His laugh was broken. “You forget how good you are at the serene thing.” He slid his fingers along her cheek, into her hair. And then he breathed a great sigh. “I’m a lucky, lucky man. And I plan to spend a great deal of time taking advantage of my good luck.”
He dipped his head, his mouth claiming hers in a scorching kiss that could have melted ten-gauge steel. Warmth blossomed inside her, rolling through her like hot syrup. She was melting with need, with love.
“I need you, Anna. Come home with me. Marry me. Today.”
It was everything she’d ever wanted, ever dreamed. Leo and her … and their baby. Perfection. Bliss. Rightness.
“Yes,” she said. “Definitely, yes.”
He groaned and squeezed her tight, as if he would never let go.
“Remind me,” he said a few minutes later, between hot kisses to her lips, her throat, her cheeks, “to send Donna a thank-you note.”
“Why is that?” she asked when he let her breathe again.
He lifted his head, his dark eyes glittering with heat. “She’s the one who set the reporters on us.”
A flash of anger rushed through her, but it was gone like a wisp of smoke on the breeze. How could she possibly be angry when she was so happy? “And that’s a good thing because…?”
He grinned at her, and warmth filled her. “Because it opened our eyes to the truth.”
And that, she realized, as Leo swept her into his arms and carried her back up the beach, was a very fortunate thing. Sex was fabulous. But love was better.
Fabulous sex and love? Bliss.
