Protect Me From My Friends Page 17

by Marcellus Allen

The streets had been quiet as a mouse just waiting for the thunder to rip through the sky. Burnside had been hiding out like a bitch, posting videos on Instagram.

He was talking that high power shit for the Gram, but I knew he was nervous. His inner circle had been destroyed and he didn't have anymore Day One niggaz to trust or depend on. Yeah, he still had niggaz under him, but he knew just like I did that they could be bought. That's how it goes in the streetz.

None of that shit mattered though anyways. His time was up on this earth. I pulled my phone out and turned on the video that had been eating at my heart for days on in. Shanell had sent it to me, plus all of the text messages right after the last failed attempt on my life.

I guess she was tired of his shit and didn't wanna see him win the war that was over a bitch. That was her story, if you actually believed that shit. I knew the truth all too well. She was a woman scorned and there ain't shit worse that that! It hurt her to see him fuckin' a bitch that she was coo' with, period.

I'ma show him the tape right before I kill him. His words echoed loud in the stolen car we were sitting in. I had it on speaker, so they could hear the betrayal right before we went in.

They'd seen it plenty of times already though. I let them see it for the first time the day Phatz got outta jail and they acted like they were more betrayed than me. My heart couldn't be broken anymore though after I watched it for the first time.

Now I literally had a piece of coal for a heart. I felt nothing for the bitch and reminded myself it was time to prove it. She had to die the moment Bleed had lost his life.

It was easy to get the drop on her foul ass. All I had to do was pay Juice to sit outside of her mama's house until she came over and drove home. He followed her and the rest was history. He'd been sittin' on Olay's spot for days, telling me what I had already knew.

“Y'all ready?” I stuffed the phone in my pocket and double-checked the clip.

“Let's do this dawg.” Twin said, gritting.

“Let's go.” Phatz tossed his hood over his head.

We bounced out without another word being said and crept through the lot of the condos. Juice flashed his lights at us when we walked by, letting us know it was all clear. We kept our faces down as we entered the building and ran up the stairs to the second floor.

I hoped we didn't bump into any bystanders on the stairs 'cause we was gonna have to kill 'em for sure. That was the main reason I waited until midnight to run up in the building. We couldn't afford any fuck ups. We had one chance.

We made it to the floor without any problems and speed crept over to condo number 235. My adrenaline was rushing like a muthafucka as Phatz kicked the door open. We ran in guns drawn, ready to kill. It was a door closed right to my right, so I opened it and me and Twin rushed in. Burnside hopped outta the bed, firing like he had been expecting us.

  Boom! Boom! Boom!

We shot back, tearing his ass up.

  Boom! Boom! Boom! Boc! Boc!

He dropped to the ground as his gun went flying across the room. Olay jumped outta the bed, screaming her head off butt ass naked. Dumb bitch.

“Shut the fuck up, bitch, before I kill you,” I growled at her as we made our way over to our food. He was laying on his side, still breathing and coughing up blood. I rolled him over with my foot so he was on his back looking up at us.

“Sup, bitch ass nigga. Shanell sent me that video and told me to tell you you’re a bitch nigga. You lost, you snake ass nigga. You could never be me,” I taunted him.

“Shoot, bitch nigga. I'm dyin' a real nigga regardless,” he shot back, still defiant as ever. The look in his eyes let me know he was ready to die. I always respected his gangsta. That was never in question.

“This for Boobie, nigga,” Twin aimed his heat right at him face.

“Fuck Boobie and Gotti and y'all bitch ass niggaz, too. I'll see y'all niggaz in hell.”

  Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

We detached his soul from his body, sending him to the afterworld. It was a whole ‘nother feeling killing killing one of your best friends. He was the hardest nigga I've ever had to kill. It felt like I killed a piece of myself when I pulled that trigga. But I also felt liberated that it was over.

