Origin Exposed: Descended of Dragons, Book 2 Page 20

by Jen Crane

“Oh, shit,” I said. “I’m sorry, Timbra. He just showed up that day at the restaurant. And I should never have brought him to that party. It was a stupid, stupid call. I felt sorry for him, and I put all your lives in danger. I’m so sorry.”

“We’re all fine. No one got hurt,” Timbra said generously. Of course she couldn’t know about Eiven and Stryde.

“What else? Did you tell them everything? About my mom?” I looked to Ewan. “Did you tell them about the other Drakontos?”

“We were honest,” Ewan said, “but we didn’t offer up any more information than we had to. I think it’s safe to operate on the assumption that you don’t have any more secrets. You’d better warn the Drakontos there’s a search on for them.”

“They’re gone,” I whispered and pulled my knees up. I held my legs to my chest and buried my face in them until the threat of tears passed. “Eiven and Stryde are dead. And Bay left for god knows where in search of my mother.”

No one asked how it came to be that Stryde and Eiven had died. Maybe they feared I’d done it. At that moment I didn’t feel like reliving the nightmare, and just let it go unsaid.

“What now?” Timbra asked. “What do we do now?”

Ewan’s chest expanded on a deep breath. “Now we help Stella hide—and survive—until all this settles down.”

Moonlight reflected in the chocolate-colored curls surrounding Ewan Bristol’s rugged face. In the months I’d known him he’d always been broody, too clever by half, and so handsome my brain gushed oxytocin simply at the pleasure of looking at him.

But in that moment—when he knew all my secrets, my deficiencies, and the danger my future held—when he threw his fate in with my own... In that moment, I saw Ewan Bristol for the first time.

  Thank You for Reading!

  Dear Reader,

I hope you enjoyed Book Two in the Descended of Dragons series, Origin Exposed. Were you shocked with the way things progressed between Stella and Gresham? Are you Team Gresham or Team Ewan? Readers seem to be about half and half…poor Stella!

Book Three in the series, tentatively titled Salted Wound, is set to release Spring 2016. I think you’re going to love it. You won’t see some of the twists and turns coming! And don’t worry—there’s plenty more of both Gresham and Ewan.

Thank you for choosing to read this second book in the series. I love feedback; love hearing from readers. Tell me what you liked, what you loved…even what you didn’t love. You can write me at [email protected] or visit my site at www.JenCraneBooks.com

Lastly, if you feel so inclined, I’d love to read your review of Origin Exposed. Reviews help other readers find books they might enjoy. Please consider leaving a review of Origin Exposed by using this link to visit your bookstore.
