Erotic, for adults, 18+ only
Being a military wife is never easy. I can tell you right off the bat. My boyfriend, Daniel, was a sniper in Afghanistan for one and a half years. Each time the door bell rang, my heart sank. I worried someone might show up to deliver the devastating message.
I have a good reason to worry. In our small town, we have many military families. Boys finish high school and then join the Army. They are patriotic. Meanwhile, this is a great opportunity to get the money to go to college or find a good job in a big city.
Daniel and I lived on the same street. In high school, we had been planning to have our family. Daniel liked kids. His dream was to buy a van and have five kids. But I had a slightly different idea. I wanted to find a job first. A good job. My dream was to have a fabulous job in a big city like New York or Chicago. This way, my kids would have great opportunities for their education and entertainment.
But this was almost impossible for me—a girl living in a small town with only a high school education.
Daniel decided to join the Army when we were seniors. He looked into my eyes and said, “Meg, this is a great opportunity for us.”
I was totally shocked. I knew what that meant. He might go to war in a far away country. Anything could happen out there.
“Daniel, no.” I held him tightly, sobbing.
“Meg, I will be careful.”
“You know that’s bullshit, Daniel. You know that.”
“Meg, not every soldier has to fight. Not everyone is in the front line.”
“Daniel, I’m scared.” I rested my head on his chest. I could hear his heart beating. “Promise not to leave me, Daniel.” I almost begged.
But Daniel decided to go. “Meg, wait for me. I will come back in one piece.” He smiled. But I could see the uncertainty in his eyes. This was the first time I saw his eyes not so sure, not so confident.
The first letter came. I ran to my room and closed the door. It read:
Meg,
We are now in Afghanistan. We are fighting the evil. I’m glad I’m fighting for the justice and peace.
Our brigade had a couple engagements recently. But I was not involved. My job was to collect information.
Love you and miss you. Millions of Kisses. Take care…
Daniel
Thank God! I felt so much better. I couldn’t figure out what kind of information he was collecting. But I was quite sure he must be doing some high-tech job, sitting in a big room far away from the front line.
That day, I saw the bluest sky in my life. I heard the birds singing so beautifully.
However, my world was turned upside down when an Army boy on our street came back for vacation and told me what Daniel was doing. He was a sniper.
I knew what a sniper was supposed to do—to kill bad guys from far away. But I was shocked to learn Daniel was actually sent to penetrate the enemy front lines to observe and report via radio.
“Well, we didn’t see each other often. I met Daniel a few times in the FOB. He looked pretty cool.” The Army boy tried to make me feel good.
But that didn’t make me feel good at all.
If you watch the war on TV, you are getting the wrong information. Regardless of it’s in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, or wherever in the world, the war means the loss of your loved ones. In a year, I had attended three funerals. In one of them, I saw a young lady with a baby and a toddler. She could barely stand.
I had nightmares almost every day. They were all about Daniel. I prayed sincerely for only one thing: My Daniel coming back to me safely.
Daniel did finish his Army service and come back safely. He had a few scars from bumping into branches and rocks in the dark. He also had burn marks on his arms from hot bullet casings. Other than that, he was totally okay.
Time flew by. One week, one month, and then two months. We enjoyed every day together. Then came the wedding.
“Meg, let’s go to L.A.” My new groom said one day.
“Why L.A.?”
“Because my buddy is there.”
“You mean the guy in the same army unit?”
“Yes, we are brothers.” Daniel’s eyes brightened.
I could tell he was really excited. He must have a great relationship with this buddy.
“Okay.” I rest my head on his shoulder. “But are you sure you can find a good job there?”
“This is the best part, Meg,” Daniel gave me a kiss. “He has a close friend who can give me an excellent job.”
“Really?” I was so delighted.
Daniel’s buddy met us at the airport. “Hey…” The guys hugged each other really hard. “Meg,” Daniel waved his hand. “Come over to meet my buddy, Aleks.”
“Nice to meet you, Alex,” I extended my hand.
“Nice to meet you, Mrs. Williams,” Alex extended his hand, too.
“Megan,” I said. “Please call me Meg.”
Alex turned to Daniel, “Can I?”
Daniel hit his chest and laughed, “Are you kidding me, Aleks? Of course.” Daniel turned to me and then said, “By the way, his name spells as A, L, E and then K and S for kiss.”
“What?” I was a bit confused. “A, L, E, Kiss?”
The men burst into laughter. Aleks wiped his tears. “Oh, man, Meg is the most creative wife I ever met.”
