by Jacie Douglass

“We call upon the elements, Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Spirit.” Samil intones.

“We call upon the elements, Earth, Air, Water, Fire, and Spirit.”

“Bless this bond and unite us together”

“Bless this bond and unite us together”

“Let six become one, our futures entwined.”

“Let six become one, our futures entwined.”

“One Family, One Path, One Life.”

“One Family, One Path, One Life.”

  “Now and Forever.”

  “Now and Forever.”

“We will Support, Protect, Honor, and Defend one another.”

“We will Support, Protect, Honor, and Defend one another.”

“Let no power break our bond.”

“Let no power break our bond.”

“With our Hearts we pledge this oath.”

“With our Hearts we pledge this oath.”

“With our Souls we invoke this oath.”

“With our Souls we invoke this oath.”

“With our Blood we bind this oath.”

“With our Blood we bind this oath.”

  “So Mote it be.”

  “So Mote it be.”

Ribbons of power encircle our hands as we speak the vows, creating a rainbow of energy encompassing our hands. I fight the urge to look at the others to see if they see it too. As the last words are spoken, the energy seems to flare before melding into our joined hands. The energy flows through me, lighting me on fire from the inside, before settling like a warm hum in my chest.

I smile, content in the knowledge that no matter what, no one can separate us. The power of our bond will always bring us back together.
