Ryan's Love Page 9

by Charlie Dillard

  I wanted to say thank you, but I couldn’t. I didn’t know if I could trust myself to not let my emotions show right now, if I said anything to her.

  She gave me a quick smile, and a nod over to Sunshine’s way. My eyes land on her and she is sitting there still smiling to herself. Lord help me, if she wasn’t the most beautiful woman, inside and out. I need to do this now.

  So I walk over to her and take her hand in mine. She glances up at me with a surprised look on her face. She is about to say something, but I cut here off.

  “Come sit with me over here on the couch. I want to talk to you about something.”

  She looked over at my mom and James, then back at me. My mom had a knowing look on her face, and James’ face was expressionless.

  “What is this about,” she questioned as she stood up from the stool and cautiously walked with me over to the couch.

  I didn’t answer her right away as I helped her sit down, making sure she was comfortable and facing me. Her hand still in mine I began to let her know exactly why I wanted to talk to her.

  “Baby, since that day I saw you in the airport, you have been a bright star in my life. Every moment I’ve spent with you has been a blessing for me. You see I can’t live without you.”

  “But Ryan..,” she says, but I stop her before she starts.

  “I know I’ve put you through hell, with the lazy way I’ve treated our relationship and more importantly your feelings.”

  She flinched at that statement, like she was remembering something. I hated that I caused that look on her face. But I didn’t let that deter my mission.

  “Here today, I give you my word that if you let me, I want to spend the rest of our lives showing you how much I love you; how much you mean to me, how much I need your love, and how you have made me a better man and son,” I proclaim, then slid the ring on her finger.

  She looked down and the ring for a long time. At first she was absolutely still, then I could see a slow shutter travel up her body. Next I felt little drops of wetness falling on our hands.

  Shaking her head no, she looked up at me in the eye.

  “Don’t say things you don’t mean. I don’t think I could take anymore heartbreak from you Ryan,” she cried.

  Her words crushed my soul. Oh how I’ve hurt this special woman in front of me. I vow to spend my life making it up to her.

  I’m now on my knees on the floor in front of her.

  “Ryan, my Sunshine, I know that I’ve haven’t been a beacon of stability for you. But know that you are my life and I love you more than I will ever be able to tell or show you. I will spend my life trying. Marry Me. Be my Wife. Be my Love. Be my One and Only,” I say to her, while holding and stroking her hand.

  When she didn’t immediately answer I said, “Please, I love you.”

  She stifled a cry and threw her arms my neck and cried and nodded into my shoulder.

  “Yes, Ryan I’ll marry you.”

  “Oh Honey. I love you, I love you, I love you,” I cry joyously as I kiss her sweet face, then lips.

  I only meant to kiss her lips quickly. But as soon as her lips touched mine I couldn’t help but moan and kiss her deeper; leaning her back into the couch, letting my hands roam down her legs to her honey pot.

  She moaned.

  “Ryan, please. Your mom and my brother are watching us,” she breathed in my ear.

  All the while she was grinding slowly into my hand as I gently rubbed her slick folds.

  Someone cleared their throat from the kitchen causing the both of us to look up at them.

  “Ryan, are you going to let her breathe so we can plan a wedding,” my mom said in a giddy voice.

  Sunshine giggles underneath me as I sigh deeply and slowly remove myself from her. My mom was immediately over to our sides, gathering Sunshine up off the couch and into her arms.

  “Oh Honey, I’m so happy for you. Now I can finally plan I wedding for my daughter.”

  Sunshine quietly sobbed at what my mom said. They both stood there quietly crying and holding each other.

  “So when is the big day,” James said as he walked over to Sunshine to take his turn hugging her?

  She looked over at me questioningly. Then to her brother.

  “I don’t know,” she answered as she hugged him.

  “I was thinking a week from today,” I say.

  Everyone looked at me and said, “One week.”

  “Isn’t that kind of fast,” Sunshine asked?

