“How did the shower go?” Clay asked.

  “Great.”

“Does it make you want to have ten kids?”

“Ten? I don’t think I’m ready for that many.”

Clay patted the seat next to him and nodded to the glass of wine on the coffee table. The fire was blazing, and the coziness wasn’t lost on her. She dragged off her coat and dropped next to him on the sofa.

  “We’ve been thinking,” Clay began.

  “That’s a good thing.”

“Not that we fear you’ll run off or something, but we’d like to make our arrangement more permanent.”

Her thoughts scattered. Was he proposing marriage? “Me, too.”

Grins broke out on both of their faces. Clay nodded to Matt who jumped up and dashed down the hallway. His actions confused her even more. Clay said nothing. Matt returned with something held behind his back.

Clay moved next to Matt, and both men got down on one knee. Tears welled in her eyes at the image before her.

Matt picked up her left hand and slipped a box to Clay. Clay opened the small blue container and pulled out a gorgeous diamond ring. She had to blink to keep from being blinded. “Oh, my.”

“This was our mother’s ring,” Clay said. “Would you marry us?”

Her throat clogged. This was a dream come true. “Yes!”

The men beamed. Both stood. “I say that calls for a celebration.” Matt pulled her to her feet.

She slipped the ring on her left hand and wiggled her fingers. “I love it.”

Matt winked. “Maybe you can show us how much.”

She laughed. “I can see you two are going to keep me so busy I won’t have time for a job.”

“That’s our plan, sugar.” He held up a finger. “But when you’re ready to start your own firm or branch out on your own, you let us know and we’ll support you 100 percent.”

She grinned and wrapped an arm around each man. “Tell you what. Until that time, I say you should keep doing what you’re doing and keep me busy in bed.”

“Our pleasure.” Clay picked her up, and she knew the next few hours would be the best of her life.

  ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Unlike most other authors, I started writing late in life. Writing stories in high school and college was not for me. Only after I graduated did I fall in love with romance novels. For the next twenty years, I read voraciously. It got to a point where my book-buying habits cost as much as my groceries. At that point, my husband suggested I write a book. Hey, it looked easy, right? All the stories started in the same spot (hero and heroine at odds) and ended the same way (happily ever after). Only it was anything but easy. Eleven years and fifteen completed romantic suspenses later, I finally published. I never would have gotten that far had it not been for two local Chapters whose generous members shared their amazing wealth of knowledge.
