  Love on the Rocks 3

  Kamikaze Nights

Louisa vows to never be a victim ever again. She’s so dead set on it that she doesn't trust men. She's been sexually harassed and seems to be wearing a sign that says “touch me, I’m easy.” Then she meets the Hunt brothers and finds out that real men know how to treat a lady. Her reservations are strong, and the men are losing their patience until she gets caught up in a burglary and becomes a suspect. They use their abilities and connections to prove she is innocent, but she’s still angry about being accused. When she figures out who the thief really is, all hell breaks loose and she needs those six men to protect her.

Her life is like her favorite drink, the kamikaze: crazy and wild. And, even though it seems like the future holds happiness with her new six boyfriends, she gets caught in the middle of her greatest nightmare and must fight with all she has while her men hunt down her captor. Louisa is a survivor and a fighter, but can she buy the time her men need to find her before it’s too late?

  DEDICATION

  Dear readers,

Thank you for purchasing this legal copy of Kamikaze Nights.

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but sometimes that is easier said than done. It’s difficult for Louisa to rely only on herself because of the fear of the past, and the actions of those who have done Louisa wrong. She’s somewhat empowered or at least hopes she is until the moment she is forced to face her demons, to take a chance and trust because her heart and her body tell her to, yet her mind, and the memories of the pain, fight her on letting go.

It will take some very special men to convince Louisa just how special she is to them. It isn’t going to be easy, not with her past breathing down her neck, and strangers looking to do her wrong.

May you enjoy her journey. Happy reading.

  Hugs!

  Dixie

  Prologue

“Son of a bitch!” Liam Russell yelled out and slammed his fist down on the table. “I can’t believe this. You’re telling me these three companies have so much pull, so many connections that I’m being squashed? The Mondave family have ties to so much shit, the greedy fucks. Merk Enterprises along with Ultimate Defense, run by the Hunt brothers, dominate the fucking market!”

“Liam, we saw this shit coming. It’s because they have ties with both legit and criminal businesses. They fucking know cops and shit,” his guard and assistant Keno said to him.

“I wanted that fucking set of paintings. How the fuck did they find out about the hit?” Liam asked.

“I don’t think they did. I think the security teams were that good. There was no way for our guys to get in there.”

“What other fucking bad news do you have for me?”

Liam could tell that Keno was hesitant to say. Liam gripped the desk and clenched his teeth. “Just spit it the fuck out.”

“The sexy brunette you’ve had your eyes on left Paulano’s place. Word is he tried to bend her over the desk.”

“What?” He felt his blood pressure boiling.

“I told that slimy bastard to keep his hands off of her,” Liam stated.

“Yeah well, I think you kind of pissed him off, not giving him the first job.”

“Keno, he’s set to do the next heist in Cuba. I gave him free reign on that because of his connections he claims to have. Damn it to all hell. Where did she go?”

“Not sure yet. Do you want me to put someone on her house and follow her?”

“No. Make Paulano find out and tell him I’m not happy. Also let the fucker know that if he screws up this heist and isn’t successful that he owes me a hundred and fifty grand, and if he doesn’t pay, he’s a dead man.”

  * * * *

Louisa Bellino felt her mouth drop as she spoke with her mom on the phone. She thoug
ht for sure she was calling for money. Last time she heard from her was about nine months to a year ago. Why she even answered the phone she didn’t know. Her mom wasn’t even the kind of woman to call a mom. Louisa practically hated her. Hell, she wouldn’t even want anyone to know she was related to her.

  “You’re seeing who?” she asked.

“Miles. Can you believe it? I bumped into him a couple of months ago.”

“A couple of months ago, and you’re just telling me now?” she asked over the cell phone. Her heart was racing, her palms sweaty. Miles was a complete scumbag. He was the reason she had trust issues, hadn’t slept with a man or even allowed a man close to her. He was a womanizer, a rapist, a man who set his eyes on her mom in order to get his hands on Louisa. She felt panicked, sick to her stomach. What the hell was he doing? Messing with her mom’s head, making her think he wanted her and would be a companion to her?

  “You’re upset.”

She never told her mother about him coming on to Louisa and how he cornered her in the bedroom, cupped her breast, forced his fingers under her skirt to her pussy and threatened to hurt her if she told a soul. He said she was a cock tease and that men were looking at her, wanting her, and he would be the only man to protect her. Louisa never really got over his advances or that sexual assault. Her mom had been pretending to be so distraught over her husband’s death even though they were divorced. She wanted the insurance money, or anything her father left behind.

Then within the year Miles was there, finagling his way into their lives and ultimately moving in right before Louisa left for college.

“He cheated on you. He’s no good, and all he wants is money.”

“No, he’s different. I made him cheat on me because I pushed him away. I was down on myself and had no self-confidence because he’s younger.”

“That’s not true. You were so hurt, Mom, when he cheated on you. He isn’t right for you. I can’t believe after all these years you would let him back in your heart.”

“Things happen, Louisa. You don’t understand. You’ve never been in love before. Any sex you’ve had has been meaningless.”

  Louisa’s mouth dropped.

“I’m sorry to say that, but it’s true,” her mom continued. “You haven’t mentioned any boyfriends, and never had had any. You couldn’t possibly still be a virgin. Not at twenty-four years old and certainly not when you work for such attractive, wealthy men. Oh God, are you a lesbian?”

Louisa didn’t know if she wanted to scream or cry. “No, I’m not a lesbian. My sex life is none of your business.”