“Am I?” I tried to sound so innocent.
They laughed really loud, like wolves howling under the full moon.
“Let’s get moving,” said Aleks. He rushed outside and then barked, “Taxi!”
After about forty minutes, we arrived at a condo. We followed Aleks to walk into the building and then enter the elevator.
Soon, we reached the sixteenth floor. We turned a few times and stopped at the room 1608.
Aleks opened the door, “Please…”
This is a one bedroom apartment. The floor seemed to be vacuumed recently. But I still see newspaper scattered on the floor, mixed with two large pizza boxes, and a few paper cups.
I fully understood. When Daniel lived by himself, his room was a thousand times messier. And it smelled like… shit.
“Aleks, you definitely need a wife,” Daniel teased.
“To share my pizza?” Aleks grinned. He grabbed all the garbage and tossed them into a blue recycle box. “Sorry, Meg.”
“No problem,” I smiled and looked around. I tried to say something nice. “Hmmm, a typical man’s room. Impressive.”
“You like it?” Aleks asks.
“Yeah?” I was not sure what he meant.
“It’s all yours.” Aleks smiled.
“You mean we'll stay here for the night?” I asked.
“No,” Aleks said. “You stay here until you find your place.”
“Aleks,” I said.
“Don’t worry about him,” Daniel grinned. “He can find a better place than a cave to stay.”
Brothers. Was that how close they had become?
Thanks to Aleks’ help, Daniel lands a great
job as a business analyst.
I’m watching a soap opera when Daniel rushes in. “Meg, I got the job!”
“Really? Thank God!” I’m so glad. I jump up and give him a big kiss.
“See, this is the employment contract,” he pulls out a piece of paper. “See the payment. And the benefits.”
I can’t believe what I see. They are way beyond what I can ever dream. In our town, if someone is making thirty grand a year, he is rich. But these numbers. They make me dizzy. The dental coverage alone is over four thousand dollars. They even pay for sunglasses. Plus, Daniel gets three week paid vacation. Can you believe that?
“Daniel, did you get this job from Aleks’ best friend?”
“Yup,” Daniel nodded.
“He is an exegu..tive of the company?”
“Executive,” Daniel corrected me.
“You are going to work for him?”
“Yup.”
Oh my gosh. I jump around. I am so excited. “Daniel, we have to thank Aleks for all his help.”
“He’s my brother.”
“What do you mean?”
“Brother helps brother.”
“But still…” I think for a few moments. “How about we have him over for dinner this Sunday.”
“Sure,” Daniel smiles, pulling out his cellphone.
In fact, Aleks has been at our place for the Sundays many times. Usually, he comes around lunch time and stays until midnight.
The men talked about the war all the time. They got so involved, they totally forgot about me. I was not interested in their talking anyway. So, it didn’t really matter.
They talked about weird things, too. Like spotter, targets of opportunity, force multiplier, stalk, whatever. These guys must be pretty sneaky in the mountains.
One thing I did understand was “camouflage”. Many bugs could do that. I knew for sure. But men like these huge? No way. They must be kidding me.
At least I knew Daniel couldn’t do that. At home, he was always busy to eat, drink; go pee, go poop; yawn, burp; hug me, kiss me, sexually “assault” me... He couldn’t stay in one place for thirty seconds. Seriously. How could he camouflage himself like a straw man and stay still?
They kept talking and drinking. I didn’t know Daniel could drink so much. “My brother taught me.” Daniel was very proud of himself.
“Good grief,” I shook my head.
In fact, Daniel didn’t really learn the ‘drinking skill’ well from Aleks. Thank goodness he didn’t. After a while, Daniel would get so drunk and begin to snore. He might wake up after an hour or so, and then continue drinking again.
As usual, Aleks comes with a big bottle of Vodka and some salty meat.
“Come on in, Aleks,” I open the door and smile.
“Thank you, Meg.” He comes in. “Daniel, see what I got today.” He sounds so excited.
Daniel comes over, “Oh, man, is this the Vodka from Kazakhstan?” Daniel's eyes round.
“You bet,” Aleks smiles like a little kid. “I stole it from my grandpa’s wine cellar.”
“Good job,” Daniel grabbed Aleks’ shoulder.
The men begin the dinner (well, it’s actually only three thirty in the afternoon) with a few shots. Their cheeks get all red.
“Cheers!” Aleks says loudly. “For the new job.”
