Appetite of a Vampire [Vampire Love and Lust 2] (Siren Publishing Ménage Amour) Page 3

by Dani April

This was what she needed. This was why she had gone to the concert that night. She had needed a man. Now she had one pounding her between her thighs and loved every second of it. Yet her hunger was still there just as deep as before, and with the added effort of her sexual release, even more desperate to be fulfilled.

From the first second she had hopped on board his Harley that night, she had known the evening was leading up to this moment. Her eyes were growing wide in their sockets. Her mouth had fallen open. Her throat was sore from her desperate screams. She had him locked in a grip between her outstretched legs and would not let him go.

A sudden burst of strength overpowered her. She flipped him over onto his back in one fluid motion. Now she was riding him from above, her pussy milking his seed on top of his cock. As he slammed up between her legs, she ground down against him with her pelvic muscle.

Both of them were groaning from the pleasure. But something more was building in her. This wasn’t just going to be another sexual climax.

She had never fed this way before. Never drank the blood of a live human being before. Prior to this, she had survived by stealing the stored blood at the hospital. It was not tasteful, but she needed it in order to live. It wasn’t until just recently that she had decided she needed something more. And it was not until tonight when she met Derrick that she knew what that something more was…a live, human man to feed on.

She threw her head back as she rode him to his climax. She opened her mouth wide, and her incisors grew by several inches. When she looked back down at the naked man between her legs she felt her eyes light up and she could see in the dark.

She lowered herself to him, and the blue vein in his neck beckoned her like a light on a dark, stormy sea.

“Oh Jesus Christ!” He screamed when he saw her. In that one second, their act went from one of love to being one of frantic survival. He began to struggle beneath her. She held him pinned down by her knees, and her hunger gave her a strength that belied her small size. Then, in a final fight to stay alive, he pushed her off of him and to the side of the bed. He rolled off and onto the floor in the same motion, falling with a thud.

She lay panting on her back for a moment, completely exhausted. Her teeth and eyes returned to normal, and she started to realize what she had attempted to do with this man whom she had only met that night.

On the floor, he was crawling away from the bed and over to where his discarded clothes lay in a heap. As she looked down at him, his naked form still looked lovely to her, and she felt an overwhelming regret at what she had just tried to do.

“What are you?” He gagged on his emotion through rasping breaths.

She could only shake her head. She had no answers for him because she didn’t even know herself what she was.

“You tried to kill me,” he accused her.

“No I didn’t!” Tears were streaming down her cheeks.

“Stay the hell away from me, you monster!” he shouted at her.

  “I’m sorry, Derrick. I can’t help it. I don’t know what I am.”

“I’m going to get the hell out of here, and I’m never coming back.”

He picked up his clothes and ran from the bedroom.

Marty curled up into a ball on top of the bed and began to cry. She was all alone again. She stayed in a fetal position for several hours and gave vent to her heart-pounding sobs. Then she realized she had to get up and leave. The sun would be rising soon. She would have to hide from it and wait for the next night to feed her hunger.

  Chapter Five

Derrick shot through the night on his bike, driving well past the speed limit and chancing a stop by the police since it was still the wee hours of the night. The wind whipped his hair back as he rode, and his shirt that was still halfway undone flew out wildly behind him. His nerves were shot to hell, he was sweating, and his hands trembled on the handlebar.

When he got back to his motel, he was still shaking. He bypassed his own room and knocked on Aaron’s door. It was four in the morning, and there wasn’t a sound out in the courtyard of the motel. A moment passed before Aaron got to the door. He must have been asleep. When he finally opened up, a look of alarm came to his face as he regarded his friend standing before him out in the night.

“What the fuck, man? You look terrible. What happened to you?”

Derrick stepped past him and entered the room, not waiting for an invitation. “Can you get me a drink, man?”

“Sure. You look like you need one.”

Derrick fell into a chair in the corner of the room as Aaron poured him a whiskey from the bar counter. He found nothing to say at first and wondered if all that had just happened to him had just been some weird nightmare. Taking the shot glass from Aaron, he downed it all in a single gulp.

“I thought you had hooked up with that babe tonight?” Aaron asked him.

“I did,” Derrick told him and felt his breath steadying under the influence of the alcohol.

“So what are you doing back here? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

  “I think I’ve seen something that’s worse.”

“What are you talking about? Did that girl turn out to be a hooker or something?”

“No, nothing like that, man.” Derrick ran his hands through his hair. “She lived in an old house and took me back there. She was a…” He didn’t know how to finish.

  “Was a what?”

  “She’s a vampire, Aaron.”

“A what?” Aaron started to laugh but then went quiet, as he could tell that Derrick was deadly serious. “You’ve got to be out of your mind, man.”