It never had been and especially wouldn’t be now. Not with Miles dating her mom—hell, sleeping with her. No wonder the woman sounded happy. She had sex. So it was true that women were different afterward. Jesus, I need to just give it up and be done. But not with my boss either. He reminded her of Miles. Paulano was a manipulating jerk, but he paid well and she had worked for him for years. Sure, he came on to her a lot and it was getting worse and worse, but she could handle it. She promised herself she would never be a victim again. Then she started working for Paulano. She felt the chills and shivered at the memories of what recently happened. The self-defense moves came in handy.

She could even handle his associates and men like Liam Russell. Now that was a man to consider having sex with. He was older than her, good-looking but the non-commitment type. He also wasn’t exactly a legit business man.

At least her mom wasn’t putting her down, or calling her names. It was why she barely talked to her mom anymore. She was nasty, jealous of Louisa and all she achieved. She didn’t even know why she bothered talking to her. She should have known something was up when her mom called.

“I want you to come for dinner.”

“What?” she asked, shocked, because first of all she rarely talked to her mom and secondly, they were complete opposites and usually wound up in an argument. They would definitely wind up in an argument about Miles. My God, he was the man in her nightmares, the man who put a lock on her virginity. The man who assaulted her and threatened to go after her little thirteen-year-old cousin. She never wanted to look at his face again.

Louisa should have known when she called that her mom wanted something. Why else would she call? Money, therapy, to give her guilt for leaving the state and striking out on her own. Thank God Louisa got out of there or who knows what she would have turned into. White trash and then some.

“I’m sorry, I have interviews right now and loads of events booked for several weeks.”

“He wants to see you, too. He said he missed you and that sweet smile and your eyes. God gave you the eyes of a goddess and you don’t even use them to land a good man.”

The insult stung. She had plenty of opportunities to land sexy, rich men, but she wanted more. Her body meant more.

“I need to go. I have work, maybe you would like to try that sometime and actually make some money and know what it’s like to have responsibilities.”

“Don’t you take that tone with me, Louisa. I helped pay for that college degree you insisted upon.”

  “Dad paid for it.”

“I did. The money was mine.”

“The money was his insurance policy and he split it between us. The difference is you blew your share and I invested mine in my education and future. Take care of yourself.” She disconnected the call and threw the cell phone onto the seat in the car. The tears hit her eyes. All her life she had to struggle. Struggle to get out of the shit house her mother didn’t take care of or even care about. Hell, she didn’t care about Louisa and cheated on her dad left and right. Every time the man left for another tour her mom was spreading her legs. Maybe that was another reason why Louisa held out this long. She wanted sex to mean something. She wanted to be in love.

She put herself through college, desperate to get out of that shit trailer, and away from her mom and Miles. He was so damn creepy, and he had money, too. He was always investing in different schemes and even drugs. Her mom thought she hit the lotto with him but then his eyes were always on Louisa. On her body, her breasts. She damn well lived in a baggy hooded sweatshirt whenever he was around just so he wouldn’t look at her or find her attractive. But he did, and even opened the bathroom door just as she stepped from the shower. It was like he was casing out the territory he was interested in because a week later he cornered her in the bedroom when she was home alone.

She shivered just thinking about the man and what he said and did to her. It could have been worse. He could have raped her. Instead she held on to her virginity and focused on getting out. When her dad died she had been miserable, but when they found out about the insurance policy it was perfect timing. She just finished high school and was set to be in debt for college loans, had to work a job to pay for a few classes at a time, and then the money came. She paid for it, including room and board so she could be free from any dangers.

That was when she met her friends Venetia, Cherie, Gianna, Pina, and Rose.

Miles James was up to no good and she knew it. She heard a few years ago he was into some bad stuff and got locked up for two years. He was out, and probably told her mother he was a changed man. Well, thank God her mother was an hour away. It could have been worse, and when her mom needed to leave New York because she couldn’t afford it, she might have moved right into town. Hell, right into Louisa’s house. That wouldn’t have happened. She was nice and hated confrontations, but she had to draw the line somewhere. Her mother took and took until she couldn’t get anything else out of you and then she kicked people aside.

She would never have to see her and was fine with that. After the way she treated her father and the way she treated Louisa, she wanted to be done. The only reason she talked to her was because her grandmother, her dad’s mom, made her stay in contact. She didn’t need to do that anymore either. Grandma Laurel was dead and gone two years now.

She tried to clear her head of the anger and the disgust at this morning’s phone call.
It definitely wasn’t needed on a day like today. She felt a little nervous as she entered the exquisite, upscale hotel. She was more than qualified for the position she applied for as special events coordinator. She hadn’t even told her friends, especially not Venetia, that she was applying for the position and had been called in for an interview. The beachfront hotel and resort belonged to Corb Enterprises, Venetia’s boyfriends’ company. She didn’t want any preferential treatment or for Corbias brothers to hire her just because she was their girlfriend’s friend. She wanted to do this on her own.

She signed in at the front desk and then was directed toward a different set of elevators. “When you arrive on the tenth floor you’ll need to show ID and hand this to one of the security people there,” the attractive man at the front desk told her as he smiled at her, then passed her a pink visitor card.

“Thank you,” she said and then headed toward the elevator.

When the doors opened a man hurried out of the elevator so quickly he nearly plowed into her. He looked angry but important in his dark gray suit, blue shirt, gray tie, and a military haircut. His brown eyes locked on to her as he sidestepped to avoid knocking into her.

She swallowed hard as he looked her over and held the elevator open.

“Where are you headed? This is a corporate elevator,” he said in a tone that meant business. She felt intimidated. The guy was fierce and attractive.

“I have an appointment on the tenth floor,” she said, her voice sounding a little shaky to her own ears. As she avoided his intense gaze and the way he ate her up with his eyes, she caught sight of the gun on his side in a rib holster. She quickly slid into the elevator.
