I moaned, kissing him harder than before.
When we both came down from our high, he circled me in his arms. “You have given me the best night of my life.”
“Really?” I kissed his chin. “I did?”
“Aster, you have no idea, do you?”
“About what?” I frowned, not quite sure what he was asking me.
He searched my face, a soft laugh escaping him. “I’ve been in love with you since we were kids.”
“Excuse me?” I sat up. “You have? Why didn’t you tell me this?”
“Would it have made a difference?”
“Yes! I wouldn’t have almost married that bastard,” I cried, punching Roux in the arm.
Roux moved behind me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. “I’m sorry. I should have said something. I’m not a pussy but when it came to telling you how I felt, the words would never leave my mouth. And then I left and came back, and you were already with Aaron. I’m not a homewrecker. I also thought you were happy, and I was scared you wouldn’t feel the same way about me.”
“Seriously? Are you fucking serious right now?”
He raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve been in love with you this whole time too,” I blurted, liking the taste of those words on my tongue. “But I never thought I had a chance with you.” I cupped his cheek, the scruff of his light beard scratching my fingers.
“Why the hell would you ever think that?” He covered my hand and kissed my palm.
“I’m not experienced like the other women you’ve been with. I thought that might have been a deal breaker for you, so I kept my feelings to myself. But I can’t…I can’t believe that this whole time…” I huffed. “I can’t believe you.”
He smirked, leaning his forehead against mine. “You didn’t tell me how you felt either.”
“It was almost too late,” I whispered, my stomach twisting over the fact that if Aaron never broke things off, Roux and I wouldn’t be where we were today.
Roux pulled me into his lap and cupped my face. “But it wasn’t. Everything happened for a reason, baby. Look at us now.”
“Naked and in love,” I muttered, circling my thumb over his nipple.
“Are you still in love with me?” Roux asked, rubbing his hands up and down my back.
“You know how little girls plan their fake weddings? You were my fake husband. Every single time. You know me. I trust you. My parents may not approve but I don’t care. They’ll get over it. You make me happy, Roux. You stood by me through everything with Aaron. You handle my sister with respect even though she doesn’t deserve it.”
“She’s one of the reasons Aaron left you.” Roux kissed my forehead. “I’m sorry. I should have told you. I shouldn’t have let her hold the fact that I’m in love with you over my head. I—”
“I know.”
He leaned back, cocking his head. “What?”
I let out a heavy breath. “I’ve known this whole time. One of our family trips, they would disappear together a lot. It happened when we were home too. They would hang out or text. I tried stealing a peek at his phone, but it was locked.” I shrugged. “I didn’t want to believe it. I heard about the other women too, but I was blind. I thought he loved me. I’m ashamed that I never mentioned it but until you kissed me, I thought Aaron was what I wanted and needed.”
“Fuck, baby girl.” Roux kissed me again. “I had no idea.”
“It’s okay.” I gave him a reassuring smile. “Honest.”
“Are you going to mention it to your sister?”
“No. Because honestly? I don’t care. I have you. And you are all I want.”
Roux laid me back on the bed, brushing my hair out of my eyes. “I love you, Aster. I only wish I would have told you sooner.”
My heart swelled. “And I love you.” I thought a moment. “But I thought you didn’t want a relationship.”
“I don’t.” He smirked. “Only with you.”
“God, you’re such an ass.” I smacked him playfully on the arm.
He laughed, digging his fingers into my ribs.
I laughed along with him.
Roux was my best friend. Now my lover and my life.
This was what a relationship should be.
Filled with trust and passion but most of all…
…a friendship.
Roux
I WALKED BACK AND forth, admiring my handywork. Running my fingers along my mouth, I continued pacing and waited.
Please.
More.
Fuck me.
I can’t wait anymore.
Those words would come. My wife was an impatient little thing. Especially now that we had been married for five years. It was our anniversary; the kids were with her parents and now it was our turn to play.
“Tell me what you want,” I demanded, brushing my fingers along the back of her neck when I walked by her.
“For my husband to fuck me.” She looked at me over her shoulder, a nice rosy hue hitting her cheeks as her eyes followed my every movement.
“Really?” I stopped behind her. “Maybe I should leave you like this.” I tugged on the rope that held her arms behind her back. “See how long you can go without having me inside this greedy body.”
A husky laugh left her. “I’m not sure I like that idea.”
I chuckled, wrapping my fingers around the rope at her back and pulled.
She gasped, the silky ends that were between her legs, pushing against her the harder I tugged. “God.”
“What did I tell you?” I sunk my teeth into her neck.
“Roux,” she whispered. “Sorry. I can’t control it.”
“Good. Let me control it for you, baby girl. That’s all I want. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“Yes, my love.”
Aster submitted to me completely.
Mind. Body. Soul.
She gave me every inch of her and took every inch of me just the same. I thought I had always been in control when really, it was her.
One word and everything would stop.
“Happy Anniversary, baby,” Aster whispered an hour later and placed a soft peck on my mouth before snuggling into me.
“Happy Anniversary.” I hugged my body around hers and pulled her against me. “You know…” I trailed a finger down the side of her body, watching her skin erupt into tiny goosebumps.
“What?” Aster rolled over onto her back, staring at up at me.
“We have two kids.” I cupped her jaw, brushing my thumb along her bottom lip.
“We do.” Her mouth parted, her tongue licking along the pad of my thumb before giving it a gentle nip.
Pushing her onto her stomach, I knelt between her spread legs. “I’m going to fuck a third one into you.”
She laughed, opening her body up to me. “Have at it, my delicious husband.”
And I did.
