Keep up the great story and I look forward to #8

  5 Out of 5 Stars

“Being a Marine Corpsman who served with an infantry battalion in Vietnam, I can attest to the gore, brutality and suffering you describe in your combat situations. The realism in your prose is spot on. I wish so many of John's close friends did not die. It reminds me of the grief I had to experience and at times still do. . .”

  About the Author

What is the series “The Fall of America” about?

What if it all came crashing down?

It started with the biggest stock market crash in history. Banks closed down under the weight of their bogus investments, and the financial sector failed. People looked to the government to make it all better. However, they couldn't. Hyper-inflation, mass unemployment and infrastructure started to breakdown. The food trucks didn't show up at the stores, and the shelves went empty.

Things turned ugly fast when there was no power for long parts of the day —then forever. Cops, doctors, and trash collectors just stopped showing up for work when the paychecks were delayed too often, or never came. Things started falling apart quickly after that. Whole regions declared a "State of Emergency" in an effort to maintain order and civility, but it wasn't always enough. Starvation, looting and murder became the norm. Then, our American civilization collapsed completely.

The Fall of America, Book 1: Premonition of Death is the beginning of a new series about an average man whose life goes downhill fast once society breaks down. Set in the rural south, a scorched-earth showdown with some local thugs leaves John and his wife homeless and on the run. He encounters a member of a survivalist group, made up of former military personnel, and joining them may be his only hope. Just basic survival becomes vicious and resistance is at any cost, as the devastated country comes under a new siege—invading Russian troops.

The Fall of America, Book 2: Fatal Encounters is the continuing saga of the fall. John and his friends come face to face with Russian troops, but unlike the first book, this time they're ready and able to offer much more resistance. Russian invaders try to pacify the areas of the South under their control. The American resistance groups divide their forces into small cells to better operate effectively behind enemy lines. But as their efforts begin to gain ground, the Russians respond with harsh reprisals; mass executions become the norm and prison camps soon spring up in remote small towns. “Fear brings compliance,” is their motto. The battle for control of Mississippi gets hot, and a violent world gets even more ugly.

The Fall of America, Book 3: Enemy Within. Things are turning more organized by the partisans and with this organization comes larger attacks on Russian targets, which results in more Americans killed in reprisals. As the partisans become better organized, the Russians become more sadistic. The Americans are now attacking gulags and air bases when the opportunity arises and Russian casualties mount, but there is at least one traitor or more within the partisans. Can the Americans discover the enemy within?

The Fall of America, Book 4: Winter Operations. The partisans turn mean after ambushing a Russian convoy and discovering cases of the 9K32 Strela-2M missiles, or as the Russians call them, arrows. The missiles soon change how the partisans operate; they are a portable, shoulder-fired, low-altitude surface-to-air missile system with a highly explosive warhead. They have an infrared guidance system. Soon the partisans are attacking Air Bases and shooting down random helicopters using the missiles and Moscow is not pleased. However, it is the discovery of two nuclear weapons, called suitcase bombs, by the Russians, that is about to change this war in ways that have never been considered. Which side will use the nuclear weapons first?

The Fall of America, Book 5, Fallout. The line has been crossed...First they used chemical weapons on the Americans, then the Russians set off a tactical nuclear bomb in an effort to destroy a suitcase nuke captured by the rebels. Deadly radioactive fallout now adds to the already fierce battle to reclaim the U.S.A. and the partisans have even less to lose. Now the rebels must decide whether to strike ba
ck in kind—An eye for an eye? In what may be a one-way mission, John's partisan team volunteers to pick up the gauntlet. Armed with a stolen suitcase nuke, the partisans try to carry the device deep inside enemy controlled land to reach the target.

The Fall of America, Book 6, Call Sign Copperhead. Dazed and disoriented, John awakens in a field hospital somewhere in Louisiana. His last mission to capture and detonate a Russian suitcase nuke left him seriously wounded and unclear about the mission's ultimate outcome. As he begins the healing process, both physically and mentally, he is unaware of the Russian wrath his actions have unleashed. After being caught unaware by one of their own weapons of mass destruction, the Russians are out for a payback. But the tide of war is changing. Fresh support from Chinese tanks and aircraft will help the partisan forces go head to head in larger engagements with the Russian invaders. However it is small guerrilla units and dedicated men like John that will make the difference in driving back the deeply entrenched Russian forces in the no-holds-barred battle for America.

The Fall of America, Book 7, Airborne. As the Americans continue to fight against the Russians advance, their forces are becoming more organized and better equipped. But a devastating drone attack against their rebel leadership forces their hand; they must decentralize the resistance and spread the remaining forces into more areas of the United States. John is re-assigned to the Pacific Northwest, close to the Seattle. His task is simple; turn up the heat and make the area hell for the occupiers. He will achieve his mission via a campaign of sniping, ambush, and sabotage of all things Russian. Can he survive raid after raid as the Russians close in to tighten the net?

  Author’s Note

This series of books has been welcomed by many and disliked by a few, depending on their political party. While I am not a Trump fan, I voted for the one person I thought would be the best for America and myself. Regardless of what is said, I still feel that the Obama Administration should have done something for our men in Benghazi, but chose not to for some strange reason. I'm a retired US Air Force Senior Master Sergeant (E8) and feel their actions were wrong, but I have no idea what information was provided to the White House that night. We should never desert or leave anyone alive after or still actively involved in combat. As brothers in arms we depend on each other, and we are trained to believe our government will do everything in its power to save/help us. I feel we let them down.