  “No,” I say smiling.

  “A week really. But why,” she asks?

  I peek up at my mom and she now has tears streaming down her face. I think she has figured out why I want it to be a week from today.

  “Its the day my mom and dad got married. I thought it would be a perfect day. Plus, I’m dying to be your husband,” I say grinning.

  Her breath catches in her throat and she throws her arms around my waist; hugging me tightly, crying into my chest.

  “Ryan, that is beautiful. I think I am the luckiest woman in the world to have you,” she says.

  “I think you are too,” I say jokingly.

  She pulls me down to her and whispers in my ear, “If I didn’t think you were joking I’d spank you for that.”

  Then she lightly bites my earlobe and steps back away from me. Grinning at the look on my face.

  “You’re so gonna get it,” I say to her.

  “What? I didn’t do anything,” she said sweetly, batting her eyelashes and smiling.

  “Just wait. You’ll see,” I say plotting my own revenge I’m going to take on her sweet warm body.

  Then I turn to mom and say, “So what are we going to do about next week.”

  That was all I had to say and she was off like a rocket. Talking about what and how we had to do to get everything ready. I simply smiled and let her take over. I know she will be happy doing so.

  Chapter 11 (Sunshine)

  I am so tired. After that night were Ryan asked my to marry him, It seems like I’ve been running non-stop. The day after he asked me to marry him Mrs. Callahan took me to a bridal shop to pick out a dress. I never tried on a wedding dress so I didn’t exactly know what was all involved in the whole process. When I first walked into the shop I saw a dress that I wanted but Mrs. Callahan wouldn’t hear of it. She said a lady had to try on more than one dress. I laughed and gave in; but I knew that I wanted the one certain dress. After trying on about four other dresses, she finally gave in and brought the dress I wanted back to the dressing room.

  “Come on out here and let me see what you look like,” she said to me thru the dressing room door.

  I smoothed my hands down the sides of the dress and carefully stepped out of the dressing room. I kept my eyes down as I stepped in front of the floor length mirror. When she didn’t comment on the dress, I couldn’t help but look up at her. When I did she was standing there trembling. Her hands were covering her mouth and she had tears streaming down her face.

  “Oh Mrs. Callahan, what’s wrong. Don’t you like the dress?”

  She nodded her head yes and walked over to me, throwing her arms around me and hugging me tight.

  “Sunshine you look absolutely magnificent. I’m only crying because you are a dream come true,” she cried.

  I raised my eyebrows in question.

  “You see, when I first met you I loved you. I felt like you were the daughter I never had. Now you and my baby are getting married; and he’s staying home. I’m so happy right now. Crying was the only way that I could express that. Thank you for loving my son like you do. He is a lucky man to have found you. Heck, I’m a lucky woman to have a daughter like you,” she said.

  That caused me you cry and hold onto her for dear life.

  “Thank you. I feel like I’m in a dream right now. I’ve never thought that I would ever feel so loved,” I stammer.

  We stood there like that for a long time. We were only brought out of our special embrace when a lady from the store cam
e back and asked us what did we think about the dress. Mrs. Callahan stepped back and looked the gown over.

  “I think you were right. This is the perfect dress for you,” she said as she walked around me.

  “Perfect,” the lady said, “I’ll get that all wrapped up for you as soon as you are done,” she also said as she turned and left us alone.

  “Now all we need is..,” Mrs. Callahan said. Then she started rattling off all the other things we needed to do.

  We had to get food squared away. As well as extra tables and chairs. We need decorations. When the topic of who was coming came up she turned and looked at me.

  “Who would you like to invite?”

  “Oh I don’t know. As long as Ryan is there, I really don’t care about who else comes,” I say blushing.

  She smiles and says, “Oh nonsense. There has to be someone you want to invite.”

  I shrugged and said, “You guys are going to be there. James is going to be there. As well as a few people from work. There is only one other person that I’d love to be there, and I don’t know if they’d come.”

