[The Shifters Committee 03.0] Jealous Flames Page 15

by Rebecca Foxx

It was a beautiful and tranquil site. "This is absolutely amazing, Lucas."

"I like it out here myself. If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be here. This is like a small slice of heaven."

  "I can agree with that."

He walked around to her side of the car, ever the gentleman and held her hand as she exited the vehicle. Hand in hand, they made their way to the front door.

Amazed, she entered the house which was in complete island décor. From the colors to the open floor plan, Jada was impressed with what she saw.

"What do you think? Would you like a tour?"

  "I would love one."

Jada closed her eyes, biting her lip as Lucas placed his hand in the small of her back. The feel of his touch was electrifying, leaving her craving for more.

He showed her every part of the house, commenting on all of the décor and the perks of having the house out in the hills.

His hand never left her back, as he guided her through the house. She felt protected in his presence, even though the man was a wanted fugitive.

"I'm going to get us some wine. Make yourself comfortable. I will be right back."

Jada wandered around, finding herself out on the balcony overlooking the bay. The site was breathtaking and she was completely enamored by her present company.

Lucas returned with two glasses and a bottle of wine. He popped the bottle and poured a glass for each of them.

"I would like to toast to a wonderful evening with such a beautiful lady."

"Thank you. I think that is a lovely thing to toast to." Their glasses clinked together and Jada took a sip. She was well aware that she would need to start asking some questions and probe in order to stay on the job.

"Tell me a little more about what you do." She peered at him over the rim of her glass.

"Nothing that interesting." His reply was short and sweet.

"Any job that has you traveling like this in the lap of luxury has to be something interesting."

Lucas shook his head with a smile, that dimple peeking out from his right cheek. He was definitely hard to resist. Especially standing so close to her, his presence lingering over her.

"I guess you could say that. But I'm just a regular guy. Nothing too exciting. Especially where work is concerned. I like a healthy amount of work and play. Does that make sense?"

His eyes were penetrating her, seeing right through to her soul. For a moment, Jada wondered if he knew that she was working for the feds. She imagined him pulling the pin from her hair and throwing it to the ground, discarding the only link between her and her crew at work.

What would she do if Lucas suddenly found out her cover?

"Where did you go right now? I feel like you went somewhere in your mind."

The feel of Lucas's fingertips against her face made Jada momentarily lose her thoughts of control. She leaned in to his touch. He set his glass down first, then taking her glass, he set hers down as well.

"It was as if you drifted off somewhere else in your thoughts, Jada." His smile was intoxicating, his presence created a craving.

When his lips touches hers, it was a connection unlike no other. Jada was well aware what would happen from that point on. She could not hold back even if she tried. And she did not even want to. She did not want to stop his fingertips from running up and down her spine.

She did not want to stop him from kissing her to the point where he was taking her breath away. And she most certainly did not want to stop him from nibbling gently on her earlobe while he whispered to her how much he desired her.

She was not going to stop him at all. Lucas wanted her as badly as she wanted him. The warm breeze enveloped them as Lucas began to undress her.

"You are absolutely beautiful," he remarked as he took in all of her body. Regarding the beauty in front of him, Lucas appeared mesmerized by her. She loved the way that he looked at her. Like she was the most desirable woman in the world. That was an amazing feeling coming from a man that could jet set around the world and have any woman that he wanted.

"Will you stay the night with me, Jada?"

She nodded, knowing that she was in way too deep to turn back now.

  Chapter Five

He showered her with affection, bathed her with kisses. Taking his time to explore every part of her body, Lucas was the kind of attentive lover that Jada enjoyed.

The kind that wanted to make sure that she was going to be as satisfied as he was. They did not bother going into the house to go to bed. Instead, right there on the balcony, Lucas took her.

Pressing her body against the wall, he leaned in to her as he discarded his clothing. Jada was pleased with what she saw. Hard chiseled abs were under his shirt, although he was tall and lean. His body was a specimen and she could tell that he worked out avidly.

Jada wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around her waist as he picked her up. Lucas was now in perfect position to enter her, but Jada wiggled her hips, hoping that he would go for more foreplay.

He took the bait, his fingers exploring her softness to prime her. Once he was satisfied that she was ready, Lucas stared her in her eyes with a devilish grin. She was so focused on his lips that she was surprised when he entered her.

Jada had not been prepared to feel so much all at once. It was a sweet surprise and she loved the way that he never took his eyes off of her.

