He grabbed one tit with his hand squeezing and massaging the tender mound as his fingers deftly manipulated the nipple. He pinched, rolled, and squeezed the nipple between his fingers as he thrust his cock into her as deeply as it would possibly go. He felt his balls begin to tighten up as the first waves of the orgasm began to build. He felt all the nerves in his body tingle as he crested the wave and he felt himself being hurtled towards the climax. The orgasm crashed into him like a tsunami.
“Jesus Christ! Fuck!” He cried out.
Jaxson came hard unleashing his seed. He gripped her hips tight crushing her to him as his cock convulsed inside her. With one last guttural moan, Jaxson released her hips. Shay collapsed down on top of him, both of them breathing hard with the exertion of the orgasms. The feeling of those beautiful breasts crushing into his hard chest made his not quite soft cock jump, and he knew it would not take him long to be ready to go again.
She rolled off to the side, and they both laid there trying to catch their breaths. Once she got her breathing under control, Shay curled up into the crook of Jaxson’s arm resting her head on his shoulder. He reached around and pulled her tighter to him, placing a kiss on the top of her head. He stroked her long dark hair as his other hand traced lazy circles on her arm that was flung across his chest. They both lay quiet for several minutes, just being content to enjoy the afterglow of the incredible sex. It had never been like this for either of them.
Rising up on her elbow, she looked down into his soft green eyes. She smiled softly as she placed a tender kiss on his lips.
“That was incredible Jaxson.” She said voicing her thoughts. “It’s never been like that for me with anyone else before. Only you.”
Touched by her words, he stroked her face and returned the gentle kiss. “Me either.” Then with a wolfish grin, he rolled her over, pressing his erection in between her legs. She gasped in shock that he could be ready to go again this quickly. She felt desire clench low in her belly as her walls began to quiver in anticipation. “But, I’m not done yet.” He whispered as he entered her in one full thrust.
Chapter 17
It was going on three o’clock in the afternoon when Shay finally leaned over Jaxson to look at his clock. She smiled at him and said, “I guess time flies when you are having fun, right.”
Jaxson laughed and kissed her forehead. “I guess so.” He said as he nuzzled her neck playfully. “How about I cook supper for us tonight. You up for it?”
“I didn’t know you could cook.” She said unable to hide the surprise in her voice.
He just grinned at her and said, “Hey, I am a man of many talents.”
She leaned up on one elbow kissing the side of his cheek and then traced her tongue along his earlobe, pulling it into her mouth to suckle on it. “Mmm, hmm. That you are.” She said as she nipped at his ear playfully.
“Stop it, woman. Or I will never let you leave my bed.” He growled.
“I could live with that,” Shay said suppressing a giggle. But then her stomach growled loudly. Jaxson just raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. Doesn’t look like your stomach could live with that!”
Shay pulled away to get up and get dressed when she remembered something. “Shit! I promised Sue we would have supper tonight.” She said to Jaxson apologetically.
Jaxson looked at her. “Ms. Adkins? Your next door neighbor? I haven’t spoken to her in so long.”
Shay leaned back against the headboard with the sheets wrapped around her. “Yes. She loves to talk my ear off, but she is such a nice woman. We have kind of become close friends. She reminds me a lot of my mom. It’s nice to have her around. You should take the time to visit her. She loves you so much. I know she misses you too.”
Jaxson ran his fingers through his hair and looked away and stared out the window. Shay knew that this was a touchy subject still. It was one thing for him to open up to her, but another to let others in. He had stayed closed up for so long; she didn’t want to push him too hard. But, she felt she needed to be completely honest with him. She turned and looked at him and then said, “Don’t get mad but I asked Sue about Jillian.” She could see Jaxson expression grow cold and she rushed through her explanation. “It was the other day when you were refusing to talk to me. I had to do something. I wasn’t trying to go behind your back; I was just trying to understand. To see things from your point of view. So I asked, and she reluctantly told me everything that happened.” She looked down unable to meet his angry eyes. “You know— what George had seen that day.” She trailed off.
“Jesus Christ Shay. This is what I’m talking about. You push too hard sometimes. Why can’t you just leave things alone?” He said angrily. He threw back the covers and got out of bed. Even in anger, he was beautiful. She felt remorseful as she watched him get dressed and storm into the bathroom without saying another word. She felt vulnerable lying there naked in bed, so she slipped out of covers and searched for her clothes. “I’m sorry.” She called out while she pulled her tank top over her head. “I wasn’t trying to pry, Jaxson. I really wasn’t. But, you were dead set against speaking to me, and I needed to know why Jake said what he did. It wasn’t the first time he had threatened me, and I felt like you weren’t giving me any answers. I needed to find out if he was truly dangerous.” She pulled on her underwear and shorts and sat on the edge of the bed. “And it turns out that he is. Sue didn’t want to break your confidence, but she was concerned for my safety too, so she told me about Jillian.”
Shay waited anxiously for Jaxson to say something. The silence stretched for minutes before she finally heard the door open. Jaxson walked out of the bathroom and sat on the edge of the bed and patted the space next to him. Shay sat down beside him and grabbed his hand, kissing the top before holding it in her lap.
