Chapter 79

December rolled around, and I spent most of my time studying for finals right before Christmas. I was lucky that my brain happened to love the way schools were set up to teach, so I absorbed everything like a sponge.

I didn’t go out to any more parties. Josh and Tyrell had gotten even more obnoxious and had a little pack of douche bros who would harass me every time they saw me outside of school.

At school, I was safe, though. About a week or two after I returned, I was sick to death of being their target.

One lunch in the cafeteria I’d had enough, and I’d dumped my spaghetti all over the two of them. It had stained their white polo shirts bright orange and had left them stinking like tomato sauce for the rest of the day.

They left me alone after that unless they caught me out somewhere that I didn’t have back up.

So it was best to avoid parties and the movies on Saturday nights, also the town library on Sundays. I wasn’t afraid of them and their friends, but I was tired of them. I was too exhausted to fight back.

Mom could see it too, and I knew it worried her. I couldn’t fake it for her, though. I couldn’t pretend that I was happy here. As much as I loved hanging out with Maddy and Brie, I missed being with Barrett, Rome, and Whitt even more.

Sometimes I worried I had made them up. Like I’d dreamed them into being with the power of my longing for love and attention.

And then one of them would request a video chat, their charming smile would fill my phone screen, and I would know that they were genuine.

I was just sad without them. I felt empty being alone, and this far away from them.

Soon though, I would see them soon.

I left school in December one bright sunny California afternoon and started to walk towards Maddy’s car. I heard a commotion, and one of those obnoxious Hummer limos pulled through our parking lot, honking the horn and forcing people to move out of its way.

It was painted as obnoxiously as it looked. It was black but glittered in the light and had bright silver rims and silver trim across the front of it.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I mumbled under my breath as it drove towards me. I stepped off the road back up onto the sidewalk and waited for it to pass me by.

“Oh god, how much do you want a bet that Josh rented that monstrosity to compensate for his tiny little dick?” Brie said in disgust as she reached my side.

“Can you believe it? Like who would ever see that trash pile and want to pay for it?” Maddy sneered.

To my absolute and utter horror, it came to a screeching halt right in front of us.

I moved to turn around when I heard my name called.

“Steph, babe,” Whitt said, and I turned around with my heart leaping out of my chest.

He had one of the double doors in the back open and was leaning out. Inside I could see Barrett and Rome grinning like fools.

  “Get in!” Barrett yelled.

“Why are you here?” I laughed. “And what the hell are you driving?”

“We didn’t pick it out,” Rome said with a roll of his eyes. “The studio sent it over.”

“Studio? What’s going on?” I asked. “Get in, and we’ll tell you all about it,” Barrett said again.

“Bring your friends,” Whitt added and nodded towards Brie and Maddy.

They shrugged, looked at me, looked back at my guys inside of the hideous Hummer, and jumped right in.

“Come on,” Brie said. “Let’s go!”

Whitt reached out, grabbed my arm, and pulled me in.

He slammed the doors and Barrett told the driver my home address.

I was still stunned, but it was all starting to hit me.

  All three of them.

  My guys.

  My boyfriends.

Were here in my hometown picking me up in the ugliest car I’d ever seen.

“What are you doing here?” I finally shrieked as the dam broke, and the flood of excitement came spilling out of me. “What is going on? Are you coming to my house?”

“Your mom called David and told him you’re miserable,” Barrett said. “I found out my dad’s new film is premiering in LA this weekend so I decided to fly out and pick you up. We’re going to the film and spending the weekend in the city.”

“Did they find Becca?” I asked, and a cold shiver of fear shot through me. I seemed to have gotten over it on the outside, but there was still a gripping paranoia inside of me that made me quiver in terror when I was alone, thinking about that night.

And having my guys here brought it all into sharp focus again. I had almost died.

“No, but I doubt she’s coming to the west coast just to stalk you,” Rome said and leaned forward. He pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around me. “Besides, you’ve got us to protect you.”

I leaned my head against his chest and the fear I’d been feeling seemed to melt away. Rome was always my most forward boyfriend, the first to take my hand or admit that he was horny for me.

And in this case, he did it again. He was the first to offer me comfort and reassure me that I was going to be safe, that I was loved and secure.

We pulled up in front of Mom and Reg’s house, and I looked at Barrett. “Shit, Mom will never let me go for the weekend.”

“Already taken care of, babe,” he said. “David talked to her about it, and she agreed. Now for you two, we might need to talk to your parents if you’re coming along.”

“You mean we’re invited to go to the movie premiere?” Maddy asked breathlessly.

“Yeah, of course. Steph’s friends are welcome to join us. Besides, she talks about you so much I feel like I already know you.”

“Same,” Brie said. “And I’m down. My parents are out of town; I can do whatever I want.”

“I’ll ask. I’m sure they’ll be fine because it’s Stephanie. Everybody knows Stephanie is the good girl.”

“Stephanie is very good,” Whitt said and shot me a heated glance.

“Yes, very good,” Barrett agreed with a grin.

I went hot and red-faced at the suggestion hanging in their words, and I kind of wished my friends weren’t with us just then.

