Hollywood Strip Page 24

by Shamron Moore

Callie drowned Paul out and her thoughts drifted an ocean and thousands of miles away. Tyler had accomplished a longtime goal of doing makeup at a fashion show in Paris. His boyfriend, Timothy, was joining him and Callie had decided it was the perfect opportunity for her to go, as well. Last-minute trips were right up her alley. Let Hollywood—and the dizzying effort it took maintaining a career—wait; she was overdue for a bona fide vacay. A few days with her family in Michigan followed up with three weeks in the City of Light, a perfect span of time for de-L.A.-ing. Expanding her horizons was as much a necessity as drinking H2O; she needed to experience life beyond the bubble of Los Angeles and get back to basics—to sleep late and spend the afternoon reading a book at a sidewalk café. To admire a Monet or the Mona Lisa and feel the cobblestones scrape under her shoes’ soles while something fresh—anything but the stench of gasoline—filled the breeze. And, oh, yes—there was also the business of getting to know that intriguing, tight-assed smart aleck, Mitch. Who knew where that would lead? Perhaps nowhere. Or perhaps, just maybe …

The smog clung to the air like a wispy negligee. Callie looked at her front yard; the sun skimmed the Hollywood sign and poured through her open window. She tipped her face in the rays and felt nothing short of blessed.