He concentrated on her as he penetrated her, filling her completely. Jada shuddered, feeling the smoothness of his stroke. Knowing what it felt to finally be this close to Lucas, she yearned for more.

He reached for her, unpinning her hair, letting it fall to her shoulders. She did not even thing about the device that he had just undone. Lucas held her close, rocking her body through bliss.

Lucas whispered to her, telling her how much he adored her and wanted her. He stayed connected to her, inside of her trying to get deeper within her being. He had drawn her in to him and she could tell that he was equally taken by him.

Lucas paused, biting Jada's lip. Their bodies were now becoming slick with sweat and sticky with bliss. He put her down, turning her to face the shore over the balcony. Hearing the waves crashing, the tide rolling in and out, it was the rhythm that the two danced to.

The push and pull of the waters was not unlike the push and the pull of the passion that enflamed the two. As he entered her from behind, Jada decided that it was best to just give in to the passion. It was better to let things flow and feel every movement, every motion.

She reached behind her, arching her back and allowing Lucas more access to her center. The two of them savored the emotion, the intensity of it all.

Lucas continued to drive her body crazy. He was relentless but still maintained a gentle demeanor that left her feeling like she was the siren that he wanted so badly.

He did not stop until she climaxed and even then, he continued to please her. She begged for him to stop but he would not, only when he found his own satisfaction did he release her from his lair. He nestled his chin in the nape of her neck, pulling her body to him.

  "Are you alright?" he asked.

  "I am."

"I don't want you to feel like I have taken advantage of you. I realize that this is a delicate situation."

"No, Lucas. I don't think that at all. We are both adult and able to do things the way that we want to. There is a freedom in that. I like what we shared."

Her heart raced. Had Lucas been reading her mind? Or had he somehow caught on to who she was and what she was actually there for?

Lucas turned her to face him. Sealing their tryst with a kiss, Jada was not even sure how things had happened so fast between them. Although she loved her freedom, and she had not considered dating in quite some time, there was something about Lucas that made her want him around.

That was not something that was realistic in her world, just a thought and a desire. There was a delicate balance between the job that she was there to do and what her desires were
calling her to do. Jada could not remember ever being placed in a position to have to choose before.

It was not something that she anticipated when she agreed to the job at hand.

She did not want it get awkward between her and Lucas. After sleeping with one another, the situation had the potential to go awry. Jada did not want to be the one responsible for messing up months of surveillance and work that her coworkers had done. So she continued to play along.

It was all that could do right now.

Jada had a choice to make and it was one that she never imaged. When she agreed to take the assignment, all she thought of was advancing her career. How easy it had been to get sidetracked. Lucas was so charismatic and he drew her in so quickly, that she had not had time to think about it.

Lucas carefully picked her up and carried her back to the bedroom where he laid her down on the bed. "Wait here."

He disappeared in to the bathroom where he came back with plush terrycloth robes.

"Right this way," he beckoned as he passed her the robe. "We are going to go outside and sit in the jacuzzi. Maybe a little champagne, fruit, and the beautiful night air."

At this point, Jada was well aware that she no longer had the hair pin microphone in her hair.

"That sounds perfect, but I think I left something on the balcony."

"I can go with you to get it."

"No," Jada commented. "I can do it." She stepped up on her toes and kissed him on the cheek.

"I can get it and meet you at the jacuzzi."

He kissed her. "Okay. But don't take too long."

Jada disappeared down the hall to balcony. She found their clothes discarded on the ground. Searching through the pile, she found the hair pins.

"Still working." Jada kept it short and sweet, not wanting to draw any attention to herself. She fashioned the pin back in her hair and made her way back into the house.

The Jacuzzi was on the walkout from the bedroom. Lucas was standing there waiting for her to be with him. She untied her robe, letting it drop to the ground. Well aware that he liked what he saw, Jada stepped into the Jacuzzi, beckoning for Lucas to follow behind her.

  Chapter Six

Sitting in the bubbling water, Jada connected with Lucas even more. They sipped champagne and talked all night long. She felt like they'd known each other forever. This could not be work.

The deeper Jada got into it, the more she decided that she wanted out. There was no way that she could continue to fall for the man when she knew what he demise was.

He was going to get arrested because he was a wanted man. The FBI was after him and there was no way that it was going to change. No matter how tender his kisses were, no matter how good it felt in his embrace, she could not make the relationship into something that it was not.

It was never going to materialize into anything else. Lucas was going to be apprehended and partially due to the fact that she had helped lure him in to the feds.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked. "You've been lost in thought all evening."