  “Who Honey. I’m sure that I can get ahold of them for you. I’m a master investigator,” she said.

  “I had a best friend in college. We were roommates all through-out college. We did everything together. When college was done she moved back home, and so did I. We kept in touch a lot in the beginning. But as the years passed life got in the way, the only contact we have now is thru Facebook and email here and there.”

  “Why don’t you let me look her up and get a hold of her for you?”

  “I don’t think she’d come. She is so very busy with work and everything,” I say.

  “You let me worry about all of that,” she replied.

  Then I proceeded to give her all of the information that I had on my friend. She then helped me out of my dress and we took it up front. Where the sales lady wrapped it up and we were on our way.

  After that day thing were like a tornado with all we got done. Throughout it all I still went to work. Ryan wasn’t too happy about that either. He told me that I shouldn’t be on my feet at all. But when I pointed out to him that I would be sitting down at my desk all day, he gave up his fight. But not before giving me a few more love jabs.

  Soon enough it was Saturday morning and Mrs. Callahan and I were on our way out the door to go to a full day at the spa. It was my little bachelorette celebration. Walking thru the house and to the front door, we both were halted in our tracks by laughing.

  Ryan, Killian, Patrick, and James were all sitting in the living room laughing and drinking beers. When they saw us Ryan quickly got up and made his way over to us.

  Hugging me he asked, “Now were are the two of you off to.”

  “None of your business,” his mom said grinning, then hugging him.

  “Why mother I have to know where you are taking my lovely soon to be wife. Then I will know were I have to come to kill whoever even looks her way,” Ryan laughed as he hugged her back.

  “Oh no you don’t. You and the guys are going to have your fun. Leave me and Sunshine alone to have ours.”

  “Well, if you insist.”

  Then he turns to me, pulls me into him, and kisses me ever so gently on the lips.

  “I love you,” he whispers in my ear.

  Then he walked back over to the other guys and sat down.

  After a few good byes, Mrs. Callahan and I were off to the spa to have a day filled with fun and relaxing before I got married tomorrow. Although I knew nothing to bad would happen while the guys were out having a good time, because my brother was there. I also know that he is a man too and he is definitely going to want to have fun after being overseas for so long.

  “Don’t worry Honey. Ryan and the guys will be good tonight.”

  She must have seen the worry I had on my face as I thought about what they were going to do. I tried to shrug it off and relax. But it was hard not to think about a stripper or someone with there grubby paws anywhere on my man. I don’t think that I could stomach it if something like that were to happen.

  For the rest of the day we were massaged and waxed. I had and hands massaged and painted. As well as receiving a pedicure. I had them paint my toes the same light purple color as my finger nails. Mrs. Callahan had lunch delivered to us. It was turkey sandwiches; which I happily ate as I was getting my feet done. When we were finally finished and was on our way back to the house, I could hardly keep my eyes open. Mrs. Callahan had to help me into the house and to my bed.

  “Tomorrow you will be a married woman. Are you excited,” she asked as she helped me out of my clothed and into the bed.