“I know it sounds crazy, but it’s the truth.” He got up from the chair and paced around the motel room. “I really liked her. She seemed different than other women, like she was special somehow. She started telling me how she had amnesia and why she lived in such a run-down, old place. My heart went out to her. All I wanted to do was help her and take care of her. I thought about giving up the road trip for her. Then we went to her bedroom and started to have sex.”

“I got to tell you, man, so far it sounds like one hell of a good first night together.”

“No, listen to me,” he silenced Aaron. “We were in bed together, and then all of a sudden she started to change. She became strong, her teeth grew, and her eyes turned red like those of an animal at night. She tried to bite my neck. At the last minute she stopped, and I pushed away from her. But if she hadn’t stopped when she did, I would have been a dead man.”

“You’re not making this up are you, old friend?” Aaron asked him.

“I know it sounds insane, but believe me, it happened exactly the way I just told you.” He pulled back the curtain and stared out at the parking lot of the motel outside the room. “My life flashed before my eyes. I think I came like about two seconds away from dying tonight.”

“Do you want to call the cops?”

“Hell no, man!” Derrick raised his voice and then realized with the lateness of the hour his words were carrying too far. “Do you think I want to tell the cops and then have them lock me up for being a lunatic?”

“You’re probably right about that. I’m your best friend and I only half believe you.”

“Exactly, there’s no one who is going to believe me. The more time that passes, I hardly believe it happened myself.”

“What are you going to do? You think she’ll track you down out here and come looking for you?”

Derrick shook his head and realized how tired he felt. “Of course she isn’t going to come looking for me. The craziest part about it all is that I think she was more scared than I was when it was all over. I’ll probably never see that girl again.”

“Considering she tried to kill you, that’s probably a good thing.”

Again, Derrick shook his head. His emotions were undergoing a change. He had started off scared and then been angry that someone had tried to kill him. Now he was having new feelings, and they were the most uncomfortable o
f all. He was feeling like a poor excuse for a man. The girl had needed his help, and he had run out on her, leaving her all alone. Men didn’t behave like that.

“Goddamn it,” he swore under his breath. “I fucked it up big time tonight, man.”

“Sit back down and let me pour you another drink,” Aaron told him.

“I don’t want another drink.” Suddenly Derrick felt angry again. This time he was angry with himself. “I’m the biggest fool in the world.”

Aaron laughed and tried to make a joke. “Hey, man, I’ve known that for a long time. You still should try and get it together. You’re freaking out here.”

“I told that poor girl I was going to try and help her, but I called her a monster and ran out of her place after I fucked her. I’ve never treated a woman like that before in my life, and I’m not proud of my reaction.”

“What else could you do? From what you said, she took you by surprise. She was trying to kill you.”

“No, I don’t think she wanted to kill me. I just don’t think she could help herself. She is sick, and she needs help.”

“Maybe, but I don’t think you can help her, man.” Aaron went over to pour himself a drink now, and a smile came to his face. “Although, the idea of that sexy little babe being a vampire is kind of a turn-on. I wouldn’t mind a piece of that action myself.”

“Hey, man, I blew it, and I’m sorry,” Derrick told his friend.

“Not necessarily,” Aaron told him. “If she is a vampire like you say, she probably doesn’t get too many chances to date.”

  “Probably not. So what?”

“Well, you said she took you back to her place, right?”

“Yes, it is some dilapidated house in an old suburban area.”

“If you had to, could you find it again on your bike?”

“Probably, but why? After the way I treated her tonight, she won’t ever want to see me again.”

Aaron gave him a cocky smile and pointed to himself. “Leave it all to the love doctor, my man. I’m intrigued by this little vampire of yours and would like for both of us to get to know her better.”

“Come on, man,” Derrick protested. “I’m already angry with myself and hate the cowardly way I handled the situation. I’m sure she must hate me, too, after what I did. If I ever went back there, she would probably try and kill me for real this time.”

Aaron sipped his drink and stared at his friend. “Did you really think you could have cared for her other than just the cute booty?”

“I think so. There was something about her. She is one of a kind.”

“We’ve shared women before,” Aaron reminded him. “And what a turn-on it would be to share a female vampire. We came out on the road to tour the country and try and find something special. Well, wake up and smell the roses, man. It won’t get any more special than finding a beautiful, female vampire that needs our love and protection.”

“You really think she’s worth delaying our road trip for?”

“If she’s as special as you say she is, she might be worth ending the goddamn road trip for.”

Derrick sat back down. He knew he was dejected after all that had just happened to him that night. “I would like to do something for her to let her know she’s not alone. She was scared tonight, and she was sad. She seemed like the most alone person I had ever met in my life.”

“You and I could end that for her.”

“We could also get ourselves in a lot of trouble since we don’t have a clue about what we’re dealing with here.”

“The question is, man, is this babe worth getting in trouble for?”

Derrick smiled and felt better all of a sudden. His friend had helped him to make up his mind. “You bet she’s worth the trouble,” he told him.

