  “D, she’s almost twenty-one.” Jeremy looks almost guilty when he says it, but my mind is too stuck on the girl to concentrate on him. “You can’t stand in front of her for the rest of her life glaring at anyone who looks at her sideways. She’s an adult. It’s time for you to start thinking about yourself and what you need in life. Now, I don’t know that that particular girl is it, but a feisty redhead with a body like that? At least it’d be fun finding out.”

  Actually, he has a good point. I’ve spent the past five years raising Sarah, and in that time, this girl is the only one who’s caught my attention in a way that means I won’t forget about her by tomorrow morning. “I’ll think about it,” is all I say, because if Jer knows I think he’s right he’ll never let me live it down.
