“That’s where you’re wrong, Kane. We’re not starting World War Six; we’re ending World War Five. There will be no more wars after this, at least not in our lifetime.”
“Yes, but until then there’s just you and me, right now,” he says as he raises my arms above my head and kisses my neck, down to my shoulder. His fingers unbutton my shorts and he lowers himself to my waist, tugging my shorts down and exposing my dampness to his gaze. He presses his nose against me and then slides his tongue through my pussy. He spreads me wide and plunges his tongue inside as his thumb rubs my clit. My knees get weak, and I start to lower myself down the door.
“Fuck,” I groan. His tongue penetrates me and my body quivers under his touch. As he stands up, his hands roam up my thighs, over my hips and to my breasts.
“I …” he moans, but he doesn’t say anything further as his mouth covers mine in a sensual kiss, our tongue dancing and tangling together. I moan into his mouth as I push him back until the back of his legs hit the side of the bed. I unbutton his jeans and lower them to his feet as he kicks them away. His cock is hard and proud and I wrap both hands around his length before licking away the solitary bead of fluid at the tip. He sucks in a breath and lets out a low moan as I wrap my lips around him, taking him into my mouth. “Fuck,” he groans.
I squeeze him tight as his cock hits the back of my throat. I swirl my tongue around him and suck, lick, and grip him. His legs start to tremble so he sits on the side of the bed, and I stay to my knees between his legs. “Fuck, Jo. I can’t take this…” he groans.
I stand up and cup my breast in one hand and press one finger inside myself, dragging my wetness out. His hand is on his cock and he strokes slowly, watching me finger myself. His eyes glaze over as his cock gets harder. I straddle his knees and slowly lower myself onto his cock, the hardened tip breaching my entrance. I rest my body on his thighs and allow myself to stretch to accommodate his cock. He cups both breasts and takes one nipple into his mouth, his teeth grazing my skin. I put my hands on his shoulder and brace myself as I lift, and then slam back down onto his cock.
“Good God, Jo,” he groans as his hips rise to meet my thrusts, his mouth still on my nipple. He plucks and rolls the other as I grind my hips on him, losing myself in the feelings. He releases my breasts and stands up, my pussy still impaled on his cock, and he places me gently on the bed, before raising my legs up over his shoulders and bending over me. His cock goes deeper than before and hits someplace new inside me, a place that has my eyes rolling back in my head.
“Oh, shit,” I squeal.
“Yeah, baby. I know you feel that,” he groans as his hips thrust. Sweat glistens on his forehead and he pounds into me, setting my entire body on fire. “I’m gonna cum, baby. Cum with me,” he moans as he presses his palm against my aching clit, and with one hard thrust, my orgasm rips through me as he stills, filling me. He not only fills me with his cum, but he fills my mind with hope.
He pulls out and rolls next to me, pulling me into his side. My mind starts rolling around and I start to really wonder if this could be the last time for us. Things are about to change, in a violent way, but it’s time we stand up for what we believe in and end the Heretics, once and for all.
“I can hear you thinking,” Kane says against my ear. I turn to look at his gorgeous face, running my fingers through the now thick scruff on his face. “What’s on your mind?” he asks.
“You,” I respond. “I can’t believe that I could feel the way I do about you,” I admit. I don’t want to admit that I’m falling for him, because falling in love is not what people do these days. People are merely surviving at this point in their lives, scavenging for food and shelter. We have it good here, better than most. Kane has done a good job gathering the men he needs to keep this compound functioning as close to normal as possible. Most don’t have running water or electricity, and they’re eating whatever they can kill.
“And how do you feel about me?”
“I’m thankful that you found me, pulled me out of what I was about to endure. I can’t imagine I would have survived for long out there on my own,” I say, still not ready to tell him I’m falling in love with him. That would only complicate things, and I need him on his guard as we embark on our battle with the Heretics.
“Oh, this coming from the baddest woman I’ve ever known?” he teases. I shove against his chest, and the glimmer in his eyes catches mine. “I think you would have been fine; I saw what you did to that guy in the old drug store. Frankly, I’m surprised you didn’t shank me that day I found you.”