  * * * *

When Marty opened her eyes, she realized the sun had gone down once more, and it was safe to get up. She had been asleep all day in the crawl space beneath the floor of her house. She was groggy with sleep when she woke up, and the night before seemed like just another chapter in the long nightmare she had been living through. At least for a little while last night, she’d had that wonderful connection with Derrick, that was, before he ended up hating her for what she had become.

She pushed up on the boards above her face. She was immersed in total blackness but could see in the dark better than a cat with her vision. Finding the right board in the floor above her, she peeled it back and off of her.

She climbed out of her hiding space and slowly rubbed some life back into her tired body, massaging her hands across her arms. The first thing she always did was to check her watch and make sure it was after sundown, and then pull back the curtain, and look out the bay window that faced the west side of her house. Only a faint but harmless glow of light was left in the sky. Overhead, the first stars of the newly born night were starting to shine.

She had awakened right on time. Last night had been her night off from her job, but tonight she would have to go back to work.

She just had time for a quick shower. The water was cold against her naked skin. There was no functioning water heater in the house to warm it. When she got out, she looked at herself in the mirror for a long time and wondered if she didn’t really hate herself for what she had become just the same as Derrick had last night. She told herself she had to be strong. She would solve the mystery of why she had become what she had become. She would find the one man who could supply her with all the answers, and everything in her world would be set right again. She hoped that when she finally found the man, she would love him, and he would return her love and not shun her like the rest of the world did.

Dressing in a hurry, she grabbed her purse off the counter and ran outside into the night.

It was another beautiful evening out. Back when she’d had a normal life, she would have relished an evening like this one. Perhaps she would have gone out for a walk with her dad. Now all she could do was keep her head down and try not to allow herself to dwell on the present as she hustled down the street to the bus stop.

The bus ride to work didn’t take long, and, fortunately, she didn’t have to speak to anyone during the trip. The bus route ran right in front of the hospital she worked at. She had to hurry to clock in on time. Now that the sun was staying up later, as summer approached, she would be more pressed to get to her job on time.

University Hospital was just a small community medical center in one of the endless city suburbs, but to Marty it had provided her with a lifeline for the last several years since she had gotten her job there. First off, it gave some sanity to her otherwise insane lifestyle. The people she worked with and her patients were all normal, something she clearly was not. Secondly, and more importantly, it gave her a chance to get the only food that sustained her life.

“Good evening, Marty,” one of the other nurses who worked the night shift on her floor greeted her as she hustled over to her station and turned on her computer. “I thought you weren’t going to make it in tonight.”

“Good evening, Helen.” Marty gave her a smile. “You know I can’t afford to miss any more work. Besides, you guys would be short staffed without me.”

“Cheer up,” Helen told her. “Today is payday.”

“That’s nice,” Marty commented as she started opening some of her patients’ files on her computer screen. She attempted to concentrate on her work and not on the thoughts coming out of the charge nurses’ head. In the past few months, Marty had been becoming increasingly better at reading minds, and the talent was proving to be very distracting.

“I wonder how Marty does it. I have known her over five years now. It doesn’t seem like she’s aged a day in that time. She’s got to be close to thirty by now, but she doesn’t look it. Perhaps she works out at the gym. Could it be her diet or maybe her makeup? I really wish I could get up the courage to ask her. But I just don’t want to give her that satisfaction.”

Yes, Marty could read Helen’s mind loud and clear without e
ven glancing up at her.

“You know who the on-call doctor is tonight?” Helen asked aloud.

  “Is it Doctor Bradon?”

“You got it.” Helen winked at her. The handsome, young intern was the floor’s most eligible bachelor. Marty thought it was foolish the way the other nurses always gossiped about him and speculated on his personal life. Although, at one time in her life, before the nightmare had started, she supposed she would have joined in with them readily enough.

“I’m going to start my rounds,” Marty told Helen, taking up her handheld computer with all her patients’ data on it and starting off down the corridor. “See you in a bit.”

  “Later,” Helen called after her.

The blood-donor lab was locked at that hour, but Marty had the key to it and let herself inside. She had no need of the overhead lights since she could see in the dark, and left them off to afford herself more privacy. The blood that came out of these hospital vials and plastic medical bags tasted awful, but it did sustain her life, and Marty knew it had been so long since she had fed that if she didn’t get some soon she would be in trouble. Already she was starting to feel the effects of weakness stemming from the lack of nourishment in her system.

The technicians who worked in this lab during the day seemed to move the blood supply from week to week, but so far Marty had always been lucky in discovering its whereabouts. The keys she had opened all the refrigerator doors in the lab. Tonight she searched through all of them to no avail. All she found were useless medical supplies.

She felt dizzy and like she was going to pass out and had no idea how she would make it through her entire eight-hour shift until four in the morning. She sat down on the cold tile floor of the lab and thought about giving up. Maybe she was better off to just let herself die. The world would be rid of a monster.
