He looked like he might complain or have another opinion about her shark swimming, but instead, he just nodded. “Deal. That seems fair.”
“Good, now, let’s get you out of that shirt.”
His grin grew. “I love the sound of that.”
But she just laughed. “Then you can help me dock her. I was wondering how to do that part by myself anyway.”
“Happy to be of service.” He stepped through the door leading down to the berths. Then he poked his head back out. “Do you have anything else I can wear onboard?”
“Fortunately, not really.” She laughed.
Then when he turned a particularly adorable shade of red, she had some mercy on him. “Feel free to stay shirtless, but if you look in the second berth, you should see some clothes that might fit.”
“Do I want to know why you have men’s clothing on board?”
“No.”
He nodded and left it at that.
She grinned to herself. The fact that her cousins had borrowed the boat last week could remain a mystery for at least the next twenty minutes.
As she prepared the sails to make the rest of their journey, she let the peace and calm from his arrival seep into the deepest parts of her. Colton made everything better. He filled in the empty spots, and she knew she loved him. Perhaps they could make it work, maybe they could be together, and she might even be able to take another assignment with Top Flight. But she was pretty sure she never wanted to work with him again. It would just be easier that way. Could this be her future? With Colton at her side? She knew this summer would help her know. But as he poked his head back out, dressed in dry clothes, his smile larger than she’d ever seen it, she loved him even more, and she already knew he was her future.
