  * * * *

  “Have you found that pixie, yet?” The voice was calm, the question asked in a measured way. Still, it made the little hair on the man’s neck stand on end.

  “N–n–n–no,” he stuttered, and licked his lips. “We were unable to track him. It is as if he disappeared into thin air and nobody remembers how they even got possession of him. All we know is that it was through that vampire who got obliterated a while ago.”

  “The one who was turned to ash, I assume?” The person actually chuckled over where they were tending to some flowers. “How very dramatic. I wish I could see it. That man was such an unpleasant ass.” The person sniffed, as if they smelled something bad.

  The amused tone disappeared and the person grew serious. “You need to find this pixie. I don’t care how you do it, just get it done! That little bitch cannot be allowed to live. He is an abomination, something that shouldn’t be allowed to live. I do not understand how his parents didn’t smother him at birth as soon as they discovered what he was. But they didn’t, and now I must take care of it. We need to hurry. When he finds his fated, it will be too late.”

  The person was mumbling more to themselves than to the man, so the next words shocked him into jumping. “What are you waiting for, fool? Go and find me that pixie.” The sharp tone was like the crack of a whip and the man scurried to follow the order. He had heard what the person could do and it was stuff the nightmares were made of. He didn’t want to be on the receiving end of the person’s wrath. He could only pity the pixie’s fate once it was caught and delivered to the scary individual who looked so innocent tending to the potted plants in the sunny conservatory.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

  When she was a child Sophie’s parents complained that she was spending too much time reading. She couldn’t stop herself, however, and by the time she grew up her reading habit turned into a full-blown addiction. Combine it with unending curiosity making her always wonder “what if”, and that’s how she started writing her own books.

  Now Sophie tries to mediate between all the characters fighting in her head as to whose story should be written first, and the only time when she finds some peace is when training in martial arts.
