…In conclusion it is rapidly becoming obvious more and more beings are becoming able, or at least envisioning the true nature of reality and the universe, the end of my communication went. Additionally their technology, notably their shields and weaponry, are advancing extremely rapidly. At this time no deviation from the plan is advised though the appearance of our stated enemies seems to coincide dangerously often to these Line Springs. As to that implication, I cannot speculate.

The Solarians acting as a proxy to the Aelisha seem to be piecing together the structure of the upper dimensions; it is going by the working name of ‘dimensional lattice theory’ at this point. Surprisingly they loosely understand a correlation of Line Springs and our enemies’ ability to appear. We had better hope something acts fast to combat this threat lest a repeat of the past occurs. In closing, we should consider this galaxy infested at the potential rate of at least 80% based on Line Springs gates.

A different being was communicating back to me. Thank you for your report, Guardian. You have performed admirably, as always. Enjoy your free time before your Partner is Cycled once again.

This part is always the strangest, ‘he’ said. The gender term only had meaning on a lower level of reality depending on the incarnation. Still it made it easier to understand, perhaps only to my recently awakened mind.

Always. I responded. Once my body dies, strangely everything becomes so clear. Though that’s the way it’s always been, has it not?

He laughed, if you could call it that; the expression and happiness were the same. ‘Ria’ lasted a lot longer than I thought, considering your Line Poisoning. She ended up being quite the fighter. Can’t believe you actually lived through that whole episode. Full life too; that’s pretty rare for a Guardian actually. This time was particularly fun to watch you and your lessons.

That time you confused the two twins for half the time you were working with them was my favorite, really funny. They were too ashamed to correct you, and even started playing into it so you didn’t feel stupid. He paused as he gave another ‘laugh’. I also felt really bad for you with that guy you were involved in. Anyway, I tried my best to keep you alive, and looks like I succeeded. The mining colony was especially close and what occurred there was not typical in the slightest but had to be done.

It was my turn to communicate now. Indeed, it was so strange, I had no idea about the visions I was having, or even when I came back to my senses and my arm was nearly broke off. I laughed a bit about it now despite how scary it was for the young girl I had been. I had no idea, but it makes so much sense now.

I felt so happy sharing our presence. I felt so complete. I recalled the time on that sieged colony, the emotion I felt toward my friends Dix and Bray, a lust that also had a deeply spiritual component to it. It was here now, given and received fully. Love on a level of energies fated together forever.

It was strange. It’s not often one actually becomes aware of their Guardian or nature, but during those events I often mistook them for mental anomalies even though they did seem to bear a strange aura of truth to them. I had forgotten that strange moment I was tapped into reality and was so easily able to survive that situation. Obviously that is also rare, and my mortal mind quickly forgot immediately afterwards.

There was a wave of appreciation and enjoyment emanating from him. With my guardianship and your temporary awakening, there was no way you were not going to survive, but when you fell back asleep, it took everything I had to keep you alive.

I could feel how sad he was at that time. We were temporarily connected, only to be rendered apart again. Now there was only happiness and love being together. Everything was so clear. The nearly endless Cycle the two of us were fated together in was hardly enslaving. Knowing my true destiny and the noble goal we served in fighting the darkness was liberating.

You rapidly became the interest of quiet a few when it was clear you were going to die of an age-related death instead of a typical combat death of those ‘Marked’. Even after being Line-Poisoned, to have avoided all the danger after that was impressive. A pulse of happiness/amusement. ‘Ria’ ended up being somewhat famous in a lot of secretive discussions.

It was my time to laugh. Of course in that form at that time I could have never realized just what being Line-Poisoned fully meant, and the destined paths it tended to put individuals on when they indeed become ‘Marked’ in a utterly different way. Old age was… an enlightening experience. We embraced a bit further, merging our energies slightly, enjoying the warmth of the other.

Together we had something that was a true definition of love. The painful irony was that as deeply we were connected, as true friends as we were, it was only these short moments together before another one of us was Cycled again. One partner was fated to guard the other through physical ‘life’ in order to achieve our purpose. An ironic love that for vast majorities of the time would go unaware and unreciprocated as the one being Cycled would have little awareness of the true nature of reality; all the while having little awareness of their love so close. We would only have vague premonitions or feelings that they were not alone and that someone was watching them. Something further beyond us was watching us, that as we stumbled through life, we were in fact never actually alone.

Enough talk. Our time was so short.

Our energies embraced, and for this all too short time, we felt together.

  As in life, I communicated.

  As in death, he responded.

Though maybe now I should be saying the other, I told him. It’s your turn now. We both laughed as we spiraled towards completion with the other.

  Afterword

I hope you enjoyed AilAid. AilAid was a major departure off of the prior two stories. The main character was a young naïve girl way over her head unlike the previous two where they were grown men very capable but in a bad situation. The biggest change was the presence of spiritual overtones which allowed me the flexibility to help show some of my ideas of the larger universe without hopefully being ‘preachy’.

AilAid is perhaps the most ‘spiritual’ out of all of the VayneLine Chronicle stories. Ria is a character that gives a taste of something far beyond life but apparently still involved in our dealings. Read as a single story it might not portray too much, but taken in the overall context of the VL universe it actually explains quite a bit and gives us a glimpse ‘beyond the veil’. Further, I hoped it was cool that these guardians or spirits were actually really cool where they lay down incredible pain on their enemies but loathe to often do it for some reason.
