“Yup, it was right in front of me, too,” I said.

“What is the one place you want to go when you have a heartbreak?” Drake asked.

Dillon and I looked at each other through the reflection of the rear view mirror.

“To a safe Haven,” I said.

“And there it is,” Drake said, typing it into the laptop in front of him. “That’s it, and it’s working.”

“Hey Max,” Dillon said into his phone. “You better pick up when you hear this. We cracked the code of the flash. Call me back.”

“Woweee!” Drake said. “I don’t believe my eyes.”

“Why ‘Haven’ is the password?” Dillon asked. “What’s the connection?”

“It was her destiny to come to Heartbreak Falls,” Drake said.

“How do you know?” Dillon asked.

“It says right here in one of the articles…a document that Haven Hillshire, born to Heath Hillshire, the only offspring to the Hillshire fortune, is the heir to the Hillshire fortune upon the death of Heath Hillshire.”

“Our Haven is an heiress of her own?” Dillon exclaimed. “Not only is she the most desirable woman on her own, but now she’s an heiress?”

“Wealthier than the Bradshaws and us Tritons,” Drake read. “The Hillshire fortune includes noble lands across Europe, invaluable art, hotels, restaurants, casinos, movie studios, tech companies, biotech companies…almost a finger in every industry, including politics.”

“My God,” I said, not believing my ears. “No wonder why the kidnappers want her… so they can control whatever company the Hillshires own. Even politics.”

“This flash drive,” Drake said. “It’s like an inheritance database for her. It’s got all the deeds, statements, legal documents, ownership documents of every company, real estate, intellectual properties, banks, wills of wills, etc. that will belong to Haven."

“What do you mean, ‘will belong’?” Dillon asked. “Isn’t she the heiress already? Her father is gone so doesn’t it belong to her?”

“Her grandparents, well…one of them on the Hillshire side is still alive,” Drake said. “Fuck… no wonder why I fell in love with her immediately. She has such a sense for history, especially family history. The Hillshires go way back, much longer in family history than the Tritons. They went all the way back to the days of Roman England when England were just tribes and villages. The Hillshires may have been from Roman stock, too. Haven…I could see her as a Roman princess.”

“You could see her as anything sexy and beautiful,” Dillon said. “I can too.”

“Okay so she won’t inherit any of it because one of her grandparent Hillshire is still alive,” I said.

“No,” Drake said. “She can inherit even with her Hillshire grandparent still alive. Get this…like Diamond Triton and even Aunt Emma, she will get an inheritance when she turns 19.”

“What’s with it about turning 19?” Dillon asked.

“Back in the old days, which most of these inheritance wills were set, 19 years old was the typical age when high society ladies got married or when they were about to debut into society as an eligible bride. Having an inheritance and a huge dowry only made them more of a catch to wealthy and powerful suitors.”

“But that’s old-fashioned,” Dillon said. “Things aren’t like that with women these days, right?”

“Not in our circle,” Drake said. “The filthy rich are still setting their children up with arranged marriages that are just another business partnership.”

“Haven’s grandparents probably set this up for her, but haven’t been able to be in touch with her since birth because Dr. Hillshire wanted nothing to do with her deceased husband’s family, being the strong-willed independent and free-spirited American woman that she is,” Drake said.

“I don’t get it,” Dillon said. “Why was Haven’s inheritance information so dangerous for Haven to know…for anyone to know?”

“That’s not the only information on here,” Drake said. “The politics side of the Hillshires’ influence is on here too. Who was promised what, who has agents working for them in international operations. Which politicians got paid. Also a network of who’s connected to who? There will be a lot of people who wouldn’t want that information out in public. It would ruin them.”

“So,” Dillon said, “Megan got hold of this flash drive. It was hidden in her purse. She was about to expose whoever was in this flash drive and wanted it kept confidential, when she was killed.”

“For this flash drive,” Drake said taking from his laptop and then putting it back into his pocket. “I’ve just made hundreds of copies of it, guys, which may go public, if anything happens to us because of it. Haven included.”

