Finding Her Men [Men of the Border Lands 7] (Siren Publishing Ménage Everlasting) Page 12

After a minute of silence, voices broke out as everyone talked at once. She tried to hear what all was being said, but gave up when all she could figure out was that the food looked good. They had all contributed, but gathered there at their house this first time.

She had been so scared the men wouldn’t want to work with the others in forming a community. They hadn’t been real sure about some of the things the other men were talking about, but so far, they were working through it. It meant that she got to spend more time with the other women, and would meet more of them later when spring came around again.

The fact that it wasn’t long away lifted her spirits. She was ready to put in the garden and see something that she’d had a hand in grow. Her men were having a hard time keeping her excitement at the warmer temperatures under control.

Luke kept calling her a bouncing ball. She supposed she couldn’t be still, or stay on a single subject for long, for that matter. Everything was working out so well and she wanted it to continue.

“Valerie, have you planned your garden yet?” Ronnie asked.

“Yes, I have it all drawn out. I used a lot of your ideas. I really appreciate both of you giving me pointers on what to plant next each other. I never knew it could make a difference.”

April smiled and nodded. “We’ll teach you how to make butter from your milk next. I brought the instructions with me, but you need to see it done once before you try it.”

There was so much to learn, and she couldn’t wait to start. The women were generous with information and their help. Luke and Grant had both agreed that the men were free with their help as well.

Once everyone had left late that evening, Grant and Luke helped her with the last of the cleanup. Most everything had been taken care of by the other women. She was grateful for their assistance since it would have taken hours to wash everything and put it away.

“Did you have a good time, baby?” Luke pulled her in for a hug.

“I had a wonderful time. They are all so nice and I’ve learned so much from them. They’re teaching me how to churn butter!”

“Hmmm, butter would be nice to have sometimes. Like on toast or your rolls.” Grant leaned over and kissed her on the mouth before heading toward the stairs. “Let’s go to bed, guys. I don’t know about you two, but I’m bushed.”

Luke grinned and pushed Valerie after Grant. “You heard the man. It’s time for bed.”

“Hmmm, bed, or something else?” she asked.

“Well, I’m sure we could be persuaded to see what comes up.” Luke chuckled.

She ran across the landing to the bedroom and wrapped her arms around Grant as he was pulling off his shirt.

“I love you, Grant. I’m so glad I found you two. I knew when I chose you that you would be perfect for me.”

Grant turned in her arms and held her face still as he looked into her eyes.

“I’m glad you chose us, too, honey. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without you in it.”

Luke pulled her out of Grant’s arms and carried her to the bed. He dropped her so that she bounced, then threw himself over her.

“You’re our choice, too, baby. We were waiting for someone and didn’t know that she was out there looking for us at the same time. I love you, baby.”

  “I love you, Luke.”

She reached out to Grant and held his hand as she held Luke against her breasts. She hoped that Esther and her husbands were doing well. If not for them, she would never have found her two men. But she had, and their lives had just begun.
