“But you had a right to know and I kept that from you,” she whispers, casting her eyes to the floor.

“Doll, you’re human. With the way I’ve been treating you, I don’t blame you for not telling me about it. Starting now we’re doing things differently. I’m not about to lose you for my fuck ups and I need you in my life,” I tell her, positioning myself between her legs and pulling her flush against my front, feeling her wetness instantly. “Fuck, baby, you wet for me?”

Biting her lip, Rachel nods at me. “Yes.”

Grinning at her, I slide a hand between us, gliding the tips of my fingers through her juices already coating her pussy. “Soaked for me,” I growl. “Lean back for me, Doll, I’m thinking my breakfast is going to consist of something else entirely.”

With my help Rachel slides back lying flat against the large counter space. Sliding my t-shirt up I kiss her stomach, the top of her pelvis, flick my tongue over her clit, and finally swipe my tongue over her pussy. Groaning, I feast on her, savoring her taste, becoming drunk on her essence. Hearing my woman’s moans spurs me on as I devour her.

“Scott,” Rachel pants, back arched, and her legs draped over my shoulders tighten.

Yeah, she’s about to come for me.

Wanting to feel her come around my cock, I pull back, slide my sweats down, palm myself and line up with her pussy. As I slam deep into her, her pussy instantly convulses around me while she screams my name.

Grabbing her hips, I pound into her fucking her ruthlessly, feeling my balls tighten. Wanting Rachel to come one more time, I reach between us and pinch her clit. “Come for me,” I command.

“Scott,” she cries, her pussy clenching me as her orgasm overcomes her, pulling my own with it.

Groaning her name, I sink to the hilt inside Rachel spurting every drop into her.

“Fuck, Doll, that was fuckin’ fantastic,” I say, breathless.

“I agree,” she pants, grinning up at me.

Fuckin’ hell I love that smile of hers.

My phone ringing pulls us both back to reality. Pulling out of my woman, I reach for my phone to find Bear’s name on display.

“Everything good?” I ask immediately upon answering, hoping it’s just the kids wanting to talk to us.

“Not good, Prez, hate to be the one to fuck up your time away with your ol’ lady but you need to get back here, your house was set on fire.” At the information, I tense, not liking the sound of this news.

“You know who did it?” I demand.

“No clue, Nerd’s working on it now, Prez, trying to find out. Tracker asked me to call you while he and Blaze deal with the fire department. I’ve moved Momma B and your kids to the clubhouse for safety measures,” Bear mutters.

“Alright, thanks, we’ll be on the way within thirty minutes,” I state, not waiting for him to respond, I hang up and turn my attention to my woman.

“What’s going on?” she asks, eyes wide as she stares at me.

“Gotta get back, Doll, someone lit our house on fire,” I inform her while helping her down off the counter. “Go get dressed, we need to get out of here.”

Rachel doesn’t waste time getting ready and like I told my brother we’re heading out thirty minutes later.

Now I just have to get back, doing it carefully due to the weather.

  Fuck.

Whoever started the fire is going to fuckin’ pay.

Driving through the snow, neither of us say anything, but I can feel Rachel’s nervousness.

“It’s gonna be okay, baby,” I tell her.

Before she can respond, a truck comes flying around a curve slamming straight into the front of our truck sending us spiraling over the embankment.

Rachel’s screams are all that penetrates as the truck rolls landing against a tree. I’m trying to remove my seat belt when Rachel’s door is yanked open.

“I told you I’d see you soon, Rachel,” a man I don’t recognize, sneers as he grips my woman’s hair causing her to scream out, his gaze comes to me. “She’s no longer yours, motherfucker.”

“Get your fuckin’ hands off my ol’ lady,” I snarl, trying to undo my seatbelt, blood dripping into my eyes.

“Said she wasn’t yours,” he snarks, bringing a knife out and cuts Rachels belt. “Say goodbye, love. You’re about to start a new life without anything to keep you tied to this man.”

“Dr. Lanston?” she asks as if she’s trying to get her bearings.

  What the fuck?