“Now, how do we get around not having Haven with us when we drop off the deed of our condo to them?” I asked. “Any suggestions?”

“First of all,” Drake said. “We’re not dropping off any deed whatsoever. It’s not what the kidnappers truly want. And we know it. The deed is just what Dad and the useless Detective Holmes want to believe. The kidnappers want Haven. We all know what for. And she’s more valuable to them alive than dead.”

“Get Haven to come with us then?” I asked.

“If she’s willing to do it,” Drake said.

“No way! It’s too dangerous. I won’t risk Haven’s safety for anything, even if it’s just to catch the kidnappers,” Dillon said.

“Not just to catch the kidnappers,” I said. “It’s to avenge our mother’s death.”

“So…” Dillon said. “We need to get Haven back from Max.” Dillon’s phone went off, and he said, “speak of the devil…it’s Max.”

“Put him on speaker,” I said.

“Hey Max,” Dillon said on speaker. “What’s up?”

“You cracked the code?” Max asked.

  “Yeah,” Drake said.

“Wow, you’ve got some serious hacking skills,” Max said. “Maybe you can help crack open my SAT results, and…”

“Seriously dude!” I said. “Stop wasting our time. Where’s Haven?”

“If you must know,” Max said. “She’s with me, and by that, I mean she’s really with me right now. In fact, I would give her the phone for her to say “hi” to you guys, but her mouth is filled with my dick right now.”

“Fuck,” I yelled. “I warn you to keep your dick away from her!”

“She wants mine,” Max said. “I wonder why? Maybe because it’s large and can satisfy her in a way you can’t.”

There was a sound of moaning in the background, and then Max groaning, “Yes baby, oh fuck yes, I’m coming, oh yes.”

“Turn his ass to mute,” I told Dillon. “For God’s sake I’m in no mood to hear that shit.”

“Hey guys,” Max’s voice came back on. “What is it that you wanted me to know about the flash? Something important on there that I should know about?”

Then in the background, Haven’s all-too-familiar moaning was heard. The fucking hot way she would purr when she was being fucked. My dick was getting hard listening to it.

  “Fuck,” Dillon said. “Haven…”

“That’s what I’m doing,” Max said. “Fucking her hard as she asked me to, begged me to.” A loud grunt and then he was back to talking, “Yes, baby, you’re so wet.”

“Damn,” Drake muttered. “Of all the times…I,” he was working himself in the backseat. “Just the thought of Haven being fucked. Then hearing her.”

“Same,” Dillon said. He looked pained.

“Oh for fuck’s sake,” I said.

Haven cried out in a loud moan, “Oh fuck,” she cried. “Oh oh, I’m coming so hard. Ohhhh,” she moaned.

“Fuck,” Drake said as he groaned. “I need tissues or a towel.”

“Back behind you,” I said. Drake had just climax, jacking off to Haven’s moan from the phone. I was pretty hard myself.

“Haven, baby,” I said. “Come home to us. We miss you and want to take real good care of you.”

; “Max is taking real good care of me now,” Haven said.

“By fucking you?” I asked, trying to keep my voice from sounding like I wanted to murder Max right now for taking our girl.

Max said, “Haven asked me to. I only wanted to give her what she asked of me.”

“Yeah right,” I said. “You have wanted to fuck her since you first saw her.”

“Wouldn’t you?” Max asked. “Oh yeah, you did,” he said sarcastically.

“Haven,” I said. “Why are you doing this? Stop it.”

“Stop it when it feels so good?” Haven asked. “You know we can’t be together. Max is my boyfriend in public. He should be my real boyfriend in private, too,” she said.

“Haven!” Dillon said. “You can’t be serious about not being with us. You can’t break it off with us. You’re part of us. Our family…”

“That’s the problem,” Haven said. “All of this is because my mother and I became a part of your family. She got kidnapped because she married your father. She became a Triton. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t be where she is now.”

