“Good morning, Dad. Are you nervous?”

  “Yes, a little. You?”

“Well, Dad, I have been wondering how you’re going to walk me down the aisle if you are up front waiting for Raelyn.”

“I think Henry and I will walk the brides down together. Jeffrey, my best man, and Bill, Jack’s brother, will be waiting with the minister. They will walk in first with Meredith, your bridesmaid. At least that is what Mary told me.” Carson laughed. “Mary has everything under control. She has done this quite a few times you know.”

“You know, Dad, I like Meredith. She has already become a good friend and now the sister I never had. I’m so happy.” Maggie hugged her Dad. “Are you happy, Dad? I already love Raelyn. She is an amazing person. But is she going to be happy living here as you manage this ranch?”

“Maggie, I like to keep a low profile here. Henry and I built this ranch together. I own half of it. Raelyn and I are going to build a home on the hill, west of the lake and in the middle of the woods. That way, we will be out of sight of the guests. She has already talked with the contractors and is thrilled to have a home of her own.” Carson took the saddle off Stacy, and they both walked back into the stable. “She has been writing her memoirs as well and is excited to finish that.”

“Is she allowed to do that, Dad?”

“She has to run everything through the company, but yes she is allowed.”

“This will be a great happy day. I’ll see you later, Dad. I have spa plans for this morning.” Maggie looked over the decorations as she walked back to the ranch house.

The whiteboard fencing along the drive to the ranch house was decorated with beautiful white roses and wildflowers. It was only right she has remembrances of her mother on her wedding day. The wedding took place outside under the live oak trees facing the lake. Carson brought his favorite horses up to the front corral; they were a beautiful sight. Timber, Aussie, and Freckles were allowed to roam at will. However, all three came to the front and sat behind the couples during the ceremony.

Maggie and Jack moved to Jack’s ranch, closest to Houston. Timber and Stacy came with them, along with another of Carson's stallions, and the mustang Jack chose. Dr. Brickson was arrested when he came back to Houston from Brazil. The woman he had accosted had been approached by another young woman who had had the same experiences with the man. They both went to the police.

Bill and Meredith came over to their ranch for a BBQ the first month. They had a plan. “Maggie,” Meredith was helping Maggie in the kitchen, “Bill and I would like to ask a favor. We need some research to convince the board about making some changes that would be more friendly to the ocean creatures I am sure we disturb. You could work from home, and we have the helicopter for quick meetings if need be.”

Maggie listened and liked their idea. At least, while working in the industry, real change could be made. They all sat down at the table for their Texas BBQ with a contented smile on their faces. Jack leaned back. “I think life is perfect. You two are happily running the company, and I am certainly happy here running my ranches. And we’d like to start a family.”

Bill shook his head no. “I don’t think things are quite perfect yet, Jack.” Bill got up and went to the car. He came back carrying a puppy that looked just like Checkers, Jack’s dog growing up. As he handed the puppy to Jack, he smiled. “Now things are just about perfect.” The puppy climbed up his chest and started licking Jack’s scratchy beard. With immense gratitude and love for his family, Jack looked over at Maggie and took her hand.

  “Yes, now things are perfect.”
