Jamie! One of the hunters called. They must’ve been the hunter who was incapacitated’s name. Nepolai rushed further down the hall doing his best to hide in shadows of the hall. One of the hunters darted past the hall Nepolai was standing in but the second one stopped and seen Nepolai in his proof you.
Son of a bitch! The hunter yell charging after him. Nepolai cut the next corner to the left inch of this back against the wall. He lashed a knife in the hunters chest just as he came around the corner. He pulled his knife from the hunters chest and kicked him back watching him fall flat to the ground. That’s one. He thought. Nepolai sped walk into the lobby is surprised at how empty it was. He figured there will be more hunters, more people for got sake they caught himself the community. He didn’t waste any more time questioning he ran up the staircase and looked around trying to remember where the fathers room was. Grunting came from the right side of the staircase. Before he could look down the corner and see where the grunting was coming from a hunter yanked him back and tossing him towards the stairway. The knife dropped and now he had enough time to use his hands as the hunter charged him. Nepolai lost his balance as he power kicked the hunter into the wall smashing against a small table. He caught himself stumbling down the top of the staircase but ran back up and headed towards his knife. The hunter charged at him again but this time landing a few jabs in his body in a right hook to his face. Nepolai forced himself back and ducks his next swing. He wrapped his arms around the hunters legs and pushed him over his back sending the hunter flying over the railing. Nepolai turned and watched the hunters body slammed against the marble floor. His eyes were still wide open but he didn’t move. Either he was dead or paralyzed. He the way he didn’t really care. Nepolai grabbed his knife and followed the grunting coming from the father’s room. Just as he power kicked the hunter into the table he smashed the father’s door in.
Chapter 25
Nepolai stood in the father’s doorway. Aubri Bexley and Rylan were on kneeling in the front of the father’s room facing back to him. They all look back at him all three terrified. Nepolai couldn’t help but feel that all of it was his fault.
Again Nepolai I am so glad that you can join us. I been wondering when Leah here would be rushing to your aid. He said. The father thought she was pathetic. Everything about the look he gave her suggested nothing more and nothing less. She avoided complete eye contact with him. Maybe she was but if she was the one that helped Nepolai she didn’t deserve such a title. He looked at her from the corner of his eye wanting the thinker but it wasn’t the time to. Nepolai crouched down in front of Rylan and pulled the duct tape from her mouth.
Are you okay? He asked concerned if the father had hurt her or anyone for that matter. Her head dropped to her chest letting out a cry. She sniffed. You killed her. She wept. You killed Madison! She barked almost chewing his face off. Nepolai sighed. How does she know he thought. Nepolai stood from crouching not knowing how to respond to her. Was he supposed to say, no? Was he supposed to deny the fact that it was supposed to be her and not Madison and if it wasn’t for him mistaking the two she would be dead instead. It was nothing he could say the way she looked at him he could tell how disgusted she was with him.
Did you eat her? She asked. He didn’t respond. He knew she knew already there was no point in asking so why would he answer. He knew he had lost her at that moment in any feelings she ever had for him were now nothing.
Nepolai turned to the father. The ends right now! He said.
No, no I’m afraid you’re wrong Caesar but it’s far from over and you still need to make a decision. The father said.
This will be the last time I’ll declined to be your bitch. He said.
Son, that was never an option. Either you choose to kill all three of them right now or I’ll do it for you. You’ll be my bitch either way. He said. Nepolai didn’t entertain. He just watched him eager to separate his head from the rest of his body. The father sighed. You don’t understand that you are debt. Nora took you from us from me and now she must pay. Unfortunately for you you’re stuck between two options. Nepolai didn’t know what debt the father was talking about but he didn’t care. He was sure wants this was all over Nora would be dead to him anyway.
A man crept into the room. He slid one of his hands over Bexley’s for head pulling her head back to exploit her neck. The father smiled looking past Nepolai. Somehow he knew Nepolai was never going to kill his friends. He just wanted him to watch his friends die in front of him. Aubri looked over at her sister in a man anchoring a blade over Bexley’s neck. She well beneath the duct tape. Screaming for help. Nepolai looked over his shoulder and seen the guy from the dinner party sliding Bexley’s blade across her neck splattering blood across the room and onto his close. Even his face manage to attract her blood. Aubri moaned in agony as she washed her sister fall to the ground bleeding out into the red carpet. She fell joining her sister on the ground screaming in to the duct tape.
