“Rape and murder.”
“Who did he rape? And who did he murder?”
“He raped me. And murdered another woman that he raped.”
“Are you serious? Why don’t you talk about these types of things? Are you well?” he asked. His eyes sunk low as he looked deep into my eyes. I looked back into his eyes, searching for his soul.
“I’m a soldier. I got this,” I said. We then began to talk all night before I went to sleep.
I wanted to capture his heart in a way that no one had ever done before. But it was looking impossible because he still didn’t fuck me and we slept in the same bed. This nigga was a hard shell to crack. He knew what he wanted and didn’t want. And it was obvious that I was one of those people that he didn’t want. It was simple, he had a job to do and I was just convenient for him.
Chapter Thirty-One
Yazz
The next day…
“Whatever, just let me see your keys, I’ll be right back,” Red said as she stood in front of me naked. We had just woken up and finished yet another round of our ritual morning sex.
“Where you going?”
“To get us some food. That’s where.”
“Man, why don’t your ass ever cook?”
She turned around and pointed toward their kitchen. “If you haven’t noticed, we haven’t gone grocery shopping yet. I woulda been cooked if we had groceries. We just moved in here, damn,” she complained.
“Let’s go to my place so I can shower and get myself together. I’ll take you grocery shopping,” I said as I stood and stretched.
“That’s more like it. Let me shower real quick.” She gave me a smirk and went into the bathroom to start the shower.
While she showered, I picked up the phone and called Gee. I knew he was up early, he always was. “What’s up, Yazz?” he asked in a groggy voice.
“Hello? You still sleep, nigga?” I asked as I slid on my pants.
“Yeah. What do you want?” he asked.
“Why are you whispering?”
“I’m trying not to wake Diamond and Rena. Are you okay?”
“So you slept with Diamond last night?”
“Yes, literally. And no, I didn’t have sex with her if that’s what you’re getting at.”
“I don’t understand why you just won’t do it. What are you waiting on? She’s about to be your wife, boy,” I said, looking out the window at the city that never slept.
“Bye, Yazz. Call me later.”
Click.
Gee was a weird man. Surely, he wouldn’t be married to this woman for three in a half years and not tap that ass. I wouldn’t let him, we were going to have a serious talk when he got back.
I watched TV until Red was done with the shower. “You done?” I asked as she walked out the bathroom, taking her braids out of a pony tail.
“Yeah, let me put some clothes on. What you want me to cook today?” she asked.
“Not no shit that’s going to give me a heart attack. You know how to make Haitian food?”
“No, but I can learn. Before going to a grocery store, stop at a book store so I can get a recipe book on it.” She was now in her closet going through her clothes. “And when can I get me some new clothes, or do I have to wait?”
“We can do that another day. I don’t feel like going shopping with you today,” I replied as I walked over to her closet.
“Okay.”
“How long does it take for women to get pregnant?” I asked.
“If I was, we wouldn’t know this early. We’d have to wait a few more weeks. Why, nigga?”
“Because I want to get that part over with.”
“Well, we will see. Just have to wait.” She put on a Nike jumpsuit and some shoes. Then we left to my place so I could do the same thing.
By the time we got to my place, Red was talking up a storm on how she was ready to get her hair redone and get a few new clothes because she was tired of wearing the same stuff. Women did this all the time, so I tuned her out. “Are you listening to me?” she asked as we got onto the elevator.
“Of course, Mocha,” I lied. She started to go on and on about some more shit and her nails.
When we finally got to my place, I opened the door and let her in. She went straight to my fridge while I went to my room.
“Hello, Yazz,” Kasha said.
I looked to make sure it was really her and then I looked to make sure Red was still in the kitchen. “What are you doing here?” I whispered, shutting my door and locking it.
“We need to talk.”
“About what? And how long have you been here?” I asked.
“Since yesterday. Gee thinks I went back to Paris.”
“And why the hell didn’t you go?” I asked in frustration. I truly didn’t want her here. “And how did you get in here?”
“Gee had a spare key in his room. But that’s not important. I need some money.”
I shook my head. “Kasha, why you just didn’t ask Gee?”
“Because he’s been gone. And I don’t want him getting suspicious as to why I keep needing money. So are you going to help me or no?”
Kasha was one of those beautiful girls who was annoying, so it took away from her looks. She looked to be a Haitian model, but it didn’t matter with the bullshit that was always coming out of her mouth. She was mixed with Italian and Haitian, so she didn’t look like the rest of us. She sure didn’t act like the rest of us either.
“Shit, that’s my question. Why do you need so much money?”
She took a deep breath. “I can tell you this, but I could never tell Gee.I’m not who you two think I am. I’m not a lawyer, Yazz.”
“What? But Gee paid for you to get through school. You have pictures of your graduation. What about the bar exams that you had to study for that year and you were stressed out?” I asked in a state of total confusion.
“You saw pictures of me with a random cap and gown on and I wasn’t stressing over exams. I was stressing because I had fucked off some dope,” she said, waiting for my reaction. I searched her eyes for the truth and found it. She wasn’t lying.
“You’re a drug dealer?” I asked.