I looked over at Drake and Dillon. Haven wanted out, and she thought being a Triton was the reason her mother was kidnapped… like all the other Triton women before her.

“We got a message,” Max said. “About where Haven’s mother is.”

“I have a plan,” Haven said. “Please don’t persuade me out of it. You’re all Tritons, and I don’t need any Tritons meddling in my plans to save my mother. You’ll make it worse.”

“Haven,” Drake said. “We only want to help you. We want your mother back safe and alive too. Let us help.”

“No,” Haven said. “I’m doing this my way, and Max is helping me. He’s part of my plan.”

“Where are you now?” Drake asked gently, soothingly as though he was talking to a scared child.

“Someplace where people can see me and Max fucking.”

“Publicly?” I asked, too shock to even be angry.

“Yes,” Haven said. “So the whole world can see we’re together, and I’m not with you three Tritons.”

Max laughed, “Of course I couldn’t say ‘no’ to Haven’s request.”

  “Fuck you,” I said.

“No, fuck you,” Max said. “I got the girl…”

Haven said, “Tristan, you finally got what you wanted. You wanted my mother and me to leave Heartbreak Falls. You wanted my mother to leave your father. You didn’t want a new stepmother. You didn’t want a stepsister. Well…you got your wish. I contacted a lawyer for my mother. Served it to your father just now. She’s getting a divorce. No Triton names or anything. We want nothing to do with the Tritons.”

Dillon was the one who spoke out first, “No, Haven, please don’t. We love you. We want your mother to be with our father. We want you.”

“I’m saving my mother,” Haven said. “I love you guys too, but I have to do this. My mother, and I have to get out.”

With that, Max ended the call by saying, “And you Triton men always thought that women will kill just to be a Triton. How fucking arrogant.”

He hung up. I should be seething mad, but I felt numb. Haven had left us. By her choice.

Her leaving me was like she took a part of me away.

“Tristan!” Drake called out. “Watch the road!”

My eyes focused in front of me, and I quickly swerved before I would have rammed into a large four-wheeler.

“Get your head on the game,” Drake said, “Or pull over and let me drive.”

  I took a deep breath. “I’m fine.”

Dillon was on the verge of tears. “Man, oh man,” he said. “I can’t believe Haven broke up with us.”

“Haven’s going to the warehouse on her own,” I said, finally realizing what she was doing. “And she’s bargaining with the kidnappers by showing them her mother is no longer a Triton by showing them divorce papers. She didn’t want us involve to show she had any ties with the Tritons any longer…that she and her mother meant anything to us or us to them.”

“It’s the only way to get her mother out alive,” Drake said.

“Fucking brilliant,” I said. “Even though I hate that she had to be fucking Max to prove she was not with us.”

“If there is any consolation with her breaking up with us,” Drake said, “It’s that we know she did it to save her mother.”

  Chapter 11

  Haven

“That was hard,” I said to Max, as I walked out of the shower, drying my hair. I turned to Max and said, “How do I look?”

“Hotter than when you were a blonde,” Max said. “Black hair makes your baby blues even bluer…and so hot.” He came over and kissed me, his hands deftly untying the towel wrapped around my body. “Pretending to be fucking you when we were on the phone with your soon-to-be ex-stepbrothers was fun, but frustrating, Haven.” He kissed me passionately. “I want a repeat of our sexathon at my place here, Haven. No one’s here. And at the mansion…everyone saw us…Roberta…the gardener…”

I kissed him back and ran a finger down his muscular chest. “When we get my mother back, I promise you an entire weekend with you, any way you want me,” I teased him with my tongue against his.

He groaned, “Anyway I want you…hmm, that sounds so sexy. You know I want you any way I can have you, Haven. I just want you.”

He moved his mouth to my naked breasts and sucked on them until I was moaning. “We’re in a hurry, Max,” I said, “we need to get to the warehouse before we run out of time.”

