That just got me another giggle. This was starting to feel a bit like a trial by fire, not a gentle introduction to new people.
“I love you, Daddy.” He hugged me tightly before looking at Conner. “I have the best Daddy ever.”
Conner giggled. “Cody will argue about that, so don’t tell him. He’s very confident Ford is the best Daddy because he gave Cody a dinosaur outfit.”
I had no idea how to respond to that, so I just nodded as Derek made the appropriate excited noises. He glanced up at me with an ear-to-ear smile. “We have to find that for Jules. He might like to be a dinosaur too.”
I was starting to see more online shopping in my future. But I wasn’t going to promise to buy costumes until Jules gave his opinion. “We’ll talk to him, but for now, how about we go find Cody?”
As Derek stepped back, Conner took his free hand. “Come on. He’s easy to find. Just look for the big dinosaur with a binkie.”
This was going into the Derek knew the most interesting people category. But as I walked along with my sexy man on a leash and his friend bouncing beside us, I knew I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Life with Derek would never be boring or typical, but after a lifetime of long work hours and early bedtimes, I had a feeling I was due for a bit of unique and interesting. Thankfully, the wonderful man at my side would make sure I had all the love and fun I could ever need.
