My Baby Is a West Coast King 2

“He’s a Benjamin, what do you think?”

“I forgot,” I chuckled, getting that uneasy feeling in my stomach again from missing Mischief.

Since we had some time before the limo came, I picked my phone up and went on to Instagram. Instead of going to his page, I typed his producer and hood name into the tags to see what came up. His profile didn’t have much because he barely posted. However, that picture of me on there from a couple weeks ago was still holding up which made me smile.

Scrolling through, I saw mostly mixtape covers of rappers who tagged him, an old Ace of Diamonds picture which made me roll my eyes, those pictures of he and Aspen, screenshots of people’s iPhones who were listening to his brothers’ music, and then another that looked pretty new, of him at Ace again. Taking a screenshot, I sent it to him with the caption, ‘Went to see your bitch?’

Mischief: That jealous shit is cute. Get off me though.

  Me: Answer the question.

Mischief: I went to see a couple bitches, not just her.

  Me: I can’t stand you.

Mischief: Don’t hit me up no more unless it’s about being back together. I honestly don’t have shit to say to you if we not gon’ be in a relationship. Being homies with you ain’t an option.

I swear I read the message one hundred times before backing out and putting my phone into my little white wristlet.

“I have champagne, bitches!” Kady burst into our room carrying a bottle of Ace of Spades and three glasses. Just what I needed.

“Isn’t there going to be plenty of drink there?” Cassie frowned, while taking a flute from Kady.

“So what? You know Jude is gonna be monitoring our drinking and shit, so we need to get it in before we go.”

“True,” I nodded as she filled my glass.

Cassie closed the door, and we sat in the room until the bottle was finished. As soon as we were done, one of the girls named Tara knocked on the door to tell us the limo truck was here.

“Finished just in time,” Kady giggled. She had her blond curls out instead of in her usual slicked bun, and a white halter dress with matching white thigh boots.

The three of us came out of the room, and Amelia, Farrah, and Donna were walking down the hall towards the staircase as well. We purposely didn’t wait for them, so we cut them off in their path. I made sure to give them some quick eye contact, just in case they were feeling froggy about the small shit we’d just pulled.

“This is nice as hell,” Rita commented as we started to pile into the limo truck.

She was right. The stretch Escalade was decked the hell out, so clearly Jude wanted us to have good time on the way to the yacht.

“Music request, ladies?” The driver rolled down the partition and stared at us through the rearview mirror once we were all inside.

“Just turn it to Power,” Rita replied, checking her eyebrows in her compact mirror.

I wasn’t all the way familiar with the Los Angeles radio stations yet, so I didn’t protest Rita’s choice. And she must have chosen a good radio station because the other girls just nodded or spoke in agreement.

  “Ayyyyyeeee!”

A couple of the girls shouted excitedly due to the song, because as soon as the driver turned it to Power 106, Mischief’s tag, along with a beat came through the speakers. I rolled my eyes and sighed as the girls began to sing his brothers’ song “Good Girl” word for word, while winding their bodies to the beat. When I felt Cassie dancing, I gave her a look.

“This is my man’s song!” she reminded me and smiled. I guess I couldn’t expect her not to dance. When she said that, I saw Farrah look her way and slow down her moves as if she were thinking something. I just shook my head and looked away because right now, she was the least of my worries.

So there I was, the only one sitting still in the car, as these bitches grooved to a song produced by my ex man. Even Rita, who hated Mischief, was getting down. Was I ever gonna be able to forget about him? To make matters worse, I swear this station played the same ten songs the whole time, and two of them were by Hunnit Boyz, one was by Skido, and then Nuzi, all produced by Mischief. My night was not going well.

When it got to a song no one really cared about, the girls calmed down and just looked out the window at the beach area we were entering.

“So question, when you said that was your man’s song, which one is yours?” Amelia looked dead at Cassie.

  “Why?” Kady sucked her teeth.