“I’ll make this quick then,” Max said, moving his mouth to my folds and then pushing me to sit on his shoulders, his mouth working on my folds as he pushed me against the wall.

He ate me so raw that I was whimpering in need. “Need more?” he asked, his eyes looking up at me.

“Yes,” I panted. “I want you now.”

Max grinned against me, licking me as he smiled. “Can’t have enough of me, can you?” He lifted me and carried me into his spacious bedroom and onto the large king-size bed of his cabin.

It was decorated like a luxury hotel room of a ski resort.

He laid me down gently and leaned over me, his eyes looking into mine. “You’re so beautiful you take my breath away, Haven.” He kissed me gently on my lips. “Even now when I’m so hard for you, all I want to do is just hold you.” He kissed me again. “I’ve never loved anyone before, Haven. I’ve never cared about anyone else before except you. I want you to know, I’ll do everything I can to protect you. You can trust me.”

“Good,” I said, kissing him back. “Because I need to be able to trust someone.”

“You can trust me, Haven,” Max said taking my hand and kissing my fingers and then the knuckles. He kissed his way up my arm and shoulders. “I know you’re scared and worried about your mother. I’ll be with you, Haven when you meet with them. I’ll have your back.”

“You think I’m doing the right thing?” I asked.

“It’s bold and unexpected,” Max said. “You’re taking them by surprise so that’s an advantage.”

“So, when I enter the warehouse, you will be ready to carry out the plan?”

“I’ve double-checked the location, Haven,” Max said. “It’s the one built over the old entrance to the cave. Near the Falls.”

  “Sure?” I asked.

“I had someone posing as land surveyors walk by today to casually take a look,” Max said. “They confirmed it was that one.”

“Great,” I said. “And the Tritons?”

“Diverted the text that was sent them,” Max said.

I checked my phone to see if the last minute plans on my part was carried out.

“Everything is in place,” I said.

Max kissed me, “One for luck,” he said.

“I’ll do better than that,” I said climbing on top of him as I tore his boxers off and began riding him. I was filled with nervous adrenaline, and Max was too delicious to not have my way with him.

  W
e quickly came together before he flipped me over so he was on top and thrusting into me like there was no tomorrow. He and I exploded ferociously together before he flopped next to me, kissing me again and again. “I love you, Haven. God, I love you so much.”

  Chapter 12

  Haven

I got dressed. A very casual outfit. Nothing fancy. Nothing where I could not run. And I put my now black hair into a low ponytail under a black cap.

I wasn’t going to make myself an easy target. I wasn’t going to wear something bright to stand out. And I wanted to blend in, as one of their own.

Max took one look at me and said, “You don’t look like your old self. Nothing Haven-looking about you, except your sexy body I can’t get enough of.”

“Good,” I said. “I don’t want them to think I am Haven.”

“Not with your hair black, with bangs, and you dressed in non-descript polo top and black pants,” Max said.

“Okay then,” I said. “I’m ready.”

“I have the car parked in front,” Max said. “We’re just ten minutes away from the warehouse. I knew the cabin I bought with what little inheritance money I had from my father when he passed away would come in handy one day.”

I smiled, admiring the artwork that was hanging around the walls of the cabin. “A place to get away to paint,” I said. I walked up to Max and tweaked his nose, smiling up at him. “Who knew you were a closet artist.”

Max pulled me into his chest and held me tightly. “You’re the only one who knows about this place, Haven. That’s why I know it’s safe for you. I’ll keep you safe here from anyone.”

“Careful,” I said. “I just might fall for you.”

Max grew silent then. “Don’t joke about that, Haven.”

  “I’m not,” I said.

“Do you…” he gulped. “Feel anything for me?”

“Max, I would be lying if I said I didn’t find you extremely hot and sexy.”

  He broke into a smile.

“And when you’re sweet and gentle with me, making me feel protected and safe…” I looked into his eyes. “I think I do care for you. Love you.”

Max broke out into a smile that he tried to hide. He looked down and started fumbling. “I don’t believe it.”
