When Opposites Attract Page 6

  "Then, why are you here?"

"I wanted to ask why you weren't in school."

I looked at him, "so you were worried!" I said a bit louder.

"No I wasn't!" He said raising his voice to match mines.

I lowered my voice. "Well, if you have to know, I had surgery for my appendix, then something went wrong and I had a second surgery."

  "Are you alright?" he asked.

"See you are worried." I said looking into his eyes. His eyes were amazing they went on forever. They were blocked though. As if he had his wall around himself.

  "No, I'm not."

"You are so frustrating!" I screamed.

"Why can't you just say how you feel? Why can't you trust anyone?"

"Who says I can't trust? I trust some people."

"But not me," I said quietly. He stayed silent.

"Why though?" I couldn’t help but ask.

He sat down on my porch steps and looked up at me "It's my dad, he wasn't the preppiest guy on the block, he loved rock, black, and all that, and he was so cool, cool enough to catch the attention of the head cheerleader."

  "They were high school sweethearts?"

  "Yeah."

“That is so cute!" I said with a smile.

"But she cheated on him with some jerk before he died. We were all stressed and angry, but she had no right."

I slowly sat down. I winced at the pain.

"Just because your mom did that doesn't mean that she didn't love your dad. It could have been a mistake."

"Maybe, but she meant the world to my dad, and maybe they were just too different and I don't..." He looked at me. He looked so sad, so perfect to me right now.

"You don't want that to happen to you." I finished for him. He nodded. I nodded in response. I looked around while I chose my words.

"The thing is that your dad was happy and in love, don't you want that?" I looked at him and waited for his response.

  "Yes but," he drifted off.

"You're afraid," I assumed, " but if you don't take a chance you're going to die, unlike your dad, miserable and lonely."

  "You're right," he sighed.

I smiled I'm actually getting through to him. He no longer had a wall around himself and I could tell he was nervous. He looked around for a few minutes, then faced me and asked,

"So, do you want to go out sometime?"

  Chapter 13

  Anastasia

"Really?" I asked amazed; this can't be happening. Am I dreaming?

"Yes really," he said smiling at me.

  "Yes of course, but-"

"But what?" He asked getting nervous again.

"I hate to ruin the moment and I hope this doesn't offend you, but I don't really want to tell my friends about this." I said looking down at my feet.

"Why not?" He asked making me look back at him.

"Because it will be useless, I wont be able to find the right words at the moment and they won’t get it."

"I feel the same way," he said relieved.

"So I guess I really am your dirty little secret, huh?"

  "You remembered that?" He asked.

I giggled since laughing hard kind of hurt, "yeah."

He threw his head back and laughed.

I was thrilled that we were actually talking and about us! I think I may faint! My cheeks started to hurt from smiling so hard, but I couldn't help it. I'm happier than I was the time I got my first credit card, and that was big for me.

"Yeah I think so too," he smiled at me. I examined it, memorizing it since his smiles are so rare.

"You have a great smile." I said after I memorizing his whole expression.

"Thanks, but there's no way I beat you."

  I rolled my eyes.

"Cheesy comments, keep up the good work," he laughed.

  "What? You don't like that?"

I shook my head, "I never said that."

"I know, hey when is your birthday? And favorite food, place, and color? Cause you know, I have to know this stuff."

I giggled slightly wincing at the pain. He noticed.

  "Are you okay?"

I smiled at him, "I am it’s just recovery pain."

  "Are you sure?"

  "Mhm, and it's November 30th."

"The last day of the month cool." He said he smiled, but I could tell he was still worried.

"That's so cute, but you really don't have to worry."

  "Okay."

"So, what are you going to do for your birthday?"

"I don't know, I guess a party. Maybe a masquerade party, that way everyone will be wearing masks and you can come without a problem."

  "That's cool."

Then his phone rang and some scremo music blasted, making me jump. He laughed at me and I playfully punched his arm. This is seriously awesome!

He looked at his phone, then at me.

"I don't have to take it if you don't want me too."

  "It's okay."

  "You sure it's not rude?"

  "I'm okay, go talk."

He answered the call. All I could hear was a high pitched voice and it sounded angry.

"What do you mean you want to know where I am?" Angel asked annoyed, more high-pitched gibberish. I just looked at him. How could I have hated him for so long? He is so nice, sweet, cool and not to mention hot. Sure he looks like he is not my type, but now I can totally see myself dating him. I was lost in my own thoughts when Angel snapped me back.

"It was Sakura," he said as he put his phone in his pocket.

"I really didn't ask." I said calmly, but inside red alarms were going off: SAKURA LIKES ANGEL! WHAT IF ANGEL LIKES SAKURA?

Then wouldn't he be going out with her? A voice in my head asked. I swear I'm going nuts!

What if he won't ask Sakura out because she is going out with his best friend and I am second best? I asked myself.

  Oh good point.

Angel snapped me back by saying,

"I know, but still I wanted you to," he hesitated and I smiled at what he said or was supposed to say. He shook his head from side to side getting his words straight.

