Raf placed one finger on the stone and rolled it a bit. “He wasn’t interested in doing what was right for Alfheim, not really.” He lifted his finger and nodded toward Ky who sat surrounded by a diverse group of admirers—a group made of both royals and lords. “It would be good to know if we could trust her.”
Marina switched her gaze to Raf. “Would the stone tell us that?” She shook her head. “I don’t think so.” She brushed bits of grass off her hands onto her jeans, then scooted over the ground to lay her head on his chest. “Life can’t be planned, or avoided. It just has to be lived.”
Raf placed his finger under her chin and tilted her face toward his. “Well, then, I’m glad I get to live it with you.”
“Me, too,” she murmured.
As their lips met, Raf placed his hand on the stone and rolled it away. He didn’t need magic to tell him the future; he’d found his, here with Marina.