“Ahhh!” I heard Olay scream. She was falling to the floor as I turned my head. She tried to run out the room, but Phatz smacked her with the heat. She started crawling out the room. I caught her in the hallway and pressed my foot in her back, smashing her to the floor.

“I'm sorry, Marshawn. Please don't kill me!” she begged.

I aimed at her head. “Bitch, you tried to kill me? You want me dead?”

“No, I'm sorry. You killed my sister. I'm sorry.” She was crying her soul out.

“You put my son’s life in danger, so you gotta die.”

“Please, please, please!” Her cries fell on deaf ears. I was getting ready to pull the trigga when my son appeared in the hallway. He was standing by his door, looking confused and crying.

“Daddy, why mommy crying?” His words shattered my already broken heart.

I looked down at her pitiful face. “You lucky, bitch, my son just saved yo’ life.” I went and picked my son up. “I'm taking him with me. You probably won’t ever see him again, but if I do let you, I'll call you. Don't call my phone or I'ma kill you,” I spat and rushed out with my son crying for his trifling ass mama.

  Chapter 16

A few days later, I was at my house getting ready to roll the weed up when my lawyer called me. He was letting me know that I'd been secretly indicted on multiple counts. He didn't know the exact charges, but that they were serious and were probably on the way to get me.

What the fuck? I knew I'd been hella careful in my recent murders, so that couldn't be it. Must be drugs. I immediately told Tamia to start packing up the money and whatever jewelry she wanted. She kept asking a million questions and I kept telling her I'd explain later. It took us ten minutes to empty the safe and get the kids ready, then we were outta the door.

I had the duffle bag of money and Mar-Mar in my arms and she carried our daughter, plus a small bag of jewelry. I decided to take the Nissan instead of her truck 'cause the boyz wouldn't be looking for me in this car. My mind was racing a thousand miles a minute as I drove outta the gate.

What the fuck? Olay's Range Rover was parked right outside of my gate damn near blocking us in.

“What is this bitch doing here?” Tamia asked, while cutting her eyes at me.

“How the fuck I'm suppose to know?” I hopped out in a hurry to check the bitch.

She might know something. Olay hopped out as soon as she seen me get out. She looked fucked up like she hadn't slept in days and her hair looked like it hadn't seen a comb.

“What is you doing here?” I screamed in her face.

“We need to talk and I need to see my son! And why is he around this home wrecking bitch?” She pointed at Tamia.

Tamia hopped out and rushed over ready to fight. “You got something to say, hoe?” Tamia asked.

“We don't got time for this, Mia. Get back in the car with the kids!”

“Where the fuck you think you’re taking my son with this ratchet ass bitch?” The look in Olay's eyes were those of a mad woman.

“Bitch—” Tamia's words were cut off real short. Olay whipped out the same .38 I had bought and trained her to use. Fuck! She pointed it back and forth between us, ready to shoot at any moment.

“You ruined my life, bitch! You don't deserve to live, you fuckin' home wrecker.”

Angry tears were spilling outta her eyes. I didn't think she was really gonna shoot, so I tried to calm her down.

“Olay, put the gun down before you really throw yo’ life away.”

“You don't love me no more. You took my son and she took my man. It's already thrown away.”

  Boc! Boc! Boc!

I watched Tamia fall dead to the ground in slow motion. Her head exploded, shooting blood everywhere before her
body even touched the ground. I pulled the .40 from my waist.

  Boom! Boom! Boom!

Olay crumbled to the ground. I stood over her with hate.

  Boom! Boom!

Two face shots just to ensure that her casket was closed. I gave Tamia one look, but turned my head instantly. She died in shock and her face resembled it. I could hear the kids screaming at the top of their lungs.

Fuck! I jumped in and held my crying daughter as I maneuvered around the Rover and sped down the street. I knew it was over for me.

I got to my mother's spot in record-breaking time. By the time I'd gotten there, the double murder had been all over the news. My mama was crying her eyes out, but she happy I wasn't dead. She didn't know since the news hadn't released names yet. I told her I had to go and would call her soon.

