by Holli H. Castillo

More than that, Ruth wanted to tell Ryan what she did for her. If Ruth hadn’t switched the clip in Jacob’s gun when he had gone into the hospital, Ryan wouldn’t be here at all. And Jacob wouldn’t be dead, in all likelihood. What chance would Ryan have had if Jacob’s gun had actually been loaded? Yes, sisters should always stick together.

Ruth would have given anything to see the look on Jacob’s face when he realized that he was defenseless. Especially when he must have realized that Ruth had betrayed him. She smiled again. She couldn’t save the others, but she had saved Ryan.

Ruth and Ryan, they helped each other out. And justice really had been served. Maybe one day, when Ruth was far enough away from New Orleans, she would drop Ryan a note to let her know.