“I wasn’t trying to hurt you or dig into your business. But, I felt like I needed to know the history.” She explained.
Finally, he looked at her and nodded. “I get it, Shay. It just caught me off guard. I don’t like talking about it, and I don’t like others talking about it either. It’s in the past, and that’s where I want to keep it.”
But that wasn’t good enough for Shay. He couldn’t just ignore it or pretend it didn’t happen. Or worse, pretend it didn’t happen the way George and Sue knew it had. “Do you believe what George said?”
He went rigid at her direct question and tried to pull his hand back, but Shay held tight. She was determined to make him face the truth. He quit struggling against her but didn’t respond right away. He let out a long sigh before answering, “The Hanover’s and Avery’s have had their history, some good, most not. But, I just don’t believe that Jake is capable of doing something like that.” Jaxson shook his head as he spoke as if trying to convince himself of what he was saying was the truth. “Sure, he’s gotten in his share of fights, but he’s mostly all talk. Besides, he’s my first cousin, and despite the history, we’re still family. George was an old man, and his eyesight was poor back then. The tree line where he was at was more than 100 feet away from that clearing. You know how he and Sue like to gossip. Maybe he embellished what he saw or mistook Jake for someone else because they were a similar build.”
Shay shook her head in disbelief. But rather than get angry, she knew the best way to convince Jake was not through emotion, but through logic. “I think you are being closed-minded Jaxson.” She held up her hand to stop him as he prepared to argue. “Just hear me out. Please.”
“Let’s look at it from a different angle. Sue mentioned that Sherry said it was a pack of rogue wolves in the territory. That she and Jillian were both attacked. Right?”
Jaxson nodded.
“Okay, well did you ever find any trace of them?” She could tell he was frustrated by her line of questioning. He stood up and paced the bedroom floor.
“My brothers and I searched the property for days. We didn’t track anything or pick up anybody else’s scent that we didn’t recognize. If it was ro
gues, they were long gone.”
“But, you searched as soon as it happened, right? Had it rained that night? Wouldn’t the scent have still been strong, especially if it was a pack of wolves and not just one?”
He stopped his pacing to look at her in the mirror on the dresser. He didn’t turn, and she could see the anguish on his face. “No, it wasn’t raining that night. We were experiencing a drought, and it hadn’t rained for over a week before it happened or after.” Shay could tell she’d given him something to think about but didn’t want to push him too far too fast.
“Okay, let’s also look at it from Sherry’s perspective. From what I understand, Jillian and Sherry didn’t get along.” She looked at Jaxson for confirmation, but he just regarded her quietly. Shay took that as a yes. “So, if that were the case, why would the two of them have been together in the first place? Did Sherry ever explain what they were doing or why they were together?”
There was no mistaking the pain in Jaxson’s eyes now. She could see that everything she had said hit home. He could argue anger with anger, but he was struggling to argue with logic. He said taking a deep breath. “Let’s drop the topic ok.”
Shay stood and put her hand on his arm. She understood that he wasn’t ready to share that part of his life with her and she wasn’t going to push him. He needed time to digest what she had said and to come to terms with it on his own. He would let her know when he felt it was right. When he felt comfortable. “You know what.” She smiled up at him. “I’ll go talk to Sue and tell her something came up. What time do you want me back?”
He gazed down at her, and she watched a smile spread across his perfect full lips. She could see the relief in his eyes that she was letting the issue drop. He dipped down and gave her a kiss and said, “How about 7:30 pm? That should give me enough time to have everything prepared.”
“That’s perfect. It gives me enough time to do what I need to get done today. Do you want me to bring anything?”
She watched a wicked grin appear on his face and then he said, “Just that pretty little ass of yours.” His hand slid down the front of shorts as he cupped her pussy and his lips dipped down to her ear. “You better go now. Otherwise, I might want dessert before we even get to supper.” He grazed the outside of her shorts a few more times making her squirm as she felt the heat rush back down between her legs again. She moaned, “Ok, I really need to go before we end up back in bed.” She said laughing and pulled away from him. He swatted at her ass affectionately, but she danced out of the way. She walked to the front door, and Jaxson followed her.
He leaned up against the doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest. “I’ll see you tonight.”
She leaned up and gave him a kiss and then left. “I look forward to it.”
As she walked home, she couldn’t keep the smile off her face. Not only had they spent another amazing day together but they’d also had a breakthrough. He had finally opened up a bit and also listened to what she had to say. She counted that as a step in the right direction.
She felt bad for having to cancel on Sue tonight, but she vowed she would make it up to her. Shay came up with the idea that she would cook supper at her house next week and have her and Jaxson over together. She was sure they would both be happy to see one another again. It had been too long.
Chapter 18
When Shay arrived back at her cabin, she felt a sense of warmth and happiness run through her. She was finally rebuilding her life. Greyson Falls was beginning to feel like home to her. Something that had been a void in her life for over a year. She didn’t know exactly what it was with Jaxson, but she felt a sense of belonging and protection every time she was with him. She loved that feeling. Something she had never experienced with Kane even during their good times. In the end, she only knew angst and pain with him. Walking on eggshells in an effort to make sure not to upset or get a backhand for looking at him the wrong way.