I left her the kids and money and took her car, then blew the joint in less than five minutes. I knew exactly where I needed to go. I had a special place just for shit like this. My heart pounded outta my chest every time I heard a siren, but I made it to my safe house alive and free. Soon as I walked in, I broke my cell phone, then collapsed on the couch.

I woke up in the morning with a headache and a heavy heart. Tamia's really dead. I flipped on the TV, going straight for the news and there I was front and center. They had my face blasted across the screen, talking about I was armed and dangerous! One thing they said though really blew my mind. I thought my ears were playing tricks on me. They said Olay wasn't dead!

She took one to the chest and stomach, but the other two are the ones that had her in critical condition. One bullet went in her neck and the other went threw her jaw, coming outta her neck.

Shit! I should domed her ass! And the worse thing about it was she'd pointed me out before slippin' into a coma. Snitch bitch. That's when I knew I was really fucked. I turned on my burner phone that I kept over here and called Twin. He didn't answer. Come on, nigga! Next I called Phatz and he picked up on the second ring.

“I need you, nigga!” I told him.

“I already know. Where you at?” he asked.

“Highland Park apartments, number seventeen. Hurry up, nigga. You know where it's at?”

“Two forty second and Stark, right?”

  “Yeah,” I confirmed.

“I'm driving now.” He hung up.

I kept calling Twin, but he wasn't answering for shit. They never there when you need 'em. I threw my phone across the room. It took about forty-five minutes for Phatz to knock on the door, but I was sparked when he did. I hurried up and let him in, then slammed the door pronto. I gave my nigga a G-hug, then sat down.

  “Blood, what happened?” he asked.

I took the next twenty minutes explaining everything play by play up to the point were I found out Olay was alive. He shook his head when I finished and even had a tear in his eye. “You good, nigga?” I asked.

“I fucked up, big bro,” He lowered his head.

“I had a brick of hard when I got caught with the pistol.”

I shook my head. “I told you to fall back on that shit, blood. Oh, well. It's Gucci. We gon' get through this shit.”

I put my face in my hands, tryna think of a way outta this shit but, then a thought hit me.

“How the fuck you get out then?” He yanked his pistol out and aimed it straight at my head.

“I know you ain't—” My words were cut off.

“I didn't have a choice, bro! The gun had a body on it! They was gon' give me life.” He actually had the nerve to shed tears for a real nigga.

“You should of took yo’ time, snitch nigga,” I growled. I couldn't believe this shit I was going through.

He back pedaled and opened the front door for the pigs. They rushed in twenty deep, body slamming me and shit. Then it was over. I stared Phatz in his rat eyes as I walked out, but he put his head down like the coward he was.

  Epilogue

  December 5th, 2018

I'd sat in the court room for the past three weeks, watching everybody get on the stand and snitch. The state charged me with the death penalty for all types of crimes. I got charged with killing Burnside, Ralo's two brothers, and his grandpa. They also charged me with killing a bouncer even though Phatz finished him. Then they hit me with four more bodies from that same night when we crushed all those Crips on New Years.

The nigga Phatz told about every murder he was a part of and they charged me with every one. But by the time trial started, only Ralo's family and Burnside had stuck. The others were dismissed for lack of evidence.

The snitch Phatz had been wearing a wire the whole time since he'd gotten outta jail. He crushed me on the stand! Olay got on the stand and got me charged for shooting her and told the jury about my life of crime. Ralo got on the stand and told everything he knew and even cried for the jury.

All types of random niggaz were snitchin'! Premo was the only one that kept it gangsta. Twin was on America’s Most Wanted and still couldn't be found. I lost trial and ended up coping out to life without parole, so they wouldn't stick the needle in me. I looked at my nigga Juice before I walked out the court room, “It's yo turn now. Hold it down.”

Then it was over. Or was it?