"She thought she was calling Pete. Apparently he is nowhere to be found." I don't believe that. She called Angel on purpose. Oh no! Now I'm jealous, great! I don't want to be one of those aggressive girlf- wait I shouldn't get ahead of myself.

"Are they fighting?" I asked to quiet my mind babble.

"I'm not sure, maybe." I thought about Sakura liking Angel. TELL HIM! Fine if it will shut you up!

"Angel, I have to tell you something."

  "Okay shoot."

I opened my mouth to speak, but his phone cut me off.

Angel looked at the phone, and then looked at me.

I smiled. "Go ahead it might be Pete."

  "Okay one minute, I promise."

"Hello?" Angel said sounding a bit annoyed.

"Pete, you're in trouble with Sakura."

  "Yeah, she called me."

"What? Gross no!" I wish I could hear both sides of the conversation.

"What? Aw man those were brand new wheels," he sighed and looked at me. "Alright, I'll be right there."

  He hung up the phone.

"I'm so sorry, but Pete was helping his mom by going to the store to buy some stuff and someone slashed his tires."

"It's okay, go rescue your friend." I said pouting a little. He smiled at me.

"Okay, but I owe you one." He squeezed my hand and ran to his car.

"You owe me two." I muttered as he drove away. Not even a kiss on the cheek. I sigh, oh well at least we're talking to each other, wait we're dating, well not officially we haven't done anything yet. I slowly walked inside. I looked at my dad and Jeremy and I laughed. Their faces were priceless. I went the kitchen to eat something. I would tell my dad about this later.

  Angel

After Pete told me where he was I pushed down the gas pedal and got there as fast as I could. The whole car ride I was thinking about Anastasia. She drive
s me crazy, she is so complex and different and brighter than I'm used to. I got out of the car and walked over to the store where Pete was standing by the door.

"Hey, Angel, where were you?" He asked, "and why are you smiling like that? It's kind of creepy."

"Sorry, where's your car?" I asked looking around the parking lot.

  "They took it already."

  "Oh okay."

"Let's go meet Sakura somewhere after I drop this stuff at home."

"Fine," we got in the car. We drove to Pete's house and he took the bags to her and I stayed in the car waiting. After a while he came back.

"So, we go to her house?" I asked.

  "I guess."

"Okay." I started the car and started driving to her house.

"So, why are you so happy? I haven't seen you like this since around, like, 5th grade?"

  Sakura

I heard the doorbell ring. Damn! I turned off the shower and wrapped my towel around myself. I ran downstairs dripping wet and opened the door.

"Derek, what are you doing here?" I asked surprised.

"I needed to," he looked me up and down then winked. I rolled my eyes. This is the fourth time!

"Come on, you're already naked, and wet."

"Ha ha, you're so funny," I said sarcastically.

"You know you love me," he said. I smiled and let him in.

“Shut up, it’s your body that I love.”

When I closed the door he attacked me. He grabbed my waist and started kissing me. I unwrapped my towel and let it fall to the floor. He pulled back to check me out. This time I kissed him and took off his shirt running my hands up and down his chest, arms, and abs. Then, I started to take of his pants. Once I was done, and we were both naked, he scooped me up and took me up the stairs. Throwing me on the bed, then climbing up on top of me and started kissing my neck.

  Angel

I told Pete about Anastasia, except some details, like her name, how she looks like and who she is, but I gave him a general idea. I told him I would tell him eventually.

"Wow, man I'm happy for you, but who is she?"

"Seriously, I already told you. You will find out later." I said laughing.

"I can't believe you wont tell your best friend! Where has the trust gone? The brotherhood has sailed away!" He looked at me.

  "Stop being so dramatic."

"You're the one being dramatic, but, whatever I'm happy for you."

"Thanks, so what about you and Sakura? What's going on there?"

"I don't know. I want to break up with her, but I don't want to break her heart. She always wants to know where I am, whom I'm with, and what I'm doing and I'm sick of it. That's not a real reason to break up with a girl is it?"

"Pete, Sakura treats you horribly. You're too nice and you let her walk all over you. If it was me I would have dumped her already."

  "You're right, I should."

  "Okay."

"Don't park in her driveway park here," he said.

"Why?" I asked parking where he told me too.

"I don't know, I just want to park here, to catch her off guard."

"You know, I thought only girls had those type of instincts." I said chuckling.

"Shut up!" He said as he shoved me and laughed.

  "Come on, let's go."

We walked to her house and knocked on the door. When no one answered I tried the door and it was actually open.

"Let's go inside." I said then Pete stopped me.

  "I don't think we should."

  "Come on, let's go."

  "I'm not going." He said.

"Fine, suit yourself," I said then went inside. I saw men/s clothes and a towel on the floor. All the lights were off, but the stairs light. I stood at the bottom of the stairs and looked up. I heard faint moans. I quietly went up one step at a time. The moans became louder and clearer as I made my way up the stairs and down the hall. I stopped in front of the door where all the noise was coming from. I swear Sakura is there with another guy, but who? Curiosity got the best of me, so I got closer.

"Derek!" I heard Sakura moan. Derek Meltz? The one Anastasia was going to go out with? Well, that's absolutely disgusting.