All my God! Rylan yelled weeping. Tears filled Nepolai’s eyes and became red and wide. He knew what he seen but couldn’t believe it. His breathing was deep and long while His hand tightened around the knife in his body filled with rage. How could this girl who he met only weeks ago and try to manipulate him caused so much pain. Greater than the pain of realizing he killed his own family. Because although he did do something so sinister as a child it was in the past in a part of him he believed that eventually he could move on from it. But Bexley was here right now. She was a friend nonetheless and she didn’t deserve it. Her sister didn’t deserve to watch her sister be slaughtered. Nepolai felt the heavy sense of guilt. He thought about all the ways the situation could’ve been avoided and how maybe if he had just let Bexley turned him in she was still be alive. Her sister would be dead and she wouldn’t have to go through the pain of watching her sister and bleed out. Nepolai’s nose flared. He tossed the knife in the air and grabbed it by its blade. Without hesitation he flung it at the father like a dart and stabbed him in the chest. It was so fast that Nepolai didn’t realize the blade had left his hand. The father fell back into the his bookshelf. Both of them had been surprise. The father’s eyes popped out of his sockets with his hands over and around the blade not sure if he should pull it out or not.
The guy from the party rushed out of the room. Leah grabbed the father’s gun from his desk and clocked it. A loud bang filled the room. The man from the party fell to the ground barely making it from the room.
We need to get out of here before anyone else shows up. Leah said. The father slid down from the bookshelf holding the blade in his chest. He had became more fatigue by the second. Nepolai realized just how good he got the father. The blade was lodged in his heart. It had to be he thought. Nepolai dashed to Bexley’s body and felt for Paul’s desperately hoping that she was still there. There wasn’t one. She laid there with her mouth still covered in tape and her eyes wide open never getting a chance to close. There was no doubt that she was gone. No possible way to save her it was way too much blood. He glanced over at Aubri and for second it looked like she had died to. She was still crying but she didn’t make it sound. He ran over to the father and pulled the blade from his chest. He cut Rylan’s zip tie first and then Aubris. Aubri screamed finally able to let her heart out. She punched against Nepolai helping her up.
You did this! You fucking did this! Oh my God! My baby! Aubri cried.
But he already knew and He didn’t care if she blamed him. He thought she could do whatever she wanted to him to after what happened but right now they needed to go.
Chapter 26
detective Lane didn’t know how long she would be able to wait for backup. She recognize the black SUV that took Rylan but she wasn’t hundred percent sure it was the one she saw but if it was she was risking a girl’s life. She was planning on meeting with detective Lane because she had evidence regarding Madison’s death and she knew who the killer was. It would’ve been a breakthrough they needed that will lead to Gibbs his freedom.
Detective Lane thought it wouldn’t do any harm if she went and look around the SUV and maybe even the house. She popped the door open and slammed it. Lane’s head jumped over her shoulder. A large thumb came from behind her she thought maybe it was somebody closing the door but she seen no one. Before she took another step forward headed to the mansion she heard a thump again but this time he didn’t stop. She followed thumping to a car parked across the street from the mansion. The thumb grew louder the closer she got to the truck. She pulled her gun out and tried the driver door it was locked but the window was down enough for her to stick her arm in and pull the door open from the inside. She popped the trunk and inched closer waiting for whatever was in there to pop out. The trunk flung open and a man started to climb out
Don’t move! She said. He froze with a gun pointed at his back. Slowly get out of the trunk and then lay on your stomach. She ordered him.
Listen this is all a mistake some bitch eight me up and meet me get in the trunk! the man yelled.
Detective Lane lowered her gun at the familiar voice. Eric? She asked.
Lane? Eric said looking over her shoulder. Lane put the gun backwards holster and took out a knife. She cut the zip ties over his hands. Thank God you hear. He said
geez what the hell you doing and trunk? Lane asked.
Like I said some bitch was away in and my parents house. There’s no doubt she’s working with Nepolai. He said.
Who is she? Lane asked.
Some girl who I have a class with. Her sisters been ill for a long time and it turns out she needed a heart transplant. You see the connection? He asked.
So you’re saying a girl from your class had Nepolai kill your mother for her heart? Why her? She asked.
I don’t know collateral damage? He asked. Were are we? He asked.
I’m not sure. Rylan the friend of your father’s first victim was supposed to be meeting with me she had evidence that suggested Nepolai was a killer. But when I was going to pick her up she looked like she was being forced into a SUV that let me here. She said pointing across the street. I’m not sure if that’s it but my gut tells me that it is.
That sounds like exactly what we need to get my dad out. Why haven’t you gone and yet? He asked.
I been waiting on backup this whole time and I don’t have enough probable cause. She said. Eric looked at the car he was stuck in.
You just pulled me out of the trunk of a girl who’s working with Nepolai as parked outside a mansion with an SUV you believe took this girl Rylan. Should net be your probable cause sounds like a lot for me? He asked. He was right but she still wasn’t sure afraid of losing her job. Maybe she would’ve she wasn’t on duty. Eric shook his head and stormed across the street and up to the mansion.
Lane followed after him. What you doing? She asked watching Eric try to open the door. You can’t going there!
Like I said that’s Bexley’s car so if she’s here there is a chance that Nepolai is to! Were not just going to wait. If what Nepolai said was true earlier when we were at Rylen’s house that means somebody is going to die. Are you seriously willing to wait for someone to lose their life? Eric asked. She didn’t respond
she thought about it and she didn’t. Not if it meant somebody’s life was at risk.