  This isn’t Dr. Lanston.

“Told you to call me Jared when we’re not in session,” Lanston states.

“Why are you here? Let me go,” Rachel’s voice breaks.

I’m finally able to pull my knife out of my pocket to cut myself out of my seatbelt.

“Told you, I’m here so you can start a new life. With me,” Lanston says softly to Rachel, his focus solely on her as he starts to drag her from the truck.

“No, I don’t want to go with you,” Rachel snaps, having realized what this fucker is trying to do.

  “You are.”

“No, I’m not. I’m not leaving my husband,” she says, throwing her fist trying to get out of Lanston’s grasp.

Slicing through the seatbelt holding me in my seat, I drop the knife, reach under my seat and pull my gun I keep there out, knowing it was already loaded. Slowly, I pull myself over the center console, not taking my eyes off the motherfucker trying to drag my woman away to his truck up the embankment.

This shit is not about to happen. He’s gonna die for fuckin’ with my wife.

  Chapter Seven

  Rachel

Soon as Stoney answered his phone, I knew something was wrong. Terribly wrong.

I hadn’t expected him to tell me our house was set on fire. This meant everything was gone. All of our memories we’d made there. Everything I’d gotten the kids for Christmas, gone. Sure, it’s all objects and things we can replace but shit, all the photos I’d taken of the kids, that’s what really hurts.

Then as we were on the road the truck came at us, sending us sailing. If we hadn’t had put our seatbelts on earlier, the both of us would have died. I’d honestly been terrified of the possibility of losing Stoney.

When Dr. Lanston yanked my door open, I’d been confused as to why he was there. As he spoke everything became clear and I realized he wasn’t a doctor. If he were, he wouldn’t be doing what he’s doing to me now.

My mind is racing, consumed with thoughts of getting as far away from this lunatic as I can. I should have seen it. The way he filled my brain with doubts about my marriage to Stoney. I’d been seeing him for so long talking to him about every one of my fears.

  About my miscarriage.

Now this man is trying to physically take me from Stoney.

Fighting to get away from him, I fall to the ground with Lanston falling on top of me, crushing me with his far bigger body. My body instantly begins to shiver from the snow soaking through my clothes.

“Get off me,” I yell, pushing against him unsuccessfully. Instead he puts more of his weight on me as he tilts his head into my neck and bites me.

Screaming, I thrash against him, doing everything I can to get him off me. Only when Stoney grips Lanston by the back of his neck and yanks him off me does he move.

“Told you to get away from my ol’ lady,” Stoney sneers, standing in front of me blocking Lanston from getting to me again as he gets to his feet pulling a gun out of his waistband, eyes come to me as I slowly pull myself up out of the snow.

“You won’t keep her from me. You hurt her. She came to me. I healed her,” Lanston says, aiming the gun at Stoney.

“You didn’t do shit,” Stoney snarls, aiming his own gun at Lanston.

“Rachel, come to me. You’re meant to be with me. I’ll end this man and you and I will go somewhere where no one will ever hurt you again,” Lanston says. “You’re mine, Rachel, I won’t allow another man to touch you.”

  “No,” I whispe
r, shaking my head.

Lanston’s eyes narrow at my answer aiming his gun on me. Something in his eyes sends a chill over me and I can almost see what he plans to do. Quickly he pulls the trigger and I barely have time to react jumping in front of my husband.

Pain radiates through my chest as more shots are fired. Before I can fall over, Stoney’s there catching me, helping me to the ground. “Fuck, Rachel, what the hell did you do that for?” he mutters as he looks down at me.

“I didn’t want you hurt,” I say feeling myself grow weak.

“Hang on baby, I’m gonna get us out of here,” Stoney says, pulling out his phone. I barely hear him as he speaks to someone. “Helps on the way, Rachel, stay with me.”

  “I love you,” I murmur.

“I know you do, Doll, I love you too. So fuckin’ much. Don’t make me live without you now so hold the fuck on.”

My head feels fuzzy and it becomes harder to stay awake. “Promise me you’ll take care of our kids.”

