Everyone broke down in laughter such a contrast to the low mood seconds ago. Luke entered the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee and picking up a biscuit. Lizzy noticed how he was carefully watching Anna and how she was doing everything to avoid his eye contact. Taking a sip of the hot beverage he cornered her as she was putting some dishes away in the cupboard.
“Can we talk Anna?”

“Then why are you avoiding my calls or walking out the room when I come in?”
Anna looked around at the kitchen, knowing that everyone could hear them but they were being respectful making lots of noise as they baked.

“Yes for the first time in days. We are going to talk Anna as soon as I get back from this assignment, of that there is no doubt. Oh and do not go organising anymore dates, the only man you will be out with is me”
Anna followed his path out the kitchen with her eyes, swallowing hard. Cora planted her hands on her hips, looking every bit the matriarch with her floured covered apron.
“I swear I cannot keep up with all of these hormones in here, oh to be young again!”
Anna said nothing and walked into the dining room to clear the lunchtime dishes away.
“Wow who would have thought it? Luke settling down?” Brianna asked.
“Well, there is always someone out there, sometimes you don’t have to look too far”

“We are ready baby. Time to get a plan in place to get Brandon out of that shit hole. Then I hope we can at least have some quality time together, I swear I have never been on as many assignments since I met you”
“Oh but if you did not go on that first assignment, then you and Lizzy would not have met and she could still be dancing on those tables in her heels” Brianna pointed out.
“Never again, that’s a private audience only from now on” he growled.
Lizzy took his offered hand as he led her through to the meeting room, Brianna hot on her heels. Brianna gave Marcus her most haughty look as he shook his head at her as she took her place at the head of the table.
“And just what do you think you are doing?”
“Taking my rightful place as alpha female”

“And like I said you need a bloody good tracker and that would be me”

Marcus looked about the room as a sea of amused faces were watching the exchange.

Sweeping Brianna up into his arms he carried her out of the room to the audible cursing of her tongue. Lizzy could not help but laugh at the spectacle and knew this would not be the end of it. Marcus returned looking slightly flustered, before taking a deep breath to compose himself.
“Ok, let’s begin. Luke pull up the schematics of the Oakfield territory and buildings again”
Lizzy licked her dry lips as the lights dimmed and her old pack homes came into view. If she looked really closely, she could actually make out her old family home. The feel of Connor rubbing circles on her neck brought her back to the present.
“As agreed, the team to rescue Brandon will be Connor, Luke, Tristan and Lizzy. As you are all aware by now Lizzy has her wolf back, last night went extremely well for her. She has also had an increase in her powers which I believe are controlled at this current moment in time. The order are going to assist Lizzy in this particular area. As such we stick with the original plan to have her open the cage holding her brother.”
Marcus pointed to a large building on the map.
“Lizzy?”
“That’s the main meeting hall, directly below the floor is the holding chambers, it is not shown on the map but believe me it’s there. I think there is an access door at the top of the hall, made of steel”
Marcus stood with his arms folded in front of him looking every bit alpha male.
“Fine then you know which way to go. Connor you are in charge of the attack”
Connor nodded his agreement.
“Ok the women. Luke and Tristan have been doing some undercover work for us and we know the identity of the three females. We don’t know how they will react to us, or indeed if they want to leave, but they have to be given a choice. Therefore, Adrianna, you will lead a small team to Lawson’s house, which is where we believe they are staying.”
Lizzy looked over at the petite woman.

Long story but she was born in this pack, left when she was in her teens to train at the warrior academy. She has only just returned to us.

Tristan stepped to the table.
“I agree with Lizzy we have to go today, the drive alone will take few hours to head south. To even suggest death of the silver heart is evil personified”
Every shifter knew that the slowest cruellest form of death was to have liquid silver injected into the heart, it was barbaric, archaic and no longer used, or so they thought. Connor looked to his alpha, respect shining back at him

At their alphas command, the room emptied quickly. Connor pulled back kissing her temple. Lizzy felt a female presence behind her and turned. Adrianna placed a hand on her shoulder.
“We will find him and bring him home safe Lizzy, I know it”
“Thank you.. Adrianna?”
“Yes we will get to know each other better once this is over but for now there is more important work to be done”
“Again thank you”
Adrianna looked to Connor, tilting her head in respect before leaving the room. Lizzy warmed to the female, she had an unusual energy which made her feel safe.
“Come on Lizzy, we have one hour to get prepared and I want to make sure that everything regarding you is triple checked and checked again, no mistakes, I will not risk your safety”
Lizzy let Connor lead her back to the Beta house to gather what they needed. One thing was for sure, by tonight hopefully she would be reunited with her Brother.

The snow had come down heavy whilst they drove and what should have been a picture perfect landscape was blighted by the very oppressive looking Oakfield territory. Brianna fixed her eyes on what was her old home, noticing how bare the place looked and how utterly neglected. They had pulled over to the side of the road and moved on foot to the edge of the land. The dense woodland providing the perfect cover. A team of eighteen enforcers had already moved into position. Even though the intel showed that there were only twelve wolves left, Marcus wanted to be absolutely sure of no surprises. Adrianna had a small team with her for the women and had taken her position as agreed. The plan was for Connors team to move in with the large group of enforcers, using them as cover for whichever wolves were in and around the hall and pack territory, giving them the opportunity to rescue Brandon. She shivered in the cool night air, her breath evaporating before her. She just wished she knew exactly where that son of a bitch Lawson was and the Neanderthal son Oliver. She was getting good at blocking her thoughts, Connor had taught her the 101 version of filtering what she needed from the rest of the pack. She had adapted it slightly where Connor was concerned. Not that she would ever want to keep anything from him but tonight was her one last opportunity to wipe out the past. If he even knew that she had some personal issues to deal with he would have strapped her to the bed back home. Not that he had not done that already but it was definitely not for ensuring she did not put herself in harm’s way. Hearing footsteps behind her she turned to see Connor approach with Luke and Tristan.
