She looked over her wine glass at him. Truth be told, she kind of missed him as well and was touched he noticed her absence.
The rest of the night they talked, laughed and made love four times before falling asleep in what had to be the softest bed she had ever laid her head on.
Sometimes life didn’t suck.

Nick sat at the breakfast nook, staring at the television morosely. He wasn’t really watching it, his mind was on Jess. He couldn’t stand the thought of her alone with that dick. The thought of it physically making him sick.
He pondered how the fuck he was going to get rid of him without hurting Jess.
Or her finding out he was responsible.
“Nickolas, we need to talk about Nick Jr.” Connie came bouncing down the stairs holding a laundry basket. He ignored her, continuing to stare at the television.
“Nickolas. Did you hear me?”
“What is it Connie? What the hell did the boy do wrong this time?”
“I found condoms in his pants pocket. You need to talk to him.”
“I did talk with him. How do you think he got them?”
“What the fuck Nickolas? You gave him these….things?”
“He’s a boy. He’s got needs. Leave him alone, Connie.”
Connie leered at him with disgust on her eyes. “He’s thirteen, Nickolas. You wanna deal with the girl’s parents when they knock on the door telling us their slut daughter is pregnant, saying Nicky’s the father?”
Again, he ignored her and kept staring at the television.
She knew this was going to be a losing battle.
“Fine Nick. You win. But don’t blame me when it blows up in your face.”
“Connie…” His tone held warning.
“I’m done. Subject closed. Moving on. You know that trip we talked about taking? The one to Italy.”
“Yeah, what about it?”
“I’d like to take it now if that’s ok with you.”
“Why do you need to go to Italy, Connie?”
“I need away from all the shit, Nick. I need a break. I can ask Maria to go with me.”
He honestly couldn’t care the fuck less what she did. With her out of the country, he could sneak off to Miami with no bitching or moaning about his leaving.
Suddenly, the day was looking up.
“Sure. Why not. You do deserve some time away. I’ll have the travel agent book you and Maria’s tickets to leave tomorrow.”
She stared at him a few minutes, studying him. “I wonder why my husband is so accommodating.” She leaned forward, kissing his cheek.
“But I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Thank you, Nick.”
She headed off to pack, fantasizing about dark, Sicilian men.
As soon as she left the room, he picked up his cell calling Angel.
“What up, boss.”
“Angel. Pack your bags. We’re heading to Miami tomorrow.”
“Isn’t Jess there with her boyfriend?”
“Exactly. Be ready in the morning. I’m sending Connie to Italy.”
“You broke it off?”
“No. I’m not sure exactly how to handle all of that yet.”
“You can’t keep playing her, boss. Jess deserves better. If you love her, stop playing games.”
“Thanks, Oprah.”
“By the way, the new girl. The one you tested out in your office, a few months before Jess started?”
“Yeah. I remember. Lacey, right?”
“Right. I heard her say she missed her period.”
Fucking great. Another bitch playing the paternity game. The last fucking thing he needed.
“How you want it handled?”
“Get rid of her.”
“Done, boss.”
“See you tomorrow.”
“My excitement knows no bounds, boss.”
Nick hung up the phone.
“Buenvenidos a Miami.”
He chuckled.
Company’s coming, bitches.
About the Authors
Alisa Anderson
Well…Alisa did stuff and is still doing stuff. Only now she has two boys crazy enough to want her to be their mommy. Hey, at least she tried to warn them. So her job is done.
She lives for a world full of controllable anatomically correct, android men programmed to meet her specific feminine needs (wink, wink, nudge, nudge with a big waggle of the eyebrows.) Who look like the Rock and Ian Somerhalder, and Idris Elba. And, that’s it she promises. Variety. Gotta have it right?
Cameron Skye
When Cameron is not in the lab working toward a Ph.D., in Neuropsychopharmacology, which in laymen's terms is basically finding the effects drugs have on mood and behavior, she is writing stories, crating vivid, intense characters you will never forget.
She believes while life can take you down every path but the right one, eventually everyone will find their happily ever after.
