He was a very inventive guy. Eric decided it wouldn’t take him long to bounce back for round two.
A little later, lying quietly and listening to his friends’ breathing deepen as they drifted into sleep, the warmth of the moment slowly faded to be replaced by melancholy yearning. This amazing moment in time that would be over very soon. These two shining people, bright flames both of them, would burn even brighter somewhere else, and Eric would be left alone in darkness.
A darkness of his own choosing, Brianne would tell him. And she was right, of course. If he wanted his life to change, he must force that change, not wallow in self-pity. So he’d take these community college classes and see where they led. He’d try to get a better job and make new friends.
But, oh, he would Josh and Brianne when they were gone. Especially Brianne. In these few short weeks she’d become a part of him and not just some fantasy girl. She’d encouraged him to believe in his future, and empowered him to imagine he could challenge himself and become a different person.
He would miss Josh, but he’d mourn the loss of Brianne.
Epilogue
“Do you want to get out of here?” Brianne asked.
“Huh?” Eric’s mind had drifted as he toyed with the straw in his empty milkshake glass. He wondered how Josh liked New York. They hadn’t heard from him since the day they saw him off at the airport.
“We’ve been sitting in this diner for, like, two hours. We should go walk on the beach.”
“Sure.” He got up and took her hand to help her from the booth.
Walking out of the restaurant was like stepping into a tropical rain forest, the evening was so humid. But as they approached the ocean, a breeze blew off the water, ruffling Eric’s hair and lifting it off his hot neck.
Listening to the rolling surf and smelling the briny air brought him back to the night when they’d first kissed on the beach, only been a month ago but it seemed much longer. At the same time, it felt as if this summer had passed in the blink of an eye. Brianne would leave in another week.
They walked from the boardwalk onto the hard-packed sand, carrying their sandals in one hand and swinging their joined hands. They stopped to examine the ruins of a child’s sand castle, then watched the lights of some passing ships.
After about a quarter mile, Brianne suggested they sit for a while. Once again Eric sat with Brianne between his legs, her head against his chest, her body in the circle of his arms. He stroked his palm over her bare stomach beneath her top, feeling the texture of her skin. The never-ending waves broke against the shore, and Eric thought the evening was just about perfect.
“I’ve been thinking about long-distance relationships,” Brianne said. “Josh was right. They never work out.”
“Uh-huh.” His peaceful mood evaporated at the reminder of their upcoming separation.
“I was wondering why you have to stay here. Is your brother totally counting on you to work with him? You could get a job somewhere else. Anyplace you wanted. Like near Berkeley. My dad would pay for me to have an apartment instead of living in a dorm. He’s so full of guilt he’ll do about anything I want right now. If you and I lived together, you wouldn’t have to pay rent, so you could put your money toward taking classes. There’s a city college nearby. So, what do you think?”
Eric couldn’t have been more shocked if she’d asked him to have her baby. This sort of commitment was beyond anything he’d ever expected from Brianne. In his daydreams he’d imagined her staying here with him. It had never occurred to him he might go with her or that she’d even want him past this summer. Was this merely a whim, a passing idea she’d regret later when they were stuck together in an apartment and she didn’t have the heart to ask him to leave?
“I don’t know,” he said hesitantly. “I’ve never thought about something like that.”
“Well, think about it…fast. We don’t have much time left. I should have said something sooner, but it only just occurred to me.”
“Are you sure you’re not...” Afraid to be on your own? “You won’t change your mind after a while?”
“You think I’m being impulsive.” Brianne shook her head, her hair tickling his chin. “I’m not, I promise you. I’m a naturally gifted shopper. After I see what I want and go for it, I never make a return. I have an eye for quality merchandise and know exactly what fits me.”
He kissed her head and squeezed her body in his arms, his heart overflowing with love for this quirky girl. “But you’re asking me to give up so much. Look at all I have going here,” he teased.
“All right, you can bring Carl with you if you absolutely must.”
“Somebody’s got to look out for him.” After a few moments of considering her proposition, Eric added, “Seriously though, I’d have to pay rent or I’d feel like...”
“My boy toy? Sure. I get that. How about you buy the groceries and keep the apartment clean in exchange for living there rent free. I warn you, I’m a super slob. Would that be okay?”
The idea of playing house with Brianne, starting a new life together however it played out, was too tempting. “I think that’d be fine.”
“Goo
d!” She pulled away and turned to look at him. Her brows drew together over serious eyes. “I want you to know I’ve thought about this hard. I’m not just using you as a crutch because I don’t like to be alone. Or maybe I am a little, but so what? I’m tired of having no one I can count on in my life, not my parents, or even Josh, really. You’re like a rock, solid and dependable. And I want you to know you can count on me like that. You can lean on me too.” Her voice quavered and her eyes shone.
Eric’s throat went tight. He’d never, in his wildest dreams, imagined Brianne making a promise like this to him. The funny thing was he believed her. He knew how stubborn she could be, and for whatever reason, she’d committed herself to him.
He smiled. “All right. We’ll do it. Thank you for asking me. I never would’ve thought of going with you.”
“Because you’re like some kind of groundhog that has to be prodded out of its burrow with a stick. But don’t worry. I’m not afraid to poke you.” Brianne jumped to her feet and offered him a hand up. “Let’s go to my house and check out apartments online.”
Eric took her hand and let her pull him to his feet. Together, they headed back up the beach toward the boardwalk.
