“Morning sunshine!” She looked great, probably because she’d spent the night drinking water, unlike me.
“Morning, have you seen Drew?”
“He left early to watch Lacey’s soccer game. Why? What’s up?”
I took a deep breath and told her everything. She already knew we’d slept together once or twice, but I filled her in on every last detail – how we’d been seeing each other for weeks, how I’d completely fallen head over heels in love with him, about Alice and what she’d just told me. All of it.
“Do you think it’s true?” I asked finally, eagerly awaiting her opinion on the matter.
“Duh,” she said, rolling her eyes. My jaw fell open again, and I felt like I was going to pass out with excitement. “Kelly, have you seen the way he looks at you? He’s crazy about you! We were all wondering when you would both wake up and realize you were in love with each other.”
We were interrupted by Eli, who wandered in looking though he’d just woken up. “Hello beautiful,” he said as he kissed Jaz, making her blush like he always did. He looked at me, took in my shocked expression, and looked back at Jaz. “What’s up with Kell?”
“That, honey, is the look of a girl who just found out the guy she’s in love with loves her back.”
“Ohhhh!” He chuckled. “Well, it’s about time!”
Finally, I broke out of my stupefied state and found my voice. “Where’s the soccer game?”
“He said it’s at Lacey’s school down the block,” Jaz said, and I was already running out the door before she had finished her sentence.
Now that I knew Drew loved me just as much as I loved him, I didn’t want to wait a single second longer to tell him how I felt.
Chapter Eleven
Drew
I sat there in the bleachers, watching Lacey run back and forth on the field, trying to distract myself from my misery.
Any hope I’d had that Kelly had feelings for me was smashed into a thousand pieces the moment Alice whispered in my ear: “I’ve heard you’re an animal in the bedroom. Why don’t we take this party upstairs?”
I’d asked her where she heard that from, and she looked over to Kelly. “Really?” I asked, and she replied with: “Yep. She told me I should try you out for myself.”
I looked at Kelly then, wondering if it was true. Seeing her smile and nod her head was all it took to break my heart.
I had been so numb with devastation that I hadn’t even realized I was being pulled up the stairs until it was too late. By the time I’d woken up from my haze, Alice was already undressing in front of me.
“I’m in love with Kelly,” I blurted out, turning away from her half-naked body. A minute later, she was dressed and I was telling her everything. Ten minutes later, she was gone and I was sitting alone in the dark, kicking myself for being such an idiot and letting myself fall in love.
That was when I decided I needed to end it, to stop seeing Kelly completely. Otherwise, every kiss, every touch, every time she looked at me and smiled, would be utter torture.
A shrill scream echoed from the field, snapping me back into reality.
“Oh my god!” a girl from the other team squealed. “That’s Kelly Winston!”
I stood to my feet, looking in the direction she was pointing at, but by the time I spotted her it was too late. Both teams were running towards her, screaming frantically. I watched as Kelly froze, her eyes wide in fear as the mob surrounded her.
I ran down the stairs, wondering why the hell she would come to Lacey’s soccer game. The players were teenage girls, the exact demographic of the Wild Diamonds – not exactly a place where she could just blend in. I saw Lacey pushing through the crowd, standing in front of Kelly protectively.
“She’s not here for us!” she yelled, holding the girls back. “She’s here for my brother.” I paused for a moment, and Lacey looked back at me and winked. She obviously knew more about me and Kelly than I thought.
Kelly looked just as surprised as I did as I dodged through the girls to reach her. “You know, too?” she asked, and Lacey just giggled before leading all the players back onto the field.
“Are you okay? What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I know you didn’t sleep with Alice. And I know why.”
My eyes dropped to the ground, and I began bracing myself, ready to hear her say it’s over. “I’m sorry, Kell,” I said, unable to look her in the eyes. “I understand if you don’t want to see me anymore.”
“What on earth are you talking about?” she asked, sounding genuinely surprised. “Why would I want to stop seeing you?”
“You said it yourself, we were just having fun, nothing more. I get it. You just want ‘bad boy Drew,’ remember? I know I’m not what you really want, I know I’m not good enough for you, it’s okay.”
Kelly gasped, and she held my face in her hands, forcing me to look at her. “Is that really what you think? That you’re not good enough for me? Yes. It started out as just fun, but... we both know it became something so much more than that.”
“I know, believe me, I know. I just didn’t think you felt what I did,” I explained, feeling good to finally get it all off of my chest. But then something occurred to me that didn’t make sense. “Why did you tell Alice to sleep with me if you felt it, too?”