“You got lucky.” I laugh. “I was more than ready to take you out too.” I giggle. “But something in your eyes told me I would be safe with you.” I smile as I kiss his cheek.
“Well, I wasn’t so sure about you at first.” He laughs. “You could flat out beat my ass.”
I giggle. “Then don’t cross me.”
“Kane?” we hear Abe calling from the hallway. Kane get ups and tugs his jeans on, and I sit back and pull the blanket over me. He steps out and Abe’s eyes light up when he comes out of my room instead of his own. I try to listen, but I only hear whispering. I get up and get dressed, walking out of the room to see them talking in the corner. Kane looks over at me and frowns, but he comes to me.
“Abe and Dale are leaving tonight, they’ll be back in two days and then we move.”
“So soon?” I ask, realizing how real this is becoming.
“Yeah, you’ve got two days to get Emma ready. Can you handle that?”
“I’ll get her ready,” I say.
“Good, now let’s all get some sleep as it may be the last good rest we get for a bit.”
Kane
The next morning, I send Dale and Abe off, Dale still moving a little slow from the ass whooping I gave him. “You sure you got this?” I ask.
“Yeah, not gonna let a few bruises. I’ll be fine. But you guys be ready to move once Abe and I return.”
“We’ll be ready,” I say as they both make their way off the property, each going in separate directions. I spend the next two days with Joel preparing the explosives that we’ll need to take out Brampton when the time comes.
We manage to prepare six makeshift bombs, the electrical guys scrounged and found old wires from the destroyed barn and now we have six remote controls. These guys have amazed me with how quickly they’ve got this arsenal put together.
Jo and Emma have spent the majority of their days in the arms room. “You guys using up all the ammo?” I ask as I step in just in time to see Emma blow a target away. “Nice shot,” I say, and she smiles, overwhelming confidence on her face. I watch her take a few more shots before she sets the AK back on the rack.
“The AK, huh? Jo’s got you ready for that one?”
“I can use it if I need to, but I’ll settle for the Remington .38 to blow Vic’s head off.” She giggles. “I want to make sure I’m in his face when I destroy him.”
“Good—” I’m interrupted with a commotion outside. I look out the window to see Abe and Lance standing there, their hands above their heads and fear cresting their faces. “Fuck,” I groan and grab an UZI, tossing a weapon to both women. “You ready? Because it looks like World War six is about to begin, right here on our territory.”
“What’s going on?” Jo asks as she peers out the window. “Holy Shit,” she says as she finds a small hole in the side of the metal building. “It’s only one, Kane. I can take him,” she says as she aims, her arms shaking a little as she gets herself together.
“I’ve got this, Jo,” I say as I try and coax her back.
“Look, they don’t know we’re in here. And, it looks like there’s only one holding both of them. One shot and we’re home free.”
“Yeah, but I bet the guy isn’t alone. We take him out and we start a shit storm.”
“We don’t take him out, and we lose two good men.”
I know she’s right, but I’d hoped to get to Brampton before we had to s
hoot anyone, but no one messes with my men, and I’m proud of Jo for stepping in. “You know I can get him, with one shot.”
I nod. “Go ahead. Take him out.”
“Hey, Emma, watch this!” she says with an evil grin. She scans the area to make sure no one else is in the way and when she gets him in her sight, she pulls the trigger, the explosive sound echoing throughout the building, the thunk of the man’s body following. I slowly walk out of the arms building and Abe and Lance grab their own guns and point them toward the man bleeding out on the ground.
“Nice shot, Kane,” Abe says as he kicks the gun out of the dead man’s hands.
“Wasn’t me,” I say as Jo comes up behind me.
“Wow, well then,” Abe says as he looks around. “They aren’t far behind us; we’ve got to move now.”
“Now?
“Yeah, we had a run-in with a group of Heretics, and they’ve followed us. I imagine they’ll be here any second.”
