He stood and peered at her. “Make it a big breakfast.”

Happy, she nodded as she pulled on her bikini and ran outside. Streaks of orange and yellow filled the sky in the distance. She stood near the shore watching the waves lap the beach.

David came up behind her and wrapped his arm around her waist.

“I still think about her,” she whispered.

“You should, she’s your mam,” he said rubbing his chin against the top of her head.

“I talked to Daddy and Mom about it, explained things to Wyatt, Kayden, and Damian. Even showed them the picture Isodora gave me.” She exhaled.

“That’s good.” He squeezed her. “What’s bothering you?”

“Nothing, not really. I’m happy, at peace I guess. No secrets. Dad’s going to meet Kim, she wants to talk to him and meet the boys. We’re all related through Dad.”

  David nodded.

“I just hope... I hope we can all be okay.” She glanced over her shoulder at him. “Know what I mean? Dad’s got kids from different women. Hanna birthed me, but Asia’s my mom. Kim won’t ever feel that way, won’t have that close relationship with our grandparents and I hate that.”

“As long as she knows the door is open, that she can develop a relationship with Asia...” He shrugged. “That’s all you can do.”

“Good morning, guys,” Quinn yelled as he and Jackie walked toward them.

“Morning,” Sarita said stepping into Jackie’s extended arms for a hug.

“Sleep well?” Jackie asked as they stepped aside while David and Quinn bumped fists.

“Yeah, really good.” Sarita looked around at the modern resort. “I think this is going to become my second favorite place. It’s beautiful.”

Jackie agreed. “As tired as I am, we wanted to see the sunrise, maybe swim and then breakfast.” She looked at David and then Sarita. “Is that what you guys had in mind?”

David nodded as his hand slid down Sarita’s arm and his fingers intertwined with hers. “I want a big breakfast.” He looked behind him. Adam and Bella were moving toward them. “Seems everyone had the same idea.”

By the time Bella and Adam greeted everyone, they all turned and watched the sunrise.

“Oh no, we missed it,” Renee yelled running toward the beach with Storm following slowly.

“Didn’t know you guys were going to be here,” Adam said looking at Renee.

When she didn’t say anything, David and Adam looked at Storm.

Storm shrugged. “I had another place picked out on the South of France. Once she learned you guys were coming here... she thought it’d be fun.”

Sarita laughed at Storm’s indulgent glare. It was obvious he didn’t care where he and Renee were but played the role of an outraged newlywed to perfection.

Jackie threw her arm around Renee’s shoulder and walked toward the veranda for breakfast. Quinn and Storm followed.

Adam watched and shook his head. “What do you think?” he asked David. “That was a lot of work for one day, would you do it?”

David looked at Sarita who grinned up at him. “I’d give her anything to keep her smiling at me like that.” He pushed Adam’s shoulder as Bella moved close. “So would you.”

Adam kissed Bella’s forehead. “Yeah, you’re right. I’d do it for her in a heartbeat.”

They turned and went for breakfast.

  Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to read David’s story, Book four in La Patron's Den. Okay, now you know my secret. I read all kinds of books, including Apocryphal books. The Book of Jasher is one of my favorite books to read along with the Bible because it adds a layer of flavor and panache to the history of the first five books in the Bible. Plus, the original Book of Jasher is mentioned in the Bible three times: 2 Timothy 3:8, 2 Samuel 1:18, Joshua 10:13.

David’s book ties up a lot of loose ends and answers a lot of questions. When I started writing the story I wasn’t sure who David would mate. A few women crossed my mind but as I continued the story, Sarita won out. Her story begged to be told. The two of them are like best friends and lovers wrapped into one. She’s knows him and that’s going to be fun. I think of them as the next power couple!
