She was happy with the way things had turned out. Leon was free but promised to come home for all family dinners from now on. Digby and Leon were spending their free time over spring break together, though Leon was now forced to watch Digby practice new audition monologues.
She was no longer nervous about tracking down a killer but was nervous about the day’s activities. She and Ryan had allowed Lilly to pick the outing. Lilly needed Eva and Leila’s approval for the trip, but it seemed like the two senior ladies were more adventurous than Heather was. They were gung-ho for Lilly’s idea of parasailing.
Heather knew that it was safe but still was a little anxious about being strapped to something she thought of as a kite over the water.
“This is going to be fun!” Lilly said.
Eva and Leila were giggling with excitement. Amy was holding Jamie’s hand as they both looked up to the sky.
Ryan appeared at Heather’s side. “Peters was happy for the invitation, but he had to decline. He’s updating the press on how our investigation concluded.”
“He and Hope made peace?” asked Heather.
“Looks like it,” Ryan said. “Though I’m sure they’ll butt heads in the future. They both want to prove themselves with their work.”
Lilly turned to her mom and pointed to the boat where they would take turns going up in the sky. “Are you ready, Mom?”
“Up, up and away!” said Heather.