I would have stripped them all and had them alleviate the pent up passion that whirled around inside of me.

We stopped off at my place first, and sure enough, Mom was totally okay with it.

“Try to have fun this weekend,” she said as I threw random clothes into my suitcase. I had no idea what I needed to wear, but I assumed I’d be naked a lot of the time, so it didn’t matter.

  “I think it’s obvious that won’t be a problem,” I laughed.

“You do brighten up when they’re around,” she said. “They bring such a joy to your life that I can’t even believe you’re the same girl I saw this morning.”

“I can’t help it, I’m a little addicted,” I said and snapped my suitcase shut. “Thank you for this, Mom. I really needed it.”

“I know you did, dear,” she told me. “I love you and want you to be happy.”

“I love you too, and I am,” I said as I picked up my luggage and bounded down the stairs to where everybody was waiting for me.

It was so odd having my guys inside my house in California. At first, I’d been a little embarrassed because it was shabby compared to what they were used to.

And then I remembered that they loved me, not my house. It didn’t matter where I lived.

“You’re beautiful,” Barrett said as he stood up and looked me from top to bottom. “So fucking beautiful.”

“Yes, she is,” Whitt said, standing as well. He walked towards me with a slight limp, nothing that somebody might notice if they didn’t know him, but I picked up on it.

And once again, I had that strange combination of fear, anger, and guilt. Fear when I remembered almost dying at the hands of Becca’s jealous rage, anger when I thought about how selfish she’d been to destroy our peaceful lives, and guilt. So much guilt that Whitt had been hurt so mu
ch because of me.

It was good now, though; it was so good being with them.

Life felt right again as if North on my compass had been re-set. As if up was finally up again, and down was finally down.

  Chapter 80

The weekend in LA was fantastic. It was like walking through a dream. A magical dream where everything I ever wanted happened for me. We actually walked the red carpet at Barrett’s father’s movie premiere. I walked on Barrett’s arm, Maddy with Rome and Brie with Whitt. I told them I’d lend my guys out as long as they didn’t try anything funny.

Both girls laughed and said as if they’d have a chance, anyway.

It was obvious they were all completely smitten with me.

The red carpet had been nerve-wracking, but we survived because we were thankfully nobodies who weren’t newsworthy. The real stars of the movie walked the actual red carpet in front of hundreds of flashing cameras and eager paparazzi all vying for attention and their questions answered.

We walked the carpet that went behind the backdrop, out of sight of the cameras and people who were somebody.

But it was okay. I liked being anonymous in the middle of a crowd of celebrities. It was like being out in the open with our love, but among people who didn’t care. We were nobody to them, so a few times I even snuck a kiss or held their hands, so it was evident that the four of us were together.

It was a shame that the beautiful gowns we’d been allowed to pick out from a rack in our hotel suite weren’t noticed though. I’d chosen a silky red sheath that glittered as I walked and swirled around my feet as I moved.

Maddy and Brie had chosen similar gowns by the same designer, only in pink and blue. We picked shoes from the same rack and giggled as we tried them on.

We felt like princesses in a modern fairy tale. Being connected to the director definitely had its perks.

After we walked through the red carpet area, we waited in the back room with everybody else before the movie started.

Maddy and Brie were too caught up staring at actors they recognized to say anything; they were making plans on cornering one hot A-lister by the buffet table after the screening and making lewd comments about what they’d do when they got him.

The movie. Well, I don’t remember a lot about it. I spent the entire two hours kissing one of my guys after the other; it was dark in the theatre, and we couldn’t help ourselves.

Meeting Barrett’s dad had been nerve-wracking. We played it close to our chests and told him we were dating but didn’t mention the other two boys I was with.

  Not that it mattered.

He was a tall, lean and feral looking Scandinavian man with dark hair, grey eyes, and this uncanny ability to look right through you even as you were talking.

I was surprised he remembered my name; he barely paid attention when we were introduced.

“How did you two meet?” he asked me at one point at the movie’s after-party. He was sitting on a velvet sofa with beautiful women seated around him. He already looked uninterested in my response before I opened my mouth to tell him.

“I’m David’s daughter,” I said, jumping right to the point. Barrett was on a matching velvet sofa next to me, facing his father.

His dad raised his eyebrow and suddenly looked interested again. “Elaine’s husband, David?”

  “Yeah, that’s the David.”

“So you two are technically step-siblings,” he said and seemed a little too interested in me then. It made me feel like I was doing something dirty just for his benefit.

I leaned back and pressed against Barrett.

“Technically, yes. But I’d never met him before September,” I replied.

“Yeah, Dad, it’s not like we pulled out the god damned banjos and decided to go full Deliverance on her. She’s not my sister,” Barrett said with a dark scowl.

“I didn’t mean it like that,” his dad said. “I was actually impressed. I didn’t think you had that kind of taboo line crossing in you, son.”

“Barrett doesn’t mind crossing lines,” I said and sat up, feeling defensive. “That’s not an issue, but you would know that if you knew him at all.”