“I kind of got a thing for Chaz so I was making sure it wasn’t—”

Before she could even finish, Cassie and I burst into laughter at her. Little did she know, she had no chance with Chaz. Not only was he married, but he had a crush on Erynne and he wasn’t the type to dabble in multiple women. Not to mention Amelia just wasn’t his type. Mischief told me Chaz was picky as fuck, and I knew Amelia wouldn’t make the cut.

  “What’s funny?” Farrah asked.

“Nothing. But I was talking about Kordell so you have nothing to worry about.”

Amelia looked dead at Farrah after Cassie answered, so I knew she’d made Amelia ask.

“Well put in a good word for me with Chaz then since you’re with his brother,” Amelia grinned, licking her lips as if Chaz were right in front of her.

“And see about Mischief for me,” Donna chimed in. “I heard he’s newly single.”

The cat was out the bag now. They knew I wasn’t pregnant and that he and I weren’t together due to those Aspen pictures, and me drinking like a lush at the last few parties.

“Girl, please,” Cassie waved her off just as the limo driver pulled over by this dock area.

The driver came around and opened the door for us, and when I got out, I saw Jude and two bodyguards waiting for us.

“You guys all look great tonight.” Jude hugged and kissed our cheeks. “Now remember, do not have more than two drinks; and only one if it’s strong. You guys need to behave yourselves, and be cognizant at all times.”

We nodded our heads in agreement, while a couple people voiced their compliance. One bodyguard got in front and the other in the back, as we walked onto the docking area to the correct yacht. The boat was housed with glass windows, and appeared to be two stories. I’d never seen one like it, and I wondered if Rhett owned it.

As the girls and I got on with the help of the bodyguards, I saw a couple of heavy hitters in music, sports, and movies already there. The party was in full effect, and everyone was wearing white, with not a drop of color. We all kind of split up, some going to get a drink, others running up to famous men to get in their grill, and others going to the dance floor; Cassie, Kady, and I were part of the latter.

“Get Racks” by O.T. Genasis blasted over the party, as Cassie, Kady, and I danced. A girl walked by with a tray of champagne, and all three of us grabbed one, knowing damn well if Jude found out we’d already had a little drink beforehand, he’d go crazy. I think we all were thinking the same thing because we laughed before taking a sip.

As I moved, eyes closed, just enjoying the music, I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around my waist. When I looked over my shoulder, I saw Rico, and then I noticed Nuzi come up and kiss Kady. I guess ever since she went crazy on him, he was acting better.

“You look good as fuck,” Rico whispered, still holding me against his strong body. His chocolate complexion was covered in tattoos, and his long beard went perfectly around his sexy lips. Rico was fine as hell for sure.

“Thank you,” I giggled, moving my body again.

I began dancing on him, not giving a fuck because at the end of the day, I was single. And shit, I was getting paid to have a good time so I was about to do my damn job. I danced with Rico for a cool three songs, and by that time, I was dehydrated and in need of water. Not to mention, I was tired of feeling his hard dick stab me.

“Where you going?” Rico grabbed my arm as I started off.

“I’m thirsty, nigga,” I laughed and snatched away.

You got a pretty ass smile,” he mumbled as I walked off.

I spotted Cassie and Kady sitting in this area with a table, so I went to get a glass of water before joining them. I didn’t notice Rico had trailed me until he sat down next to me. Cassie gave me a look, but I just shrugged before drinking that ice-cold heaven in a clear cup.

“Hey, ladies, I just wanted to make sure you’re having a good time,” Rhett appeared, smiling from ear to ear. He was good looking, about five-feet-nine, caramel, with a fade and tapered goatee. He didn’t look as vicious as he was, but I guess you can’t judge a book by its cover, because he ravaged niggas in the ring.

“Yeah, we are. Thank you for inviting us,” I replied.

“Definitely.” He looked into my eyes for longer than I wanted, so I glanced off. “Well, I hope you come to more of my parties…” he reached out his hand.

  “Laine.”

“Laine. I won’t forget.” He winked and floated away.

“He likes yo’ ass,” Cassie smiled.