Plus, here we are many years later, and the individuals known as part of those who attacked and killed our men still have not been punished. I am surprised Trump is actually attempting to do what he promised during the election, and that's hard to do, especially with all the media after him and the Democrats refusing to work with him. Obama couldn't keep his promises either; “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” No President in my old memory has tried as hard as Trump to do what he promised, but the media hates him more than the far left does. I feel he has accomplished a great deal for a man who is hated so much by the left and right. It's the hatred both political parties have for each other that I feel, along with senseless spending, will one day cause our collapse. We need to start acting like grown ups and work together, regardless of political party. We should forget our political differences, be Americans and do what it proper for our nation.

This series is about what will or could happen if America fell as a nation and collapsed. I'm sure the Romans thought they'd never fall one day too, but it happened. Eventually all big societies or nations have fallen, so my books may not be that far fetched. You and I may never see it happen, but it's just a matter of time, in my opinion.

The fall of America is a real possibility one day,

  Chapter 1

The submarine neared the surface, but didn’t break the water’s smoothness. It was 0500 hours and the sub was just a few hundred meters from the Washington state coastline. A periscope went up, the Captain checked around the ship 360 degrees, and then said in Chinese, “All Clear. Load the torpedo tubes. Down periscope.”

A small man, five feet two, maybe 110 pounds, black hair and deep brown eyes climbed into tube number one. A larger man at 165 pounds, five feet nine inches, with auburn hair and green eyes climbed into tube number two. Both were dressed in black cotton tactical uniforms, had back packs in their hands that weighed about 70 pounds, and were wearing scuba gear. The largest man was American, while the other was Chinese. The dark close fit of the torpedo tube reminded the American of the last time he was injured and the doctors did an MRI on him.

“Open torpedo tubes.” The ship’s Captain ordered.

The doors opened and the compartments that housed the human torpedoes flooded with salt water. It was night and while nothing could be seen, the water was felt as it rose in the tube. Minutes later, both men swam from the sub and moved toward the beach where members of the resistance were to meet the white man and his Chinese partner. They were pushing their heavy backpacks in front of them as they moved.

“Close torpedo tube doors and come to a heading of 239.” the Commander of the submarine said. “All ahead full.”

Using a lighted compass, the two men in the water had no difficulty in finding the beach.

Both slowly raised their heads when about 100 yards from the beach and using night vision goggles, scanned the landing area. The camouflage paint they wore on their faces and necks made them almost invisible to a casual observer. They saw nothing and the beach was supposed to be cleared of any mines, too, which worried the American swimmer. It was mid summer so the water was warm, and the air fresh and light from the west. Many of the men in training could not exit a sub by the torpedo tubes because of claustrophobia and out of ten, maybe six would continue with their training. The others washed out.

Using communications built into their helmets, the two remained floating with their heads out of the water, as the American said, “Just as we planned, you go ashore, move to the tree line and I will join you a couple of minutes later. Now, go.”

Lowering his mask, the Chinese swimmer was soon gone.

The American waited with the safety off on his weapon, watching for any indications the Chinese was seen or came under fire. It remained still and quiet. He could hear and see a gentle surf hitting the beach, while overhead a million stars sparkled.

Minutes later, “Otter Two, this is Otter One.”

  “Go, One.” the American said.

“All clear. I repeat, all clear. One out.”

Lowering his mask, Otter Two swam to the beach. He then crawled from the sea, over the beach, to the trees. He then stood and checked his surroundings for anything unusual. He saw nothing out of place in his goggles. He heard a slight whisper, “I'm maybe twenty meters in front of you at your twelve O'clock position.”

“Copy, One.” He slowly began to move forward.

Once they were together, Otter one said in Chinese, “Papa Otter, Otter One.”

“Go, One.” the radio operator on the Chinese Submarine said in the same tongue.

“Sweet dreams. I repeat, Sweet Dreams, over.”

“Copy, Sweet Dreams. Papa Otter, out.”

“We need to ditch our scuba gear. Then, let's move.” the Chinese man said in fluent English, and minutes later both men moved forward. Soon both were only wearing their packs and they were filled with ammunition, food, grenades and other tools of their trade. Their trade was killing Russians and so far this year, business had been good.

They were less than three miles from where they were to meet the resistance members, but for security reasons, the partisans didn't know how the two men would be delivered. Most thought by helicopter or parachute. No one considered a submarine, not a soul, which is why they used one. The Americans the resistance were to meet was a Russian language expert and the Chinese with him was his body guard and Chinese translator. Both were prior Special Forces and had served together years ago. The Chinese, Major Yin Xue, had been r
aised in San Francisco's China Town. The American, Colonel Hughes Oliver, had been born in Saint Louis. He'd served in the Rangers, but after a few out of country tours prior to the fall, he'd gotten out while still a Lieutenant. It was only after he joined the resistance that he'd been promoted rapidly up the officer ranks to Colonel.

Pulling a short range radio from his waterproof backpack, the American said, “Badger One, this is Otter Two, over.”

  “Uh, go two.”

“We're less than three mikes from you and will reach your position shortly. Is your area hot or cold?” the man asked, wanting to know if there were unfriendlies around.

“Cold, I repeat, our area is cold. Green, green, green.”

“Copy, I'll meet you coming from your west and I'm riding shanks mare.”

“Roger, understand. Be prepared to use the password and counter password, over.”

“Roger that and out.” Hughes Oliver said and then indicated for Yin to continue.

Almost thirty minutes later a voice called out, “Apple!”

  “Fruit.”

“Come, but keep your weapons in your left hands.” the voice ordered.

Seconds later, two men wearing full camo stepped from the trees, and they were escorted to a small group of four men.

“Colonel Oliver?” John Williamson, also a Colonel and the Officer in charge of a tri-state partisan organization asked. A huge German Shepherd sat beside him, looking the two men over closely, but not growling.

“That's me.” Oliver said and then extended his hand.

As they shook, John asked, “Major Xue, I believe, right?”