Plus I’m a civilian right so of your that afraid of losing your job you can just say you were coming after me for trespassing. So you want to give me a hand or not? Eric asked.
Lane stood next Eric. Kick on three she said. One. To. Three! She said. The door flung open knocking against a wall on the inside. Eric rushes in the house and Lane follows behind pulling her gun out when she sees a man laying unconscious next to a flight of stairs. Lane runs to the man in checks for Paul’s. He’s going. She looked over her shoulder and seen another man laying in a pool of blood sticking out the hallway.
Shit. Eric said. A moan Echo down from the second floor. Lane crouched up from the body and looked up the flight of stairs. Stay behind me. She said. The cry was faint. Eric followed Lane up the staircase and waited for the cry not sure which direction he came from. She took a right at the top of the stairs and intern left at the corner. The cry was much clear at the end of the hall they seen a body laying at the end of the hallway and another further in the room with their hands zip tied behind her back.
Eric ran behind detective Lane to the room checking every corner they passed cautious if anybody had heard them kick down the front door. The man at the end of the hall had a bullet lodged in the back of his head there was no doubt he was dead. Eric crept over the body and recognize who had been laying zip tied in the room.
Eric stumbled back terrified. Although he did say when he was free he was going to kill her he realize how empty his threat was to her. It’s Bexley. He said.
Oh thank God please help me! Please! The woman who had been crying yelled.
Rylan? Detective Lane asked crouching behind her.
Eric couldn’t hear the woman’s plea he just stood there watching Bexley lay lifeless in the puddle of her own blood. His body throbbed it felt as though his blood had been pumping harder than usual. He never thought he would see something so horrific.
Lane watched Eric with his back against the door as she took out her knife to cut the girls that tie. She never seen them like this but she wasn’t surprised. He was just a kid and didn’t need to be exposed to death like this.
Thank you! Rylan said rubbing her wrists free. Lane seen a hand laying behind the desk from her Paris feel.
Stay with Eric. Lane directed her back. She inched closer towards the desk and seen a man bleeding from his chest. She crossed over him and placed her fingers at the top of his neck. It’s faint but he had a pause. She pulled out her phone and out dispatcher. I need a bus! 512 address lane!
Detective Lane spent the next half hour interviewing Rylan in the back of the ambulance as they checked her out to make sure nothing was seriously wrong with her. She could tell Rylen was exhausted and wanted to get her on away as soon as she could.
The guys who took me were the same guys who had showed up to Madison’s funeral. Our at least one of him was. She said.
You said on the phone that you knew who killed Madison? Lane asked.
Rylan took a phone from her back pocket and handed it to detective Lane. Yeah she said almost falling back into tears. I found it in Nepolai’s dresser the other night. His number is in her phone and I don’t know how it got there. She said. Rylan watched body bags trailed out the mansion. She was surprised at how many other people were dead.
Listen I need to know about what happened in her room. She said. Was Nepolai in their? She asked.
Yeah. She said. The guy you found behind the desk was telling Nepolai that he had to kill us or he would. The people who took me caught him the father.
The father? Lanes arson eyebrow.
Yet the father. She said
Anyway It didn’t seem like Nepolai wanted to do it. That’s when a man came in and. She paused choking on her voice. Her killer her. She said.
The man we found outside the door? She asked. Rylan nodded.
And what happened to him? Lane asked. A frowned grew on Rylan’s face. She was trying her best not to break down again but it was hard for her.
She shot him. She said.
Who is she? Lane asked.
I don’t know. No one ever said her name. If they did I was too scared to catch it. After Nepolai through a knife in the father’s chest the three of them left.
Who was the third person? Lane asked. She got Nepolai and the woman who shot John Doe on head but didn’t see any evidence of a third person.
It was a girl maybe a little older than me I doubt by much. She said she was tied up with me in the girl next to me. I think they might’ve been close. She said.
What did you say that? Lane asked.
Because when the guy killed her I could tell how hurt she was. She was devastated even more than I was. I don’t know it just seemed like they were. She said.
/>
Excuse me Lane said. Eric pulled Lane to the side.
How she doing? He asked.
She’s a little shaken up but I think she’ll get through it. She said. It’s not everyday that you and up sleeping with the person who killed her best friend. She said.
There was one thing that have been bothering her. Rylan said that all three had left but they didn’t see anyone leave the house. How did they get out the house? she thought.
Yeah that sucks. He said rubbing and pinching his for head. What about the information she had to help my dad get out of jail? He asked.
She was quiet for a minute. It’s a start though. It’s enough to get a warrant for Nepolai’s house and bring him up on charges for the murder of Madison but will have to see where it goes from there. Right now it’s not enough to get Gibbs out but at least we know who Nepolai really is. Lane had no doubt the chief would start up an investigation into Nepolai but Eric didn’t seem so enthusiastic. She didn’t want him to sure they now had a reason to investigate Nepolai she just wasn’t so sure it would lead to the freedom of Gibbs.
