Clark nodded. “Agreed.”
Quinn thought for a few seconds and then said, “Hey, what’s that make me, some sort of probie?”
Clark laughed. “That makes you something that hasn’t existed in over twenty years.”
“What’s that?”
“A clan initiate, a hunter in training. This was your idea, Quinn. We all have our roles. This is yours. You have to agree to it, though. You have to say it aloud to make it official.”
As Clark spoke, the amulet around Quinn’s neck pulsed to match her heartbeat. She traced its outline beneath her shirt, feeling the faint vibrations through her fingertips. A memory came to her from the fight in the caverns, something demon-possessed Jared had called her. She smiled.
“I accept, but I’m not a hunter. I’m something better. I’m a huntress.”
Clark nodded. “Very well.” He got up and came over to her, laid his hand on her head, and said, “Welcome to the clan, Huntress Initiate Quinn Faust.”
Quinn’s eyes widened as the amulet flared with energy only she could feel.
It infused her with power, leaving her tingling from head to toe. At the same time, a woman’s voice sounded in her head, one that was familiar somehow. It brought tears to her eyes.
Welcome, and well done, my daughter, my Quinn, my new huntress.
Quinn is just learning what it means to be a Huntress. Will she master her new skills and abilities in time to save her best friend? Find out in Huntress Apprentice!

Jamie’s Author Notes
November 26, 2019
As Thanksgiving approaches, I get pretty angsty about getting everything done that needs doing. It makes me pretty testy to be around. The thing is, I shouldn’t be all tied up in a knot about things. My wife and I just got to be grandparents for the first time and I now understand the fun of that job. You get to play with them all you want and give them back for diaper changes.
I’ve chosen to be called Obi (short for Obi Wan) and yes, I plan on calling the grandkids padawans. Just another of the joys of being a fantasy and sci-fi author, I get to be quirky like that. I’m looking forward to this next chapter in my life.
This book, Huntress Initiate, represents another sort of birth for me. It’s the birth of a new series. It’s been a long time coming and is not just a result of my efforts. I also comes from the support of my wife, my mentor on the project Craig, and the thoughtful feedback of some awesome beta readers who helped me file away Quinn’s rough edges.
Just like the new baby in our family, I plan on shepherding this project forward, raising it from a newborn book and series to wherever it will take us. Quinn has a lot on her plate and will have to work hard to make her life work out the way she wants. This Obi plans on being there to carry her when needed along the way through the Huntress Clan Saga.
If you want to follow along, I post occasional videos along with more frequent written posts about current projects on which I’m working and a bunch of other random fun, funny, and nerdy stuff about fantasy books of all sorts in my reader group on Facebook, Jamie’s Fun Fantasy Readers. Look me up and join the fun.
Michael’s Publisher Notes
December 2, 2019
Hello!
My name is Michael Anderle, publisher, author, and very often collaborator with other amazing authors to bring you fun stories we hope you want to read over and over.
Thank you so much for reading this book, and past the story to the (very-important) Authors Notes and (semi-important) Publishers Notes here in the back.
I’ve been fortunate to meet a lot of authors and get to know them in the past few years.
With Jamie, I’ve been blessed to talk to him in places around the United States and (including his wonderful wife) all the way over in Bali.
I marvel at the creativity of some of my author compatriots and smiled as I read Jaime’s Author Notes when he admitted he will be called “Obi” by the grandchildren. His explanation (I believe) is brilliant. Who else besides authors and perhaps geeks get to so easily explain off why they need to be named after a Star Wars character?
Sheer awesomeness.
Jamie is new to LMBPN, but that doesn’t mean he is new to publishing. Not at all! In fact, Jamie has over thirty books out already on his website at http://jamiedavisbooks.com/ .
Go check it out and find out what fun fantasy reads and cool characters Jamie has already created.
A BIT MORE ABOUT JAMIE
All right, I admit I cheated just a little and asked him some clarification questions to make sure I had these answers right. It would suck for me to believe I am telling you something about Jamie and it was actually the answer for a different author I met at an event in England.
That would be horribly embarrassing for me, and I might duck the next time I see Jamie, face red and mortified!
Because, as I explain to people all the time, I suck at names, faces, and apparently, details of their lives.
So, here are a few facts about Jamie…
In 2020, Jaime plans on completing nine (9) new books with his favorite pet.
What is his favorite pet? I’m glad you asked (and if you didn’t, I just asked for you.)
He writes with his ever-present miniature schnauzer Peggy.
(Quick! Which Marvel character might he have named her after? Got it yet? No? Yes? She is named after Agent Peggy Carter.)
Often, you will find him arguing who shot first because Jamie’s favorite movie is Star Wars IV – A New Hope.
(Damned right Han shot first!. But that’s just my opinion.)
Finally, I asked him to share one thing few know about him, and the answer he gave me was, “Few people know that I was a stay-at-home dad to three kids pretty much until they were late teens.”
As a stay-at-home father myself from when my youngest were in late elementary until they graduated, I completely understand the occasional insanity of the effort. Since Jaime worked in the medical field, I think he had a better personality for the effort.
I might have lost a few brain cells helping raise our boys.
As always, THANK YOU for everything you do to support authors and LMBPN publishing. We can’t do what we do without you.
Ad Aeternitatem,
Michael Anderle