“Don’t, Rachel. You’re going to be fine. They’re coming, baby, just hold on a little longer. We weren’t too far from town when Lanston ran us off the road.” His voice is the only thing keeping me here right now.

“Please, Scott, promise me, it was always me, always us,” I whisper inaudible.

“Fuck, Doll. I don’t need to promise that. I can’t fuckin’ live without you woman. Don’t give in. Don’t let that fucker take you from me. That’s what he wants.”

Sirens fill the air, but I barely hear them. My vision blurs.

“Love you, Scott Dane.” Is the last thing to come out of my mouth as I close my eyes.

  Chapter Eight

  Stoney

The moment her eyes closed, I couldn’t fuckin’ take it. Tears spill from my eyes.

“Sir, let us get to her.” The paramedics had just gotten to us. With my gaze still locked on my woman’s prone body, I do as they say knowing she needed them right now more than me.

“Pulse is faint but still there,” a female medic says. “Let’s get her loaded.”

As I watch them work on her getting her ready, the sheriff steps into my view. “I’m sorry, sir, but I’m going to need to ask you some questions about what happened here.”

Not wanting to take all day, I meet the man’s gaze dead on. “What happened here was the man over there dead, ran my woman and I off the road as we were heading home after getting a phone call our house had been set on fire. He then pulled her from the vehicle and tried to take her from me. When I didn’t allow that to happen, he decided to pull his gun out, shot my wife, and I shot him in self-defense. Now any other questions can wait until later.”

“Understood. You look like you need to be checked out yourself,” the sheriff states.

“I’m good, just need a clean and swipe,” I mutter, turning my focus back to the paramedics. “I’ll be coming with you,” I call out, wanting them to know she wasn’t going anywhere without me.

“Alright,” the female medic calls out as they begin heading up the embankment.

Following them, I climb in and sit where they tell me to as they work to save my woman. Even in the midst of a snowstorm they make quick work of getting to the hospital. Any other time I’d be surprised as to them getting around as fast as they do; however, in the time it takes to get to the hospital Rachel codes.

It takes all of my control to keep myself in check, but I manage by telling myself it was the only way to save my woman.

Pulling into the hospital, I jump out of the back getting out of the way as nurses rush forward to help the paramedics unload Rachel. My head is spinning as they practically run with the gurney through the sliding glass doors.

“Sir, we need to get you checked out,” a nurse says, placing her hand on my arm.

Glancing down at her hand on my arm, I narrow my gaze on her. “I’m fine and you can take your hand off my fuckin’ arm.”

Quickly she does as I say, turning on her heel she nearly runs just as fast as the nurses who ran off with my woman.

“I’m sorry, sir, but if you’re not going to allow us to help you, we need you to wait in the waiting room. Someone will be out in a bit to get some information about the woman you came in with.” This time a male nurse states.

Nodding, I head for the waiting room, knowing the drill. I stop and turn to face the male nurse, “Her name’s Rachel Danes, she’s my wife and a diabetic.”

“I’ll get them that information right away and come out to give you updates as we hear anything,” he says, reaching out his hand. “My name is Jason.”

“Thank you, Jason,” I say taking his hand. Turning back around, I walk out to the waiting room to sit and wait.

I pull my phone out and bring up Tracker’s number.

“You on the way, Prez? The firefighters were able to get the fire out. Nerd’s working away at finding out who started it,” Tracker says soon as he answers.

“No need to worry about who started it. I know who it was and he’s dead,” I inform him stoically.

“What the fuck do you mean? Where the hell are you?” he demands.

“At the hospital near the cabin,” I tell him.

  “Shit, what happened?”

“Not talking about it right now. Need you to tell Bear we won’t be there anytime soon,” I mutter, leaning back in my seat, I let out a deep breath as I tell him the next part. “Fuck, I don’t know if Rachel’s going to make it.”

“Oh fuck, we’re on the way,” Tracker says and hangs up on me.

Pulling the phone from my ear, I put it back in my pocket and look at my hands. As I see Rachel’s blood covering them, I close my eyes. “Please don’t take her from me,” I murmur.