Jada sipped her champagne, hoping that it would help her gain the courage to continue with the job that she had to do. So far, it was not working.

"Being here in paradise is pretty amazing. I thought that I was going to come on this trip and spend it alone, relaxing. But then I met you. I had not anticipated meeting you."

"And hopefully you don't regret any of it." He moved closer to her in the water, his body so close to hers. Being in such proximity made her senses go wild. She knew that she would not be able to hold out on this assignment much longer. Not that Jada was hoping for his downfall, but she knew that if there was much more contact, she would surely fall for the man.

"I don't regret any of it at all." Licking her lips, she teased him. "The only thing that I regret is that you will be leaving, I will be leaving, and this entire dream will be over."

Lucas sipped his champagne. "That happens. But that is the beauty of it all."

  "Where will you be going?"

He shrugged. "I don't know. I had not thought about it. Maybe back to the states or maybe to another island. I'm not sure. I have a lot of work to do coming up and I want to be able to enjoy the fruits of my labor."

"Investments. What does your day look like? I bet it's hectic."

"Not really. Meetings. Lots of research involved. It's not as glamorous as you may think. Want to know something?"

  "Anything."

Lucas swallowed the rest of his champagne.

"I think that your life may be more interesting than mine."

"Can't be," Jada replied. "You are jet setting around. Freedom. Money. I don't have a life like that."

"Believe me, my life is not about as much freedom as you think. And besides, money can be the one thing that both frees you and stifles you. It's a real catch twenty-two. Sometimes you get the life that you want and it's everything that you don't want all at once."

Somehow, she understood exactly what it was that he was trying to tell her. Trying to pry information out of him seemed impossible. If she was in his shoes, she thought that she most likely would not give up information that easily to someone she just met either.

Especially with the kind of things that he was involved in.

Not sure what the FBI wanted her to gather from him, Jada was ready to give up completely on the entire situation. She did not want to fall any further for Lucas and she did not want to be there when he was apprehended.

All that she wanted was to be able to end this charade and get back to living her normal life. Besides, she was not even sure if she was going to get the accolades she was expecting in her budding career.

All of this was so up in the air and she was not sure what was right and what was wrong anymore. Jada did know that she'd met and fell hard for a man that was no good for her. She also was rational enough to know that she needed to be aware of the fact that her dreams and goals to work with the FBI could slip right through her fingers if she did not pay attention and stay focused.

"I could certainly understand that." She set her glass to the side and leaned in for a kiss. If this was going to be some of her last moments with Lucas, she wanted to make it count. The sex that they had in the Jacuzzi was mind blowing.

He entered her, more an expert on her body this time. He knew exactly what she wanted and gave her what she needed with every stroke. Calming her cravings and loving every inch of her, Lucas kissed all of her skin to cool the fire. It was to no avail. She was quiet, absorbing all of the moment and not wanting to miss anything that was happening because it would all soon be a sweet memory.

This time, it was as if they both knew that it would be the last time. It was as if they both knew that these last moments would be on borrowed time and that they would have to leave each other alone for good. Lucas gave her all that he had and Jada took in everything. Her hips moving, gliding in rhythm with his, she tasted his lips.

The champagne taste still on his tongue, Jada tried to drink him all in. It seemed impossible to do so. She could not get enough of him.

And when it was over, Jada knew that she had to tell him what was happening. She could not walk away from this situation not in total control of what was going on.

She unsecured the hair pins, letting her hair cascade to her chocolate brown shoulders. When the pins fell in the water, she

  Chapter Eight

Jada could not get the look on Lucas's face out of her mind. She divulged the fact that she was working with the FBI to him and she thought that the world was going to come crashing down around them.

Only in that moment did she realize how stupid it was that she discarded the hair pins. Lucas could have physically harmed her, but he didn't. Instead, he kissed her on the forehead and got out of the Jacuzzi. She did not see him again after that.

Not sure how he escaped from the house or even which direction he went, Jada was slightly hurt, but she knew that this was the way that things had to go. Everything had gone
way too far and it had to stop before it got too far beyond her control.

Lucas was a good man, but she could not get wrapped up in that side of things. She had to stay focused on the fact that he was a fugitive. She was happy that he'd made the exit that he did.

That way she was not responsible for withholding information. As far as she was concerned, when she told her boss Charlie B that while out on a date with Lucas that he'd excused himself to go in the house for more champagne, and after he did not return twenty minutes later, she went inside to check on him. When she did not find him anywhere in the house, she dressed and called a cab to take her back to the villa.