“Nigga is corny,” Rico sucked his teeth.

“You jealous?” I cocked my head and he licked his lips at me.

  “You know I am.”

“Jealous of what?” Rita came and sat down with a plate of food.

“Rhett wants to fuck Laine,” Kady replied, taking a fry from Rita’s plate.

“How do you feel about that, Rico?” Rita looked him in the eye as we all laughed loudly as hell.

“Shut up.” He turned to look at me, and then leaned over to whisper in my ear. “Let me take yo’ sexy ass out.”

  “I don’t know.”

“So your boy can do what he wants but you can’t?”

“That has nothing to do with it. I don’t care who or what he does anymore. I make decisions based off of how I feel and nothing else.”

“Good, because I’m pretty sure he and Aspen are a thing. She was with him when Nuzi and I came to the studio the other day.”

“They work together.” I felt my heart beating rapidly, afraid that what Rico was saying was true. Even though Mischief was supposed to be no longer my concern, him being with another girl would hurt me.

“Yeah, but why would she need to be there the day he wasn’t working with her? She stayed for Nuzi’s whole session.”

“Anyway, so where are we going for our date?”

“I’ll let you know. But put your number in since I can’t get you to text a nigga,” he said the last part loudly and looked at Kady.

“I tried my best to get her for you, bro.” Kady laughed as Nuzi came to sit down, before pulling her over into his lap.

After putting my number in Rico’s phone, I handed it back to him and got up to go with Cassie to get food. As I did, “Good Girl” by the Hunnit Boyz came on again tonight. Lord help me.

Once Cassie and I finished our food, we got some more drinks, and just let loose. I even gave some pretty girl a freaky little lap dance…

  ***

  The next morning… Around 8am…

I woke up feeling like shit because of all the alcohol I’d had. When I looked to my left, I saw this girl I met last night named Spencer. We had a cool time at the party, including me giving her a dance, so she ended up leaving with us and I let her give me head. Bad idea.

“Hey,” I shook her before climbing out of the bed. I glanced over to see Cassie knocked out, which I was thankful for. She was downstairs with the other girls while Spencer was up here eating my pussy, and I didn’t want her to know anything about it.

“Oh my gosh,” Spencer groaned, throwing her long dark hair from one side to the other. She was gorgeous, and kind of reminded me of Erica Mena in the face.

“Yeah, umm, you have to go. I’m not supposed to have company,” I lied.

“Oh, for real?” She climbed out of the bed, still in her dress.

  “Yeah, sorry.”

“No worries. You have my number, right? I don’t remember if I gave it to you.”

  “Yep,” I lied again.

“Cool, I wouldn’t mind tasting you again.” She walked up on me and I backed away.

She’d been aggressive since we first came in contact last night, and that lap dance I gave just made things worse. I’d never had someone be so anxious to eat me out, but I was too drunk to make a wise decision and turn it down. Plus, I was horny. I laughed thinking about how Rico thought he was about to have a threesome with us.

“Well, see you later, babe.” She grabbed her purse and switched out.

I was never turning up like that again.

  Chaz

“Good Girl” was doing crazy ass numbers at the moment, as far as radio, song sales, and show bookings. I knew the song was great, but I didn’t think it would do this much damage. I couldn’t go to a function or listen to the radio without hearing the shit.

I was in Target the other day getting some soymilk for Jade, and I heard it as a bitch’s ringtone. You would think that I’d be tired of hearing the shit but nope. Whenever it played, I just thought about how much money it was bringing me. Not to mention, I loved the fact that the track was made by my brothers and me. Like we did that shit and together; just us. Three niggas from Compton, who for years didn’t have shit, came together to make a masterpiece. Can’t forget Ishmael either; kept it all in the family.

I smiled as I sipped my Arizona tea, while listening to this new song we were in the process of recording. It was Mischief, Kordell, Ishmael, Cassie, and I. I usually didn’t like bitches being in here during my sessions, but I’d grown to like Cassie, and Laine too, so I didn’t mind. Plus, Kordell called himself getting a new girlfriend. I wonder how Brooke’s pregnant ass felt about that.

