Donovan's Woman Page 17

by Amanda Ashley

Gryff stood in the doorway of the Great Hall, his heart swelling with love as he watched Marri instruct their five-year-old son in the art of being a king.

If anyone had told him he would one day be living in Brynn Castle, married to the queen, he would never have believed it. His Marri, Queen of Brynn Tor. She had taken him into her heart, given him a home and a life he had never dreamed of.

Feeling his gaze, she looked up, one hand resting on her swollen belly, a smile lighting her face when she saw him.

Crossing the floor, he pulled her into his arms, felt the baby’s lusty kick. Their second child would be born before the end of the year. Marri had assured him this one would be a girl.

Gryff kissed her lightly, ruffled his son’s hair. “How’s the future king doing?”

Marri smiled at their son. “He’s going to be a great ruler.”

  “Just like his mother.”

She looked up at him, her gaze caressing his face. “No regrets, my lord husband?”

“No, love, not one. You’ve given me everything I ever wanted.” He laughed softly when he felt the baby kick again. “And so very much more.”

One night, when her husband was at work, and her kids were in bed, and there was nothing on TV, she sat down and started writing a book of her own. And she’s been writing ever since.