His heart lifted like the seagull riding the breeze over the lighthouse. For the first time in a long time, he faced the future with excited hope. He was going someplace and trying something new with someone he loved.
No more toe dabbling. He was ready to take a plunge into the deep end.

As they learn to live together, a powerful attraction flourishes between Megan and the young man, whose real name is Sean. Although he’s street smart, tough and very mature, he’s also a youth in transition. When they finally give in to the sexual heat between them, Megan fears she’s taking advantage of her position as his mentor.
Their relationship challenges every aspect of her life. Megan must make difficult choices between the conflicting demands of her friends and family, her career and love.
Excerpt:
“If you prefer the interview to be confidential, we could go to that diner.” She gestured down the street. “I’ll buy you dinner. You answer my questions. Quick and painless.” She smiled.
“How much?”
“Excuse me?”
“Fifty bucks for twenty minutes. My time is valuable.”
“Um.” Megan calculated the cash she had available and what bills she needed to pay. “I can give you, uh, twenty.” He seemed to be considering so she added, “Plus the meal. It’s all I can afford.” The ethics of paying for an interview were questionable, but she decided this was a one-time transaction.
His gaze slowly wandered over her from head to foot.
Megan wanted to wrap her arms around her body to cover it.
Finally he nodded. “Okay.”
“Great.” It sounded way too enthusiastic. She repeated in a less spunky tone, “Great.”
This young man was so self-possessed he made her feel like a child. He strolled toward the restaurant with long, easy strides. Megan had to walk quickly to keep up.
She sat across from him in the booth, torn vinyl scratching the back of her legs. Inside the diner, she could see the boy more clearly than in patches of neon and shadow. His eyes seemed a brighter shade of blue in the fluorescent light. He scanned the menu and placed his order. The strappy, once-white T-shirt he wore showed off his well-defined arm muscles when he passed the menu back to the waitress. The material of the shirt molded to his chest, outlining the bump of each nipple pressing against it.
Megan quickly lifted her gaze back to his face.
He stared at her, eyes flat and calm as a lake on a hot summer day.
She could read nothing in them and wondered what he could possibly be thinking of her.
“You have questions?” he prompted.
“Oh, uh, right.” Megan pulled out her notebook and a small recorder from her purse. “You don’t mind if I tape this? It’s easier than writing everything down.”
He considered a moment then nodded.
She pressed the button and spoke. “Interview with…Mouth. White male, age…?”
“Seventeen.”
“Can you tell me a little about your family and your parents?”
“There was just my mom.” He didn’t offer anything else. Megan began to understand why Ricky had laughed when he suggested Mouth for an interview. He wasn’t a talker.
“How did you come to be on your own?”
“My mom was an addict. After we got evicted, there didn’t seem to be much point in sticking around anymore. I could take care of myself better than she could.”
“You didn’t have any relatives to stay with?”
“No. I stayed at a friend’s place for a while, but I couldn’t live there forever. Then I hooked up with some other kids who live in this abandoned building.”
“What about a foster home? Did you consider that?”
He stared at her for a second like she was stupid. “No. I’d rather be on my own.”
“How did you reach the point of,” she searched for a polite way to phrase the question, “considering prostitution as a source of income?”
“Some of the kids I knew were whoring, but I wouldn’t at first. I was sure I could find a job. But the days went on and I had no money. This kid, Donnie, convinced me sucking cock was a pretty simple way to make fifty bucks. So one night I did it.”
Megan swallowed. “How did you feel about it?”
“I didn’t feel anything. He was right. It wasn’t such a big deal and I had enough money to eat for a few days.” His voice was perfectly steady and emotionless.
Megan felt the cold reality of his answer hit her in the chest. Jesus, what kind of a life was that for a kid? She stared at her notepad, scribbling a few words, afraid he might see the pity in her eyes. “So how old were you when you did that? When you first sold sex?”
“Sixteen.”
He hadn’t been on the game all that long then. Megan remembered what she’d been like at sixteen when the whole focus of her life was school, she had an unrequited crush on the captain of the football team and her knowledge of sex was still mostly theoretical except for a little fumbling with Ray Marsden at a house party one summer evening. And even then, nothing much had happened.
“May I ask about your early sexual experiences?” She referred to her list of questions. “How old were you when you first had sex?”
“Fourteen.” Again, his answer was succinct, and Megan had to ask him to elaborate.
“Kristina Taylor. Eighth grade formal. In back of the gym. Less than five minutes.”
“How did you feel about it?”
“Embarrassed. But she was cool about it and it was better the next time and even better after we’d had more practice.” There was a hint of humor in his tone despite his blank face.
“When did you realize you were gay?”
“I’m not.”
Megan paused, taken by surprise. “But your clients are male.”
“What I do is work. Doesn’t mean I like it. You know anybody who works at McDonald’s and loves the job?” He smiled slightly for the first time.
“True.” She returned his smile.
The waitress returned with Mouth’s meal and a soda for Megan, who turned off the recorder.
The boy tore into the burger, his jaws bulging as he chewed an oversize mouthful. He didn’t look at her as he methodically ate his way through the food, chased by great gulps of soda.
Megan wondered when he’d last eaten.
If it bothered him to be watched, he gave no sign of it, but then anyone who engaged in intimate acts with strangers on a daily basis must have long ago lost all self-consciousness.