“I definitely didn’t think you would be the color outside the lines kind of girl,” he said.

“Well, I am,” I replied. “You have no idea.”

He stared at me, one of the girls on the sofa with him leaned against his arm and whispered something into his ear. He laughed and said, “I have to go. I’ve been reminded of something we need to handle after a brief interview.”

We watched him leave, and I told Barrett, “Okay, your father hates me.”

“No way, babe,” he replied. “He’s intrigued by you. That’s the most anyone can ask for from him. You’re in, don’t worry.”

“Thanks,” I said. “I’m sure he hates me, though.”

“You’ll see, one of these days,” he said with a smile. “You worry too much. I don’t care what anyone thinks. I know you’re amazing.”

He kissed me then, on the sofa in the middle of a room packed with celebrities and their hanger ons.

Rome sat down on the other side of Barrett and Whitt sat next to me. My boys once again surrounded me, and all the worry I had over Barrett’s dad was gone the moment they were by my side.

I looked across the room and found Maddy and Brie talking excitedly to the A list celebrity they had been stalking, and I had to laugh.

I pointed them out to the three guys, and we watched for a few minutes before I sighed, looked at each one of them, and said, “We should head back to our hotel room. I think I’d rather be with you three instead of surrounded by people I don’t care about.”

“Fuck, I thought you’d never ask,” Whitt said with breathy excitement.

  “Let’s go,” Rome agreed.

“I’ll text the driver. He’ll meet us around the side,” Barrett added.

We made our way down the hall to the side exit and waited for the world’s ugliest Hummer to pick us up. I texted Maddy and Brie on the way out to let them know we were leaving. I just got a thumb’s up emoji from Brie in the group chat when I told them the address of the hotel and for them to have fun.

I smiled at that. It was like a universal girl code for, “I’ll be fine. I’m getting lucky tonight.”

At the hotel, we tumbled out, and I felt drunk on love and lust. I couldn’t wait to have all three of them again, to feel them on me and inside of me.

But first I had to have Whitt. He’d been waiting for so long, and he deserved the most attention, having saved my life and having suffered the longest without sex.

We strolled through the lobby as if nothing was out of the ordinary. We were just four kids coming back from a red carpet party — no big deal.

Although I did feel like kind of a big deal with my beautiful gown swirling around my legs as I walked.

We hit the elevator, Whitt pushed the button for our floor, and we were on our way up to finally have some alone time.

I was ready to feel like myself again, the girl I was with the three boys I loved so much.

  Chapter 81

The moment the door to the suite closed, I turned to Whitt and drew him towards me. I began to kiss him; I melted against his body and felt him envelop me with his arms. His scent filled my nostrils, and the sound of him kissing me filled my ears.

That little growl in his chest that thrilled me to no end was almost enough to make my knees too weak to stand.

Barrett and Rome were right there to catch me though, to keep me upright as I kissed Whitt and fell into the heady sensations that were flowing through my limbs.

Nothing was better than this, nothing at all.

And I didn’t think anything else in the world would ever feel as good as the three of them touching my body all at once.

And it wasn’t just the sexual thrill, of course, that was a huge part of it, but it was the feeling it gave me of being secure. In the triangle of their love, I was held up, carried, and
adored exactly how I needed it.

Each of them complimented each other and created the perfect combination of emotional support that I craved.

I could dig around and try to figure out why I needed this kind of relationship. Maybe I did have father issues, but right then I didn’t care. I allowed myself to sink into the moment and lose sight of everything in the world that frightened me or caused me anxiety.

Whitt broke away, and Barrett took his place, kissing me deeply. After that, Rome kissed me, and the other two slowly undressed me as we moved towards the main bedroom. The bed was more than big enough for the three of us, and I wanted to roll into the middle of it and spend the rest of the weekend with my boys.

I began to tear at their clothes as they took turns kissing me, and finally, I bumped up against the edge of the bed.

I sat down and looked up at the three of them and with a smile on my face, I said, “I want to see you naked. This doesn’t seem fair with me completely stripped down, so take it all off, boys.”

Rome chuckled, he was already the closest to being naked, so he wiggled his hips and slid his boxer briefs down his long, muscular legs.

He tossed them towards me, and I caught them, they were still warm from the heat of his body.

“That good enough for ya?” he laughed and pulled his hands away from his dick and let it spring up, thick and gorgeous and standing at attention.

“That’s one down,” I said and looked at Barrett and Whitt. “Your turn, guys.”

Barrett had his shirt on, so he slipped it over his head, and I admired the way his abs danced and bulged under his smooth skin as he twisted and moved. He tossed it towards me, and I caught it and his boxers with a grin.

“Okay, almost there,” I laughed and watched as Whitt unbuttoned his tux pants and let them drop off his trim waist. They caught on his hips where his thick, muscular legs bulged out, but he wiggled a little and let them fall entirely.

He locked his eyes on mine and began to shimmy out of his boxer briefs, really making a show of stepping out of them before he tossed them my way like the others. And like the others, I caught them and marveled at how incredibly lucky I was to have three boys so obsessed with me, as much as I was obsessed with them.