“How is Jade?” Ishmael asked once Mischief stopped the song from playing and started editing shit. His brows were furrowed and everything. That’s how he always looked when he was in the zone. Shit was funny as hell to watch.

“She’s cool. I thought she would be sad for longer but she’s bounced back.”

“What happened?” Cassie inquired. “If you don’t mind saying.”

  “She miscarried.”

“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry! Is she out of the hospital yet?”

“Nah, she didn’t go to the hospital.”

“She didn’t?” everyone exclaimed in unison, even Mischief.

“Nah, she didn’t. I mean, I ain’t get all the details. She just said she lost it and that was it.” A part of me felt like Jade was lying from jump, so seeing these niggas look at one another as if they all knew something I didn’t, angered me. “What!” I roared, and someone had better say something fast.

“Well, usually when a woman miscarries she goes to the hospital, Chaz. I mean bleeding sometimes isn’t even a miscarriage, so the woman should always go to be sure. And if it is, she usually goes to find out why it happened.”

  “Thanks,” I replied.

I sat back, staring off and sipping my iced tea in deep thought. When I got home tonight, I was gonna have some questions that needed to be answered. Jade had better be prepared or telling the truth about this shit, because honestly, I didn’t know what I was capable of when I got angry. I became a different person, not the calm, cool, and collect nigga that I usually was.

“Turn the music back on so we can finish this,” I added, standing and pulling my jeans up.

  ***

  That night…

I walked into the house, which was dark and hot as hell, so I turned on the air after locking the door. Going straight into the bathroom, I cut the shower on, then closed and locked the door. Pulling my phone out, I did what I’d been doing for the past couple of days; rereading the texts sent between Erynne and I. I felt like it helped me not speak to her, because it was satisfying enough to just read what had been said. Plus, I found out some shit about her that also motivated me to just let whatever it was we had die.

I hopped into the shower, cleaned up, and then got out to brush my teeth. Walking into my bedroom, I slipped some boxers on, and then cli
mbed into bed with my back to Jade. I’d planned on getting in her ass about what happened to my kid, but I ended up staying in the studio longer than intended. But best believe we’d have a long talk in the morning.

“You’re home,” Jade spoke groggily before pressing her soft lips against my bare back. “I made dinner, but since you weren’t here I put it up.”

  “Thanks.”

“Something wrong?” She sat up, pressing her chin into my bicep so that she could look over at me. She kissed my arm deeply, and then smiled when I looked at her.

Turning onto my back I said, “Why didn’t you go to the hospital when you lost the baby?”

Her smiley ass facial expression immediately faded as she let out a breathy laugh, while shaking her head and looking elsewhere.

“I-I did, Chaz. I miscarried while at work, and they had me taken to a hospital. I lost the baby because I was stressed out, and they let me go home the same day.”

I ain’t know shit about miscarriages so how would I call her bluff? I didn’t know how long she was supposed to stay laid up in that bitch. Plus, Jade was never the type to lie. She always gave me the real, even when I didn’t want to hear that shit.

“Aight.” I tried to turn back onto my side but she stopped me.

“Why did you ask me that? I get the feeling that you don’t trust me anymore.”

“I’d just been thinking about it because I heard someone else had a miscarriage and they mentioned going to a hospital. I thought you didn’t, but now I know you did.”

  “Oh.”

She leaned down to peck me, and then started down my chest and abs. I lifted her up off of me, and then laid her down.

“Not tonight. I’m tired and I have to meet Mischief and Kordell at the studio at 6:30am, since he’s booked from noon until 10pm.”

  “Is that really it?”

Frowning as I stared up her leaning over me I said, “Yeah. Fuck would I say what I said if it wasn’t the truth?”

“Who is Erynne?” She tightened her lips together angrily. She was always so beautiful when she was mad. Her question caught me off guard, but I played it cool.

  “She’s a friend.”