“Yes.”
“What the fuck, Kasha?”
She rolled her eyes. “I don’t have time for this. What do I have to do? You want me to suck your dick again? I’ll do it,” she said as she dropped to her knees.
I pulled her back onto her feet. “I’m about to take my woman to the store. By the time I get back, I want you gone,” I said calmly as I walked out and shut my door back.
“Did you get ready?” Red asked as she stuffed her face with cereal.
“Nah, I’ll just shower at your place,” I said as I grabbed some fresh clothes off my couch that had been there from the last load of clothes I washed.
“You sure?” she asked.
“Yeah, come on,” I said, holding the front door open for her. Kasha had just fucked my whole head up, but I would definitely get to the bottom of this.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Davinchi
“What was that shit all about?” I asked Skyla. It was early as hell and I was up on the phone with her while Pat was in the shower.
“That was my ex boyfriend.”
“I understand that. But are you aware that this nigga wanna kill you?” I asked, being sarcastic.
She laughed. “Yes, I’m fully aware.”
“And that’s funny to you, huh? Niggas around this bitch pulling swords out on you and you’re laughing.”
“He’s just a little hurt, that’s all.”
“Why?”
“Because I cheated on him with his friend.”
“Damn, so you just a dawg like that? I can’t fuck with you.”
“This was a while ago. And yes you can and will fuck with me.”
I grinned. “Demanding ass…”
“You know it. So when can I finish the job?” she asked.
“What job?”
“Sucking your dick, nigga. When can I finish?”
“You like sucking dick?”
She gave me a sexy little laugh before answering. “Yes.”
“Maybe I can fuck with you.”
“So who you on the phone with?” Pat asked, sneaking up on me.
“Say,B, chill,” I said.
“Huh?” Skyla asked.
“Not you,” I said.
“Davinchi!” Pat yelled.
“Send me ya address. I’ll pull up in a minute,” I said to Skyla before hanging up.
“So who you pulling up on?” Pat asked.
“Pat, get the fuck outta my face, dawg,” I said with her hot on my heels as I went to grab my strap so I could leave.
“That wasn’t nobody but that bitch Diamond,” she hissed as I opened the front door.
“Yeah, whatever, bitch,” I said before leaving. She had me fucked up. A nigga wasn’t even worried about Diamond.
She would be back.
Chapter Thirty-Three
Diamond
Three days later…
“Sooooo, tell me all about it,” Red said as we sat at Starbucks on a brunch date.
I had just made it back from Haiti a few hours before and had mixed feelings. I liked it there, but I missed being in NYC with Red. She was the only family I had, so I hated being away from her for too long.
“I mean, I learned a lot about him. Their family is so nice, I can’t wait for you to finally meet them,” I said as I took a bite of my bagel.
Red rolled her eyes. “I’m not trying to meet them folks. This is business.”
“So how did the session go with Lacey?” I asked.
“Girl, she told us that she knew it was a front, but we were good because we actually knew shit about each other.”
“See, you do like him,” I said while smiling.
“I won’t lie, that nigga easily has one of the best dicks that has ever been inserted in me. But Yazz already told me he a hoe. I’d be stupid to get attached to that nigga. I wouldn’t mind getting attached to Gee though. So did y’all fuck?” she asked with a smirk.
“Hell nah. And he slept in the bed with me every night. Didn’t touch me not once. Bitch, he didn’t even breathe on me.”
“You lying.”
“If I’m lying I’m flying, bitch. I’m dead fucking serious. I give up.”
“We still got years to go, boo. Don’t do that. Feel the nigga out first. Make sure he is who you think he is.”
“Did you know they had another brother?” I asked her. While in Haiti, I learned that before Yazz was born, their dad had a brief affair with a tourist and a son came from it.
“Nah, really?”
“Yeah. He’s older than Gee, but younger than Yazz.”
“Really? I thought Gee was the oldest?”
“Nah. Yazz is.”
“Where does he live?”
“Right here in the city of New York.”
“What? Does Yazz and Gee talk to him?”
“Yeah, but not often. I think they called him Emo or some shit like that,” I said. I caught myself about to feed Rena but I forgot that I let Ms. Livingston keep her while Red and I had some alone time.
“Yeah? Wonder if he fine too.”
“I bet he is. So tell me something, how is the dick with Yazz? I know y’all been fucking the entire time I was out the country.”
She blushed and took a sip of her iced coffee. “Girl, where do I begin? He hit spots I never knew existed, bitch,” she said as her eyes rolled to the back of her head.
“And you sure you’re not going to fall in love?” I asked.
“Positive. I’m just doing my job. I won’t say that I don’t like him, but I think I have figured Yazz out a little bit. He likes the chase. As long as I give him the run around and not like him as much as he like me, we will be good. Promise I’ma have my car in about two months. Three months tops.”
“Must be nice,” I said as my phone rang. It was Gee.
“I’ll be back. About to get more coffee,” Red said, standing up to leave. I nodded my head.
“What’s up, Gee?” I asked.
“What you doing?”
“Nothing. Having brunch with Red. You?”
“At your apartment, wondering where you are.”