She sighed and looked down at her shoes, she was still wearing the same outfit that she’d worn at the show the night before, and she looked amazing.
“I don’t know, I guess I...” she paused, as though trying to find the right words. “I guess I just thought it would be selfish of me to tell her not to, I thought you weren’t interested in anything more than sex.”
“Do you really think I’m like that? That I’d just use you for a good time and jump on any other girl who offers herself to me?”
“No!” she gasped, waving her hands defensively. “I know you’re not like that, but when we started all this, all I asked you for was sex. Until this morning, I didn’t know you wanted anything more, so when Alice told me she was going to... I just went along with it. And it tore me to shreds. I’m so happy you didn’t go through with it.”
“There was no way I could have gone through with it, not when I’m so crazy about you.” I panicked for a moment, knowing I’d just put my true feelings for her out in the open. A mix of relief and fear swirled in my stomach as I watched for her reaction. Her eyes lit up and a wide smile broke out on her face, and I couldn’t help but smile back.
“You’re crazy about me?” she asked.
“Completely. Ever since the moment I caught you staring at me in the Starlight Club.”
“Drew, that’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard. Don’t you dare, not even for a moment, think that you’re not good enough for me. I choose who’s good enough for me, and I choose you. I love you.”
I looked deep into her eyes, searching them to see if she was telling the truth. It didn’t take long for me to find what I was looking for, and a smile spread across my face. I picked her up in my arms and kissed her, only pulling away long enough to say, “I love you too, Kelly.”
Our kisses were interrupted by more squealing, followed by Lacey shouting out: “Get a room!”
“Good idea,” Kelly whispered, an evil grin on her angelic face. I placed her gently onto her feet and we began walking home hand in hand, and I couldn’t believe my luck.
Chapter Twelve
Kelly
Drew turned the handle on his front door and pushed it open, and I was surprised to see that the house was empty. A note sat on the dining table, I could tell from the handwriting that it was from Jaz: ‘Kicked everyone out. Thought you two should have some privacy now that you’re finally together. Jaz xo.’
“Remind me to thank her,” Drew said with a crooked smile before leading me up the stairs.
We reached his bedroom and he laid me gently down onto his bed, his dark chocolate eyes gazing deep into my soul. The way he looked at me, as though he’d been
waiting all his life for this moment, filled me with so much love I thought my heart would burst through my chest.
Slowly, he lowered his mouth to mine, our lips melding together as we kissed passionately, lovingly.
“Roll over,” he said, and I did as he asked, turning onto my stomach. He ran fingers down my back, unzipping the dress I still had on from the show the night before. Slowly, he slid it down the length of my body, followed by my panties and lastly, my bra, until I was lying naked in front of him.
He rolled me over again, and proceeded to feather kisses all over my body. My neck, my breasts, my stomach, my thighs, his soft lips brushing against my skin again and again, showing me just how much he loved me.
By the time he had treated every inch of my sensitive skin, I was so wet I could feel my juices pooling on the sheet in between my thighs. I spread my legs wide to show him just how much he affected me, and he bit his bottom lip as his eyes lingered on my pussy.
He began undressing, pulling his t-shirt over his head and unbuckling his belt, and I touched myself while I waited, circling my clit again and again. My masturbation hadn’t gone unnoticed, and I saw him watching me as he threw his clothes to the floor and pulled a condom out of the drawer of his bedside table.
“God, you’re beautiful,” he said as he climbed on top of me, holding his fingers over my own and sliding them into me, making me gasp. There was something so hot about having two sets of fingers inside me, and I began grinding my hips lower, allowing us to go deeper together.
“Make love to me,” I whispered, not taking my eyes off of his as I removed my fingers and began stroking his erection. He held my gaze as he slid his fingers out and replaced them with his cock, which slipped in so quickly due to my pussy being so slick with wetness.
He moved slowly, watching me as I moaned in pleasure. I began moving my hips, forging a delicious rhythm that felt so full of care and intimacy that I felt sparks flying between our bodies. This was my favorite place in the whole world. Here with him, connected as one, feeling so alive and so loved as he caressed me, kissed me, made love to me.
I lifted my arms around his neck, pulling him in closer and kissing him, the dance of our tongues heightening the pleasure. His chest rubbed against my own, brushing against my nipples with each thrust, making me moan into his mouth.
He picked up speed, slamming into me harder, faster and deeper again and again, until my body began to quiver.
