Soon the service was over and everyone left to go back to their cozy homes. Josh drove the Lipscombs’ home and he and Felicity lingered a moment on her front porch.
“Tomorrow will be our first Christmas together. I’m looking forward to it.”
She smiled at him and nodded. “Me, too.”
“Not too long ago I thought we probably didn’t have a future. You’ve made it possible. I can’t thank you enough for believing in me.”
“I believe in you with all my heart, Josh. I also believe in us. You know I’ve loved you most of my life, don’t you?”
He smiled. “I promise I won’t disappoint you.”
“I know. And I’ll do my best to not disappoint you, either.”
“The Christmas festival was fun this year. I’m looking forward to telling our children about the scandal one day. I wonder what’ll happen next year? It seems like there’s always something that happens.” He chuckled with obvious delight.
“Let’s just worry about the wedding first, cowboy.” She giggled as she stood up on her tiptoes to give him a quick kiss. “Merry Christmas, Josh.”
“Merry Christmas, my love.”
My Wish for You
Christmas time in our family is a wondrous time of year. We celebrate the season in a spiritual and a secular way. We appreciate each other more and have abundant fun. Our celebrations include extended family and friends – old and new.
I’m always tired by the time we turn the tree lights on out Christmas Eve, but it’s always worth it. I’ve baked, I’ve cooked, I’ve wrapped presents, I’ve sent and received cards. I’ve reread the story of Jesus’ birth. All these things have meaning to me.
As you celebrate the season in the way that’s completely you, I hope you find peace, joy, and love. May you never run out of books to read and I hope Santa is good to you! Most of all, I hope you find the true meaning of Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you, from me.