She had made sure to stop by Sue’s house after she took her shower and let her know she had to cancel. Sue didn’t give her much trouble about it, especially when Shay let it slip that she was going to see Jaxson that night instead. Sue just gave her a knowing look and then laughed when Shay blushed. Sue wished her a good night and said she looked forward to their dinner next week.
Shay had promised her that she would make it up to her with a special meal. She would cook her favorite dish, Chicken Kiev. What she didn’t tell Sue was that Jaxson would be joining them. She wanted to surprise the two of them. Hopefully, it would be a good surprise for both.
Shay still had more than an hour before she had to be at Jaxson’s. She wanted to pick up a nice bottle of wine for supper. She thought it was the least she could do since the man was going to the trouble of making her a special dinner. But, she didn’t want to get hot and sweaty from the walk to and from the store.
Sue had always said that Shay could borrow her truck whenever she needed it. So she went over and knocked on her door. Sue gladly gave Shay the keys. It was an old beat up Chevy that had seen better days. But the air conditioner still worked, and it sure beat walking in the humidity. She made it to town in no time and took a few minutes picking out a nice wine for dinner. She wasn’t sure what Jaxson was going to prepare, but she thought she would be safe with red. So she picked out a nice light table blend.
She dropped the keys back of at Sue’s and thanked her for the ride. Sue told her she could keep it for the night, but Shay declined to say that she preferred to walk. She bid her goodnight and headed back to her cabin to gather her things.
She checked the clock above the mantle and realized, it was already going on 7:00 pm. Walking the trail to Jaxson’s only took her about twenty minutes if she followed the river and then took the path through the forest that held the small covered path. If she left, now she would get there on time.
She checked herself in the mirror one last time. She wore a simple jean skirt, white t-shirt and a pair of flats. She couldn’t wear her sexy heels on the trail and not risk twisting an ankle, so the flats would have to do. She decided to keep her hair down as she left the cottage and headed for the trail. She carried the bottle of wine in a little shoulder bag as she walked the trail.
She had finally reached the river and turned to follow the path that headed through the woods. If you didn’t already know the path was there, you would walk right by it because it was hidden behind some brush. She had discovered the shortcut on one of her many morning runs. She walked for a few minutes, and all she could think about was spending the rest of the evening with Jaxson. Lost in her daydream, she didn’t hear the footsteps that followed behind her. But, then she heard a ‘crack’ of a twig breaking. The sound broke her out of her thoughts, and she paused to see if it was just a deer.
She was fine until she heard a growl coming from the left of her, deeper in the woods. Panic instantly rose in her stomach as she recognized the sound of a wolf. She looked around the thick treed area trying to spot the animal but couldn’t see through the dense brush. She took a few steps further down the path, listening intently. She had maybe gone five steps when she heard the growl again, but this time it was much closer.
Images of her recent nightmare flashed through her mind, and her panic turned into full-fledged terror. She didn’t waste any time trying to determine if she was being hunted. She just bolted. Her feet stumbled across the rough terrain as she launched herself towards the woods, her eyes frantically scanning the greenery around her.
Her heart was pounding as she made her way deeper into the forest. The snap of branches under her feet seemed too loud in the desolate surroundings. Tree limbs stretched over her head, acting as a cage against the outside world; the birds had long since scattered at the first sign of trouble. She was completely and utterly alone. There was nothing but her and the animal. She stopped for a second to catch her breath and to listen to see if it was still after her. She was off the trail and didn’t know where she was. The sound of her r
acing heart seemed to fill the emptiness around her and a lump formed in her throat. Glancing back over her shoulder, the trees obscured the path she had taken.
She knew she couldn’t stay here. Shakily, she pressed onwards. Her movements were unsteady as she moved further and further and into the mass of trees until gradually, after what had seemed like a lifetime, they began to clear, and she came across a small clearing. It was eerily reminiscent of the clearing from her dream.
Hearing laughter through the trees, she tripped and struggled to stand up; her eyes looking everywhere for the source. She needed to get out of there NOW.
She stepped one way only to have the sounds of boots trudging on uneven terrain blocking her. Moving again the sound of snarls echoed so close. She was being herded, and she had no idea which way to go. The hair on the back of her neck stood up, and she realized that whoever it was, was right behind her.
A desperate and defeated sob caught in her chest as she slowly turned towards the intense gaze aimed at the back of her head. Amber eyes seemed to glow in the murkiness, and as her eyes met his, a slow grin emerged revealing sharp canines. She'd walked right into the trap as he pounced on her.

The fogginess of the stale air disorientated Jaxson’s senses as he closed his eyes and tried to differentiate the various scents around him. It was already going on 8:00 pm and his senses were going off like firecrackers.
He hadn’t panicked when Shay had been late. He had still been preparing dinner at 7:15pm, so he just figured she was taking her time getting ready for him. That put a smile on his face. He busied himself with the rest of dinner prep and getting the table set. By 7:30, the worry started to creep in. He tried her cellphone, but it went straight to voice mail. It wasn’t like Shay to be this late for anything. By 7:45 pm, he bypassed worry and went straight to fear.