The men in the compound have all come out, having heard the gunshot. “All right, men, we’re heading out!” I say as they all stand there staring. “This is not a drill, men,” I say, pointing to the dead guy on the ground. “Let’s go!” I scream and they all scurry to get what they need.
Before I can gather everyone back out back, gunfire erupts and the people that have returned, scatter. I duck back into the arms room and load the AK, preparing it for a raid, pulling Jo and Emma inside with me. “Stay in here while I go clean house, you hear me?” I stare at Jo, knowing she’ll defy me and try and kill everyone. “Don’t leave Emma alone in here, stay down and don’t do anything stupid,” I whisper as I make sure they’re secure in the back corner
I go back out and hide behind the building and immediately see a masked man taking aim on the house with some sort of grenade launcher. I aim my gun and fire, blowing his head off before bullets rain down on the side of the building. I duck back and wait for the shower of death to stop, before peeking around and seeing three more masked men running to their downed comrade. I wait until they’ve hunkered down before raining my own shower of bullets into their bodies. They all fall to the ground in thuds, one’s body draped over his fallen man.
All calms down a little. “Come on. We’ve gotta go,” I say to the girls as I hand them both a weapon. “Heretics have masks on, so don’t be afraid to shoot if needed,” I say as they both get situated with their guns.
“You girls ready for this?” I ask, squeezing Jo’s hand and nodding toward Emma. They nod, though I think they thought they had a few more days to mentally prepare. I thought so too, but since we’ve been discovered, we’ve got to move now. Dale pulls the old, beat-up pick up around, and I shuffle the girls outside and into the truck, as others crawl in the back. Abe and Dale and a few others ride on horseback and take off through the yard toward the back of the property.
“Now, the rest of you will circle the car as we travel as quickly as we can. Your job is to take out anything that doesn’t belong,” I say. Joel is on Lady and he comes up leading Corndog so I jump on Corndog and we move out. Some of Dale’s guys have their own horses, so we take the lead and keep a watchful eye for anything suspicious. We have a lot of men, and having them out in the open isn’t good, I just pray they can run if ambushed. We need them in OKC and I’d rather them take the cowardly option and run than get themselves killed. As we exit the property, I recognize one of the dead guys on the ground. “Hold up a second,” I say as everyone stops. I get off the horse and bend over Lance, who has a bullet right through his head. “Fuck,” I groan as I rub my hand across my face. “Sorry, Lance,” I whisper as I get back on the horse. I can’t let this affect me, or it’ll only cause me to lose focus, and I can’t lose focus right now.
“We’ll meet up with the others on the old Trosper Park Golf Course. It’s overgrown and full of wildlife now, but there’s an opening near the pond. That’s the meet up point. Once we get there, we’ll group off and head toward Brampton,” Abe says as we start our journey.
We make it around the bend and up a large hill when an explosion rocks the landscape. Dale stops the truck and everyone piles out to see the large, black-plume of smoke that rises up into the cloudy sky. We all look at each other, but no one speaks. Though, we all know that the compound is now nothing but a burning pile of rubble. Two more explosions shake the ground and the girls jump back in the truck.
“It’s on guys, let’s go,” I say as I lead Corndog through the group and lead the team into what may be our biggest battle yet. Hours go by and we’re in the middle of nowhere, until we see the old street sign for Norman. “We’re making better time that I thought we would,” I say as the truck pulls up beside me. “Let’s put the old man in the truck for a while. Hank you jump in with Emma and Jo, climb on behind me. Bring your gun,” I say as we shift positions.
Jo climbs onto Corndog behind me, tucking her gun into her jeans and wrapping her arms around my waist. She’s tense, as I expected her to be, but I’m glad that she talked me into bringing her and Emma. They’d be dead if I’d left them behind.