“Cheers!” I take a sip of my beer. “Aleks,” I say sincerely. “Thank you so much for helping Daniel get this job.”
“Don’t mention it,” Aleks grins. “Daniel is my brother. He saved my life.” He takes a look at Daniel and then adds, “Of course, I saved his, too. Cheers!”
“Cheers!” Daniel and I say.
“In Siberia,” Aleks leans back. “Oh, I forgot to mention, my grandparents were from Russia.”
“You mean the Red Russia?” I ask.
“Yes, the USSR.” Aleks smiles. Then, he asks, “Do you know what Aleks means?”
I shake my head.
“It means ‘man’s defender’, the ‘warrior’.”
“Oh.” I didn’t know his name is so special. I look at him. He is well built. Too well built, I would say. His muscles are too bulky.
Aleks is a body trainer. He offers personal training to the celebrities in L.A. It’s a family business he inherited. He has people working for him. He offers the training himself, too.
Daniel told me Aleks had a nick name in the army—Bear. “And that,” added Daniel. “Is short for ‘Black Bear’.”
Definitely he is a big bear. He is muscular and bulky. He is hairy, too. I don’t know if every Russian has long body hair. But for anyone with the kind of long hair he has, I’m quite sure he is definitely a Russian—or one side of his mom or dad, at least.
Now, the bear is becoming really excited. He keeps saying, “Cheers! Cheers!” He takes shot after shot. Daniel tries to catch up. But soon, he slows down. He looks sleepy. I go into the bedroom to fetch a blanket. I come back and see Daniel sleeping, resting his head on the table, snoring lightly.
I put the blanket on his back. “Want some tea?” I ask.
“Yes, please.” Aleks says.
The tea is pretty hot. Aleks takes a sip and lets out a long breath. “Good tea.”
“Aleks, you said Daniel and you saved each other’s life. When did that happen?”
“Oh, I don’t really remember.” He thinks for a while and waves his hands. “Several times anyway.”
I shake my head. I don’t want to know the details. But I know they must have been under great danger. I look outside, thinking two men walking in the mountains slowly, and then a bullet zooming by, or several…
“Um, okay,” Aleks clears his throat and says, “It was not always dangerous. We had fun, too.”
“Fun? You mean, having fun behind the enemy front line?” I shake my head. I just can’t believe it.
“Sure, why not?”
“What kind of fun did you have?” I’m curious.
“Talking dirty,” Aleks says and then adds right away. “Oops, sorry.”
“Okay.” I smile.
“And we watched girls.”
“Are you serious?” I look at him. “I thought you guys were hiding all the time.”
“Oh, sure.” He grins. “But we can see far away from the scope.”
“You used your weapon to watch girls?” I tilt my head. I was really amused.
“Yup. Those girls. They were beautiful.” His eyes round.
“Did you…” Suddenly, I felt jealous. “Get really close to these girls?” Then, I add quickly, “I mean, Daniel.”
“Ah, that,” Aleks takes another shot, rolls his eyes, and then mumbles, “No.”
“Why not?” I feel he is hiding something.
“Because,” he cocks his head. He’s now only a few inches from me. I lean back. Aleks looks around as if he is looking for something. “You have to be really careful. I mean, really.”
“Really?” I don’t get it. “Are they going to kill you?”
“No.” Aleks sits back. “They torture you. You’re lucky if they kill you right away.”
Oh my gosh! I thought ‘keep the last bullet for yourself’ was only for movies. I turn pale.
Aleks smiles. “Sorry, Meg. Did I scare you?”
I nod.
“I’m sorry, Meg. I’m really sorry.” Aleks mumbles. Soon, he begins to snore, too.
It seems this Kazakhstan vodka is really strong.
I grab another blanket from the bedroom and put it on Aleks’ back.
These two men are so different. But they get along so well.
Daniel is skinny and quiet. Most time, he sits there and thinks.
Maybe that’s why he got a job as a business analyst. I’m not sure what a business analyst does. But I know it must require a lot of thinking.
How about Aleks? To be honest, I really don’t know the man. He is big. He has muscles. He likes to drink. And, of course, he treats Daniel like he is his true brother.
Each time he breaths in, the m
uscles on his body and neck pop up. They look full of strength.
How would that feel to be hold onto that muscular chest by the huge arms?
Oh, gosh! Meg. What’s going on? I’m really scared by this thought. What happened? I flush. Is it because he saved Daniel’s life? Or is it because of his powerful body? I really don’t know. I hate myself.