I slowly pushed the door slightly. Sakura was lying on the bed with Derek on top of her, thrusting himself inside her. Gross it's like catching your parents doing it. Poor Pete. Poor me! I'm scarred for life! I got up and quietly got out of there. How the hell am I going to tell Pete? How am I ever going to get that picture out of my head!

"Dude, what happened? You look like you just saw a ghost." Pete said when I got out of the house. I saw an ass that was as white as a ghost. Shit, that was disturbing.

"Really? Must have been the running."

"I thought running made you pink?" I shrugged.

  "Was she home?"

"No, I think it's best we don't tell her about this ever."

  "Agreed."

We got into my car and drove away.

  Sakura

We were lying on my bed, half an hour later, trying to catch our breaths.

"Well you were great, but I got to go." He said getting up and starting to get dressed.

"Where are you going?" I asked sitting up.

"I have a date with Kristine."

  "Oh."

"Bye," he said then leaned to kiss me, but I looked away making him kiss my cheek.

"Bye," I replied coldly then got up and got my robe.

"Don't be like that," he said as he followed me downstairs.

"Whatever, have a fun time with Kristine." I said as I pushed him out, then closed and locked the door. Alone again.

"Great," I said sarcastically at no one, then went up stairs to take another shower.

  Chapter 14

  Anastasia

I was eating chips in front of the T.V. when my phone rang. I sigh, where did I put my phone? Great now I have to get up! I reluctantly got up and looked all around the room.

"Aha! There you are!" I said when I found it. Oh my gosh, it's Angel! Yay! I cleared my throat.

  "Hello?"

  "Hey Anastasia, it's Angel."

  "Hey."

"I need to tell you something."

  "Okay?"

"Can I pick you up, so we can talk? We could go for ice cream?"

  "Sure."

"Great, be there in 10 minutes."

"Great," I said then hung up. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, making sure that I had no chip residue on my face. I heard the doorbell. As I walked towards the door I caught a glimpse of my reflection- sweats and hair in a ponytail- not the best look, but it was okay. I opened the door to see Angel looking like a dark prince in his all black clothes leaning against the doorframe. My stomach did some serious flips.

  "Hey," I said smiling.

"Hi," he said then kissed my cheek. Eep! We are getting somewhere!

We walked toward his car and he opened my door.

"Wow, such a gentleman," I teased.

"Yeah, well, I'm not just good looking." He said with a bad boy smirk, that I just realized he had. I slowly sat down. I was still very sore. He walked around and got in.

"I haven't seen you in a while." Angel told me as he started the car.

I looked down, "yeah, I have been spending a lot of time with my family. My sisters and I barely get to see our dad, so when we get the chance there is nothing that's more important to us."

"Not that you're not important, you are." I added quickly, after I realized what I had said. "It's just that I don't know the next time I'll see him, or if there's going to be a next time. None of us do, so when we have the chance we take it. No matter what."

He smiled at me. Not his bad boy grin, but a sincere smile.

  "I understand."

"So, what's been going on with you?"

  "I saw something very disturbing."

  "Really what?"

"I'll tell you in a minute."

We went to a cute Ice cream restaurant and sat down in a booth at the b
ack. I noticed that we were sitting really close to each other. Boy did he smell delicious. I wonder if I smell as good to him as he does to me? I didn't think about that very long since the waitress came and interrupted my train of thought.

  "Are y'all ready to order?"

"Yes, I would like a vanilla milk shake please."

"And I would like Ice cream in a cup and a can of coke."

"What type of ice cream?" She asked in her southern accent. You don't hear that accent around here much. It's very charming.

  "Chocolate."

"Coming right up," she said as she wrote down our order and left.

I looked at Angel. "So, what's up?"

"What I'm about to tell you, you can't tell anyone. Not even your diary."

"Wow this is going to be bad," I said with a grin.

"I mean it Anastasia, no one."

"Angel, I won't tell anyone. I promise." We both stopped talking when the waitress came.

She gave us our ice creams. "If y'all need anything just call." She said before she left.

Once she left Angel opened his can of coke and poured it into his ice cream.

"Gross, you do that?" I said making a face.

  "Yeah ever tried it?"

I shook my head. "It looks so gross."

He stuck his spoon in and offered it to me. I shook my head like a stubborn little kid that doesn't want to eat her vegetables.

"Come on, don't knock it till you try it."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine." I opened my mouth and let him feed me the ice cream.

"Okay, it's okay," I said. He laughed then scooped some more ice cream and ate it without cleaning the spoon or anything. I know I sound like a 10 year old, but Angel does that to me. I'm usually so sure with guys and a ton of them have shared spoons and straws with me. I used to not think about it, but with Angel it's all so different.

"So what's so bad?" I asked sipping my milkshake.

  "I saw Sakura."

"Yeah, that is bad." I commented without thinking. He laughed, but then got serious.

  "I saw her with Derek."

  "Really?"

"Yeah and they were... having... sex," he said. He sounded as disgusted as I felt.

Sakura and Derek having... gross, bad mental image! BAD MENTAL IMAGE! WHERE IS THE DELETE BUTTON?

  Angel