  “Um huh,” was all I managed to say, because as soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep.

  ~~~
  “Sunshine, sweetheart wake up. Its time to get ready,” Mrs. Callahan says as she gently nudges me up from my sleep.
  If it wasn’t for the special day that it was I would never have gotten up. I was having the most amazing dream about Ryan and I. I’m going to have to tell him about it, so maybe we could act it out as soon as I have this baby.
  I was smiling as I opened my eyes, causing Mrs. Callahan to grin too. “I see someone had a nice dream,” she said jokingly.
  But I still couldn’t help but blush at what she said. It is her son that I was dreaming about after all; and I was a bit unconventional that she knew what I was thinking about doing with her son. Even if she assured me that I had nothing to worry about.
  “So whats first,” I ask stretching up out of bed?
  “Since we are having the wedding here at the house, I let you sleep as long as I possibly could without you being late walking down the aisle.”
  “What? What time is it,” I say as I frantically tried getting out of the bed and making my way to the bathroom and into the shower.
  She followed behind me.
  “Don’t worry. Just relax and get in the shower. When you are done come out in the bedroom. I will have something for you to eat while I help you to get dressed,” she says patting me on the shoulder, then leaving out the bathroom.
  I looked at my phone that was on the counter and it said 10:30. Shit. I am supposed to be getting married at 12 0‘clock in the afternoon, how could I have sleep for so long. That had me rushing to get in the shower and quickly but efficiently wash up and getting out. After brushing my teeth and putting on lotion, I put on a silk purple robe I had on and went out into the bedroom. Waiting for me was a tray that had OJ, a few different kinds of my favorite fruits, some toast and a small bowl of cucumbers. Which I have a craving for every morning when I wake up. I was so happy that she remembered.
  I quickly dove right in and started eating my food. As I munched on the cucumbers and toast, there was a soft knock at the door.
  Knock Knock Knock
  “Sunshine are you decent in there,” Mrs. Callahan says as she peeks her head around the door.
  “I’m fine mom come on in.”
  She smiles big at my reply, looks behind her, then steps into the room; leaving the door open slightly.
  “How are you feeling this morning? Are you ready to get dressed?”
  “I’m ready. More ready then I thought I’d be. I’m just so happy that I will be married to Ryan soon,” I say.
  “Perfect,” she says clapping her hands together.
  “I brought a friend of mine to help me do your hair and make-up,” she says walking over to the door before I could ask her who.
  When she opened the door and stepped back out of the way to let her visitor in. When I saw who it was I was instantly stilled.
  “Charlie,” I cried out.
  She smiled and ran over to me. I was up off the bed to meet her. We hugged each other tight.
  “I’ve missed my partner in crime, you know,” she says.
  “Me too. How did you get here?”
  “Well, Mrs. Callahan got a hold of me thru Facebook and told my about my best friend getting married
today. I should be mad at you for you not telling me yourself,” she said, I blushed and smiled nervously.
  “I could never be mad at you. Plus she told me a little about what’s been going on; and why you were so forgetful on calling me.”
  I look over at her, and she was smiling. Then I looked back at Charlie.
  “What did she tell you,” I ask?
  “Oh not to much. Only that my best friend was getting married and that as was as pregnant as pregnant could get.”
  Good. She didn’t mention Rachel and how she tried to ruin things for Ryan and I. I don’t know if I could handle that right now. Charlie has a way of putting people in their place; and I know that if Mrs. Callahan told her about Rachel she would hunt her down and give her a piece of her mind.
  “Oh and she told me about that Rachel girl. You know if I see her I just might smack her for being so mean to you.”
  “Oh Charlie, please don’t,” I say.
  “You are the most beautiful and caring woman I know. I can’t imagine why anyone would ever want to hurt you,” she says matter of factly.
  “You always knew how to make me feel good. Now how is my gorgeous best friend doing? Are you still with that one guy,” I asked her?
  “Oh no. He was such a gasbag. I got tired of him trying to have sex with me and telling me how fat and ugly I was.”
  “But what was he thinking. Your body is perfect. You have perfect thighs, waist, breast, and a flat stomach. Why would he say that,” I asked still shocked that any man would think she was anything less than amazing.
  She shrugged and said, “Oh I don’t know. Maybe its that he was mad that I told him that I was a virgin, and he wasn’t good enough for me to give him that special part of myself to.”
  “Really. Well I’m glad that you didn’t sleep with him them, because you deserve to be with someone who will treat you right.”
  “I’m glad too,” a male voice says.
  We all look up to see who it was and see Patrick standing at the door with a nice sexy grin on his face. I could see Charlie blushing to her roots. She is usually so strong and unbothered by things. So it was odd but nice to see that something or someone could have a good effect on her.
