Zee pulled her onto his chest as if she weighed nothing. “Guess I’d...like that, too.”
Anna’s heart was floating somewhere in the middle of her body, floating free. “Good. It’s a deal, then.”
“I’ll still whip your ass when you need it, though.”
“I hope you do, big guy.”
A dim glow bounced in from the streetlight outside, and the rain sounded as if it had started up again. The way Anna settled against Zee’s breath, rising and falling with his body, all of it felt right.
And the way he kissed the side of her forehead, leaving his lips pressed there for a very, very long moment, told her he agreed.
