“Hey.” The soft voice broke through his thoughts and he looked up to find Kyle awake. Javier was still curled around him and Saul wasn’t sure if he’d been seeking comfort or giving it. Either way he was passed out cold.

“Hey.” Saul crossed to the bed and looked Kyle over critically. “You’re looking pretty good for a guy who got hit over the head and kidnapped off the street, held at gunpoint by a drug dealer with a Napoleon complex, and wrapped up his day standing in the middle of a shoot-out with cops.”

“All in a day’s work, you know.” Kyle managed a teasing smile. Absently he stroked a hand down Javier’s back and cuddled him closer. “A shoot-out, really? Was that when I passed out the first time or the second?”

Saul snagged a chair close to the bed and took Kyle’s hand. “The second. It was right after you puked on the drug dealer.”

“The one with the Napoleon complex?” Kyle asked doubtfully.

“You were taller than him, Pup.” He couldn’t resist. Hell, he couldn’t resist anything about Kyle. Only his little puppy could have him cracking jokes after everything that happened.

“Oh!” Kyle snatched his hand away and smacked his arm teasingly. “That was mean.”

“Yep,” Saul agreed, grabbing that hand back. Gently he took one of Javier’s hands and brought them all together. “How is he?”

“Present, scared…he cried himself to sleep.” Kyle shook his head. “I tried…I’m not you.”

“He looks so peaceful, doesn’t he?” Carefully so as not to startle him, Saul leaned over and kissed Javier awake. Still clutching both their hands in his, he coaxed their lover awake, whispering soothing reassurances so he would know he was safe. “There you are.”

Dark eyes blinked at him in confusion as sleep receded. “Saul?”

“Where you expecting someone else to kiss you awake?” he teased.

“Well…” Javier batted his eyelashes. “I have this other lover, you know. He kisses me awake sometimes.”

“Oh yeah, is he hotter than me?”

“Let’s see...” Javier pretended to think about it. “He’s got these great blue eyes and hair so blond it’s almost white. Oh, and his body…I could go on and on. He’s really adorable. I think you might like him.”

Pretending to be disgruntled, Saul pointed out, “Hmm, I heard he has a hard head.”

Kyle laughed until he groaned. “Don’t do that, my hard head hurts.”

“Sorry, baby.” Javier leaned up and rubbed their noses together. “I love that.”

“I love you,” Kyle whispered, angling for a kiss.

Javier pulled back and looked between them seriously. “I love you both so much. It doesn’t excuse what I did and I’m so sorry you got hurt…”

“Shh.” Kyle reached up for another kiss. “No apologies, baby. I know why you did it, but you need to tell him.”

Javier looked over warily and confessed. “I ran away while the others were downstairs. Red was with me and I…I hit him over the head and ran. I thought Durango would take me and let you go. It was stupid, I see that now. He would have just killed us both. But, Saul, I had to do something so you would know, would believe.”

It was close to the scenario Saul imagined. Well, not the hitting Red part, but he couldn’t think of any other reason for them to be out on the street when he’d ordered everyone to stay inside. “Believe what, pequeño?”

“That I love you.” Javier scrambled off the bed and eased to his knees. When Javier took his hands and looked up at him with so much love, it almost erased the image that had haunted him for years. “This is me giving you my heart, my soul…everything. It’s been yours for so long, Saul. Why didn’t you believe it?”

“I was wrong,” Saul whispered. “I didn’t believe that I deserved you…either of you.”

“Who deserves it more? You saved me…”

Saul shook his head, refusing that accolade. “No. No, Javi, you saved me.”

“We saved each other,” Javier corrected, his smile full of understanding and all the love he’d been trying to give. All the love Saul had denied was real. “And Kyle saved us both.”

“Well,” Saul mused. “It’s that hard headed stubbornness.”

“Bastard.” Kyle laughed. “Someone kiss. Each other, me, I don’t care, but this moment calls for a kiss.”

Javier’s eyes twinkled in amusement. “Like an epic kiss?”

“Yeah, a really epic, messy…” Javier scrambled up and they both converged on Kyle before he could finish speaking. The teasing, messy kisses amid healing laughter eased into soft, gentle caresses until Javier was once again curled on the bed with Kyle.

Taking up their hands, Saul held them close and watched his pups doze. This was real, their future was real, and he would never again deny that the love they shared was real.