The sun is starting to go down, so we stop to eat and rest off the road in the shade. The guys on foot are tired and worn down, so we rest a bit and watch the sunset over the dusty land. I lean back against a tree and something catches my eye, so I stand up and walk behind us to avoid making anyone nervous. I focus and up ahead is a large group of men, some on horseback. I whistle to get the attention of the others and they’re quickly beside me as the group of men approach us. I hold two fingers up in an expression of peace and they follow suit, coming toward us and joining our army.
“Glad to have you guys with us,” I tell the main guy, who’s bald and sunburned.
“Wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to end this, I’m Len,” he says as I shake his hand.
“Kane, and this is Abe and Dale.”
“Yeah, Dale is the one that visited a few days ago. Glad to see you made it back safely.”
“Well, it almost didn’t happen, which is why we had to bug out earlier.”
“We’ve got your back,” he says. “You’ve got quite the army here.” He looks at all the men behind us, some holding their guns ready to shoot.
“Yeah, ‘bout a hundred. How many you got?” I ask.
“Forty-six, and we picked up two along the way. Seems we ain’t the only ones ready for this shit to be over.”
“Well, let’s get some rest and get ready to head out at first light.”
“You got any women with ya?” Len asks, and I immediately go on guard.
“And you would need to know this why?” I ask, ready to take him out if he’s lying to me.
“Relax, man, I’ve got three here with me. They’re pretty tired, and it might help for them to have some company, they’ve been through shit and now we’re only going back to where they just escaped from.”
“I know, yeah. We’ve got two with us, bring them over. They’re in the truck.”
“Jo, can you guys step out here, please?” I ask into the window. Emma is asleep, but Jo nods and gets out of the truck. As she stands next to me, three women hastily make their way toward us, obviously scared to death.
“Oh. My. God,” Jo takes off in a sprint toward the women.
“Jo, wait!” I say running after her. She stops short of the women and smiles.
“Lucy,” she says as she hugs one of the women. “You made it,” she says.
“Yes, thanks to you.” She hugs her again. “Come, Emma is in the truck.”
“Emma? She made it too? I heard Vic killed her.”
“He damn near did, but she survived, just like the rest of us.”
They walk to the truck and Emma gets out, rubbing her face. When her eyes connect with Lucy she grins, and all the women hug and cry before climb back into the cab.
“Well, that was interesting,” I say to Len as his men gather behind him.
“What’s the plan?” he asks.
“Come on, let’s head over and gather t
he men. We can update the girls later.”
Abe has the old map spread out over the ground, the corners held down with rocks. He points to where we are on the map and looks up, nodding at Len and the others. “We should hit Trosper mid-day tomorrow where we’ll wait for the rest. We should have a large group to help take down the clinic.”
After a bit everyone spreads out and we all get the rest we need, if you can call it rest. The girls are in the truck sleeping and my body aches to hold Jo. I have to pull away during this and let her do her thing, so I can do mine. Though anyone touches her and they’re a dead man. Before we know it, the sun starts to crest over the hill and everyone begins to stir. I’m amazed we had a quiet night; I expected the Heretics to have followed us. Well, the ones that we didn’t kill at the compound. My mind is spinning and I pray we can pull this off. But what if we do, where will we go then? The compound is gone, and we’re now out here on our own with no shelter and very little food. Just then, gunfire erupts and Abe runs toward the open field after Joel, who’s just fired his gun.
I grab my weapon as the other men stand up and grab theirs, waiting to see what Joel just shot. A few minutes later, he drags a deer up to the grounds and smiles. “Breakfast!” He laughs as he leans down to gut the animal. Abe gets a fire going and throws the meat on, the smell causing all of our stomachs to rumble. It’s not a big deer, and there’s a lot of men here, so we ration it out and all take small pieces, just enough to keep our strength up.
“You guys ready to hit it?” I ask all the men that are now grouped up together, all of them nodding.
We get into the same formation as before, and Len’s men also lead up the front with the women on their horses. The ground is hard and dry, but the clouds up ahead indicate it may rain, which would be welcome. We can set cups out and catch rainwater to drink and cool us all off a bit. As we cross into the old Norman city limits we find an old building to pile up in, with others keeping watch while others rest.
