Amelia slipped her hands into Landen’s as they turned to face Harriett’s husband Jeff, who was a Supreme Court judge. He had agreed to perform the ceremony.

“Are you two ready?” He asked with a smile, as he leaned into them both.

“More than you know,” Landen replied with a broad smile.

“Then let’s get this show on the road,” Jeff said with a big smile.

Soon the moment came for Landen to say his vows, and to his surprise, he was more emotional than he thought he would be. The vows he had memorised earlier no longer seem right anymore. So, this time he just spoke from his heart as he looked into Amelia’s eyes.

“Amelia,” Landen began as his voice cracked with emotion, he quickly coughed to clear his throat. “Today is strangely the best and the worst day of my life in equal measures. I knew from the first time I saw you, that you would change my life forever. You are everything that I want for the rest of my life. I love you without doubt or reservation. But it wasn’t until I thought for the most awful moment today that I’d lost you, did I truly understand how deep my love for you is. I can’t imagine ever living in a world that you are not a part of, and I am both privileged and honoured to get to call you my wife, my best friend, and my love, for the rest of my days.”

Amelia leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips, then smiled up into his eyes, before they exchanged rings, and they both said I do.

“I now pronounce you, husband and wife,” Jeff announced, as their small gathering of family and friends clapped and cheered.

“I love you Landen Murphy,” Amelia whispered as she looked up into his eyes.

“I love you, too, Amelia Murphy,” Landen replied before he claimed her lips once more.