“I want to watch you come,” he whispered onto my lips before lifting himself higher, giving him the perfect view of my face. I closed my eyes, concentrating on the sensations of my body, the swelling between my thighs, feeling him enter me repeatedly. I licked my lips, embracing it all, ready to feel the pressure build before that glorious moment of release.
“Mmmmm,” I moaned, a smile tugging at my lips, knowing he was watching me. I felt it building, building, and suddenly I was there, right on the tip of it, and I let go. Waves of bliss crashed over me, my face flushed with heat and my heart pounded so fast I could hardly hear my own screams of ecstasy.
Drew moved faster again, groaning as he watched me come for him, before following me over the edge.
Moments later, he was kissing me again, and I could feel his smile against my lips. “You looked so gorgeous when you came.”
I smiled as he rolled off of me, pulling me into his arms. I rested my head on his chest, smiling to myself as I listened to his heart beat. Even though we’d had sex countless times, that was the first time we had ever made love.
That was the first time we had let our true feelings lay with us in between the sheets, move with us as we exploded together, and ooze out of our eyes when we gazed at each other.
It felt so good to not have to hide it anymore, like being in love was something to be ashamed of, to feel guilty about. I sighed in relief, knowing I wouldn’t have to bite my tongue anymore or be afraid of accidentally telling him I loved him. I could tell him whenever I wanted to, and I would be lucky enough to hear him say it back every time I did.
I couldn’t believe how perfectly everything had worked out. Who would have thought that the man I gave my virginity to, the man I only wanted for one night of wild, crazy, intense sex, would turn out to be the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
Lying there in his arms, I felt like the luckiest girl in the whole world. I had the career of my dreams, our latest album had been named Album of the Year, I’d just released a hit new single in a completely different genre, I had wonderful friends, and Drew was my delicious cherry on top of it all.
“I love you so much, Kell,” he said, his fingers gently stroking my shoulder. “I’m going to treat you like a princess for the rest of your life.”
My heart swelled with more love than I thought possible, and tears filled my eyes as I realized that I’d found my Prince Charming after all.

Ella White had no idea that one phone call could change her life.
She and her band, The Wild Diamonds, were doing a radio interview when a firefighter named Dean called in and asked her to be his date to a charity ball.
What started as a date for a good cause quickly turns into a whirlwind romance, but can Dean handle life in the spotlight?
LOVE ON RADIO EXCERPT
“You’re listening to Hot Hits on FameFM, and that was the latest hit single from the Wild Diamonds! Today we’re sitting down with the band, chatting about their latest album – recently named Album of the Year – and we’re taking calls! So if you have a burning question you’ve been dying to ask Jaz, Kelly, Ella or Jesse, now’s the time! And now we have Dean on the line with a question for Ella. Go ahead Dean, you’re live on the air.”
“Hi Dean,” I said, holding the headphones close over my ears so I could hear him properly.
“Hi Ella, I’m a huge fan of your music. Thanks so much for taking my call.”
“My pleasure, what’s your question?”
“Well, I’m a firefighter, and there’s a big FDNY charity ball this Saturday
night and my date just bailed. I know it’s a long shot, but I’m calling to ask if you would be my date?”
I sat in silence, knowing there shouldn’t be any dead air on radio, but I was speechless. The DJ jumped in while I pondered the question. “Wow! A date with a firefighter, you know that’s gonna be a HOT night!”
Jaz elbowed me in the ribs, smiling and mouthing the words “Say yes!”
I looked over at Kelly who was smiling and nodding, and Jesse, who was giving me the thumbs up. With their encouragement, and the motivation that it was for a good cause, I nervously leaned into the microphone to give him my answer.
“Yes, Dean. I’d love to be your date. Thank you so much for asking me.”
‘“Really?” he asked, sounding genuinely shocked. “Woah! Thank you, Ella!”
Everyone in the room started cheering and wolf whistling, and I felt my cheeks warm into a blush.
“There you have it listeners, you may have just witnessed the last of the single Wild Diamonds girls being taken off the market! First Jaz hooked up with megastar Eli Hudson, then Kelly went to the dark side with Drew from Angels of the Underworld, and now Ella is about to get steamy with a firefighter! Dean, every man in New York is going to be wishing he was you tomorrow night, that’s for sure.”
My palms were sweating from nerves as the DJ introduced the next song and motioned for us to remove our headphones. The producer spoke to Dean off-air to note down the details of the charity ball and thanked him for creating such great radio, then promptly hung up before I got a chance to talk to him again.
“That was so cool, Ella!” Jaz said as she put her arm around my shoulder. “Looks like us girls are going shopping this afternoon. Cinderella needs a dress for the ball!”