I don’t know how much time passes until someone touches my shoulder. Glancing up, I find my son, Horse, standing there.

“Shit, Pops,” he says, as I stand and he pulls me into him. “You look like hell. Have you been checked out?”

“I’m fine,” I rasp, clearing my throat.

“You’re not fine,” Tinsley states having heard me. “You need to be seen. Shit, you might have a concussion from the looks of you.”

“Not worried about me. I’m fine,” I mutter.

  “What happened?” Shadow asks.

Giving him a look, I shake my head letting him know I’m not talking about it right now. Not when there were women around.

“Why aren’t you back there with Rachel? Did they kick you out of her room?” Kenny asks, wrapping her arm around my waist as she comes to stand next to me.

Not wanting to get anything on my daughter-in-law, I don’t touch her. Instead I look to my son.

“Sweet girl, come here,” he says, gruffly.

“What? What’s wrong with Rachel?” Kenny asks, releasing me to move back to my son.

I start to tell her when the doors to the back open and Jason steps out with a doctor, “Family of Rachel Dane?”

Stepping forward, “I’m her husband,” I say.

“I’m Dr. Carr. Your wife is being taken to the ICU. I have to admit, sir, she lost a lot of blood and coded twice on the table. If she makes it through the night, then I would say she’ll be okay but will have to wait and see,” Dr. Carr states.

“When can I see her?” I demand.

“Soon as they get her situated. First, I suggest you allow me to take you to the back and examine you to make sure you’re good and get you a pair of scrubs to put on,” Dr. Carr suggests.

“Pops, you need to be checked,” Horse says, coming to stand next to me.

Nodding, I agree to it as long as it meant I got to my woman.

  Chapter Nine

  Rachel

  Beep. Beep. Beep.

God where is that annoying sound coming from? And that smell?

Better yet, why does my body feel like it’s been run over by a Mack truck?

Slowly I open my eyes, glancing around I realize I’m in a hospital bed.

  It’s then I remember.

&nbs
p; Scanning the room, I stop on the form slouched back in the chair, arms crossed over his chest, asleep.

  Stoney.

Tears well in my eyes as I look at him, thoughts rush through my head at all we’ve been through since we’ve been together. How, despite it all, we’re still here together.

Staring at my husband, his words from when we were at the cabin come back to me. “You, Doll, have never been seen as anyone but who you are, my woman. Never have I thought of you as a replacement.” Leaning my head back against the pillow, I close my eyes trying to catch my breath through the pain resonating in my chest. “Doll, you’re human. With the way I’ve been treating you, I don’t blame you for not telling me about it. Starting now we’re doing things differently. I’m not about to lose you for my fuck ups and I need you in my life.” He meant it. Every word of it. “Fuck, Doll. I don’t need to promise that. I can’t fuckin’ live without you woman. Don’t give in. Don’t let that fucker take you from me. That’s what he wants.”

  Oh God.

How could I have been so blind?

I allowed this man to come into our lives and fill my head with such doubts about my man’s feelings for me. When all I should have done was weather the storm until it passed. A small sob escapes me at the thought of everything I could have lost. What I nearly did lose.

“Rachel,” Stoney says, his voice alert yet anxious. I open my eyes at the warmth of his fingers brushing my tears away. “Shh, it’s okay. You’re okay. Don’t cry, Doll,” he murmurs soothingly.

“Scott,” I say his name hoping he doesn’t disappear on me.

“Yeah, Doll, I’m right here. You scared the hell out of me,” he murmurs. “Thought I lost you. Swear to God when I get you home, I’m never letting you out of my sight again. I don’t ever want to go through something like this again.”

“I’m so sorry,” I whisper, tears falling down my cheeks faster.

“Rachel, you have nothing to be sorry for. Nerd found some information out about the motherfucker who put you here. His name wasn’t Dr. Lanston, he was a man who targeted women who sought out help. He got off on making these women doubt what was already going through their heads making it worse for them. For some reason he singled you out and I don’t know why,” Stoney says, trying to make me feel better.
