  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

  Gary Lachman is the author of several books on the links between consciousness, culture, and the Western esoteric tradition, including Swedenborg; Rudolf Steiner: An Introduction to His Life and Work; In Search of P.D. Ouspensky; A Secret History of Consciousness; and Politics and the Occult. As a critic and journalist, Lachman has written for The Times Literary Supplement, The Independent on Sunday, Fortean Times, The Guardian, and other journals in the United States and United Kingdom, and is a frequent guest on BBC Radio Three and Four. A founding member of the rock group Blondie, in 2006 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and his New York Rocker (written as Gary Valentine) is an account of his years as a musician. Born in New Jersey, he has lived in London since 1996, where he lectures frequently on his work.