“Starbucks in Times Square. Need me?” I asked.
“Nah, just wanted to see of you’d like to hang out today. Maybe catch a movie or go out to eat. Or whatever.”
“When?” I asked as Red sat back down.
“Just call me when you’re ready,” he said.
“Okay. Cool. Bye.”
Click.
Red smirked. “He calls at random times now? What he want?”
“To go out today,” I responded with butterflies. Even this small gesture showed progress in this friendship.
“Excuse, is your name Diamond?” A woman asked me. She stood a bit taller than me and her ass was fat just like bitches from Texas. She was ghetto fabulous with the blue hair and long nails.
“Yeah, why?” Red asked with an attitude.
“No reason. Thanks,” she said with a smile as she walked out.
“Bitches bold as fuck. I bet that’s one of Davinchi hoes too,” Red said as we watched the woman walk across the street to a booth. I started to go over there and act a damn fool, but not for Davinchi I wouldn’t.
“You ready?” I asked Red as I stood up and put my leftovers in a bag.
“Yes, I need to get back to the TV and watch my shows,” she lied.
“Bitch, you tryna get back to Yazz and that entire good dick,” I said as we walked out. Lucky for us, a taxi was just now dropping someone off, so we rushed to him before he could drive off.
“So, bitch. Can a young lady have fun? He is my soon to be husband.” She laughed as we slid into the back of the taxi and told him where to go.
“Shit, I might need to find me a boy toy. Maybe even let Davinchi hit a few times,” I said.
“Bitch, I’ll never talk to you again. Try me.”
“Okay, well maybe another one. I need some dick.”
“You need some toys. Wanna go to a sex store before getting Rena?” she asked.
“Yeah,” I said. Then she asked the taxi driver to take us to the nearest sex store.
I sat back and went through my phone, looking at all the pictures we took in Haiti. Gee and I looked so good together. I wanted him to love me, but not by force. I wouldn’t make him do anything. I would just hope for the best. But I made the decision that if he wanted friendship, friendship is what he would get. I didn’t have time to be hurting over a man who had made it clear what he wanted from the jump.
“We’re here,” the taxi driver said as we pulled in front of the small store.
“How much would you charge to wait on us?” Red asked him.
“I’ll just leave the meter running,” he said. But I paid for this trip already and tipped him, hoping he wouldn’t be an asshole and leave us.
We hopped out and ran inside. It didn’t take long for me to decide. I knew I wanted the Blush Loverboy when I first laid eyes on it. I knew I was about to have plenty of fun with it by the way it curved like a real dick. Then it had a vibrator to come with it. I copped that and a bunch of oils and stimulation products.
“You getting something?” I asked Red.
She laughed. “I don’t need it. Yazz is enough. But I do want this throat numbing oil,” she said, picking it up off the shelf.
“And what the hell you gonna do with that?” I asked her.
“I’ma suck the soul right out of this nigga and rule his ass,” she laughed, placing it on the counter for the cashier to ring it up.
“Looks like you didn’t need the oil to do that. Y’all been together every damn day since we signed them contracts.”
“Awww, you jealous, ma?” she asked.
“Shut up,” I said as we walked out with our stuff. I was pleased to see the taxi driver still there.
We slid in and told him where to go. We went to get Rena and back to our apartment. I loved and hated this city. Now that I wasn’t struggling like I was a few weeks ago, shit just looked different. The traffic didn’t really bother me as much and not having a car didn’t bother me as much.
When we made it back home, it was late because after picking up Rena, we stopped to get some toilet paper. I wanted to go grocery shopping before Gee took me, but Red informed me that Yazz already took her.
“Well damn, it’s about time,” Yazz said when we walked inside.
“Why did I know you would be here?” Red asked as she set the bags down.
I put Rena down and she ran right to Gee, who was out on the balcony talking on the phone. She banged on the window until he turned around. Then he slid the door open and picked her up before sliding the door back. That damn phone was still to his ear. This nigga was the busiest person I’d ever met.
I walked to my room and put my toys under my bed. I heard the door shit to Red’s room so I knew what that meant. I envied the way that they got along. I felt nervous to come on to Gee like that. But whatever.
Grabbing me a towel and robe, I got into the shower. As I showered, I thought about that tub in Gee’s parent’s room. I wanted one and I wanted it bad.
When I finally got out, I tiptoed into the living room and saw that he was still on the balcony talking on the phone. Rena was sleep on his broad shoulders and the sun was completely down now.
“I’ll take her,” I said as I walked out in my robe and took her.
He put the phone down and whispered, “I got her. Just get dressed.”
“Okay,” I said and smiled when I walked away. That meant we were still on for our date.
Walking past Red’s room, I heard her headboard knocking and just laughed while shaking my head. I knew from day one that it would be a sexual thing between them.
After getting dressed, I walked into the living room, expecting Gee to still be on the phone but he was sitting on the couch watching TV. Where’s Rena?” I asked when I noticed she wasn’t nowhere around.
“In the room with Red.”
“Ewww, no. They were just having sex,” I complained.
“Yazz is gone,” he laughed. “He just left. Did you decide where you wanted to go?”
