Luciferel/Lucifer – “The Bright One of God/The Bright One” –
Luciferel was the highest ranking angel in Heaven, who eventually changes his own name when he casts off God’s energy and takes over the rebellion.
Raphael – “God Heals” – Raphael is one of the leading Seraphim and the nemesis of Azazel.
Michael – “Who is like the Lord” – Michael is the general of the Armies of God. His nemesis is Lucifer.
Gabriel – “Strong Man of God” – Gabriel is a powerful Seraph whose chief duty is managing the flow of information in Heaven.
CHERUBIM
Cherubim are the second order of angels. They spend all their time and energy in direct worship and take only a passing interest in the affairs of the other angels. They have a white sash with a gold C.

Hanael – “Joy of God”
THRONES
The Thrones are great teachers and also responsible for the structure of the spiritual realm. The Thrones wear an earthy brown sash with a green T.
Orifel – Head of the Thrones.
Bodiel – Throne angel and head teacher.
Malphas – Builder and destroyer demon. Later helps Lucifer to construct HEL.
DOMINIONS
Angels who are in charge of a particular nation, group of humans, or physical feature on the Earth. They wear a purple sash with a gold D.
Berachiel – “Blessings of God” – Head of the Dominions, also head of the guardian angels of nations and people.
Gagiel – Angel of waters and fish.

VIRTUES
Virtues are angels who personify a given quality. They wear a white sash with a gold V.
Eleleth – The Angel of Peace, who becomes sick as the war in Heaven drags on.
Abbadon – Friend of Eleleth who turns into the Demon of War, becoming stronger even as Eleleth fades.
Numinel – The Angel of Knowledge, subordinate of Gabriel.
Zadkiel – “Righteousness of God”- The Angel of Mercy.
Verin – Angel who later becomes the Demon of Impatience.
Dahaka – Angel who later becomes the Demon of Doubt and Confusion.
Bushyasta – Demon of Laziness, lulls people to sleep when they try to pray.
Asmodeus – Angel who later becomes the Demon of Lust.
Zebub/Baalzebub – Angel who leads the first rebellion against God. Later becomes the Demon of Pride. Lucifer changes his name to call him Lord Zebub.
Belial – Angel who later becomes the Demon of Worthlessness

POWERS
Powers are warrior angels who are in charge of the defense of Heaven.
Azazel – The head of the Powers who is chief in charge of the defense of Heaven. Later a demon who specializes in teaching humans the use of deadly weapons and subterfuge. His chief nemesis is Raphael.
Verchiel – Lieutenant of Azazel who later becomes head of the Powers. He is also in charge of training and tactics.
Raguel – “Friend of God” – Angel of justice.
Eligos – Power who falls and later becomes a demon who knows the future of wars and rides on a winged horse.
Cantos – Desk keeper of the armory. He is the first angel slain and sent to the Containment.
PRINCIPALITIES
Principalities are in charge of 100 angels. They wear white sashes with a blue P.
Uriel – “Light of God” – Kind, gentle angel who serves as Alizel’s Principality.
Kasadya – Calm, even and rational, Kasadya is the angel who later becomes the demon in charge of child sacrifices and abortion. He is unable to appreciate miracles, especially the miracle of new life.
Oliver – Double agent for Gabriel whose use of hate leaves him caught between the two sides.

ARCHANGELS
Archangels are responsible for looking after a group of ten angels. They wear white sashes with a green A.
Katel – Alizel’s archangel, sent to the Containment in the war.
UNRANKED
The lowest order of angels wear grey sashes with no letter.
Alizel – Main character, narrator of the Angel Wars saga.
Semyaza – Angel awed at the beauty of human females.
Cimeriel – “Darkness of God” later turns to Kimaris. Warrior on a black horse. Can locate hidden things and treasures.
Gylou – Woman who causes miscarriage or other childbirth ailments. Subordinate of Kasadya.
Hyveriel – Honey colored skin and sapphire blue feathers. Unranked friend of Alizel.
Mupiel – Blond Unranked friend of Alizel who is very curious about everything.
