THE BAITYLOS: METEORITE CULT-STONES A PATH OF ZIQ’EL

The Watcher invoked by the name Ziq’el (Ezeqeel) has associations with the lore and wisdom of the Baetylus (Betyl), the meteorite stones fallen from the sky and embodied and endowed with life. In the Ancient Near East and in the Greek world, stones that fell to earth were considered symbols and deified objects having spiritual connections with the gods. Not all cult-stones were meteorites, some of the Canaanites, Phoenicians, Greeks and “forbidden practices” of pre-Torah Jewish practices used stones which were consecrated and were dwelling objects of a deity. The Watcher Arakiel (The Earth is Mighty) is also invoked in the consecration spell as his domain in the earth and its signs.

In the ancient world, shooting-stars in their brilliant and brief streaks of light across the nocturnal sky were a sign of good omen, while meteorites crashing down could be illomens. Once fallen, meteorites were attributed with divine agency, a type of sky-god or another type of deity with essence incarnate in the stone.

A famous Greek meteorite which fell at Aigos Potamos in 405 B.C. is associated with the cult of the Dioskouroi. The story describing the stone is as follows:

“Before the stone fell, for seventy-five days in succession, there was seen in the sky a fiery body of vast size like a flame-colored cloud, not resting in one place but borne along with intricate and irregular motions, so that fiery fragments broken from it by its plunging and erratic course were carried in all directions and flashed fire like so many shooting-stars. However, when it had sunk to earth at that point and the inhabitants, recovering from their fear and amazement, had come together, no effect or trace of fire was to be seen – only a stone21.”

The neo-Platonic philosopher Isidoros who lived in Athens around 485 A.D. has magical knowledge of the Baitylos as recounted in Damaskios ‘Life of Isidoros’: “At Heliopolis in Syria Asklepiades made the ascent of Mount Libanos and saw many of the so-called baitylia or baityloi…the Baitylos moved through the air.” The Baitylos fell to earth as a globe of fire, appearing with a fiery lion standing beside the stone, vanishing with the fire quickly. The man who found it, Eusebios took the stone asked to which of the gods it belonged. The reply was ‘Gennaios’, the “Noble One”. After, Zeus Gennaios was worshipped as a source of power in the Temple of Zeus at Heliopolis with a lion-shaped object associated with the Baitylos. The stone had divinatory powers and was thought by some to be the abode of a Daimon.

The Cult of Kybele, the Dark Mother of ancient Phrygia in Asia Minor was associated with a Baitylos in her cult around Pessina in Galatia. This stone also, fell from the sky and was described as a black substance with rough and projecting angles. This stone was said to offer protective power for 1,000 years and was even taken to Rome.

The Omphalos of ancient Greek and Hellenistic religion was an object of power, representing the center or ‘navel’ which was given originally to Cronus. Apollo (the New Testament Apollyon and Abaddon, King of the Bottomless Pit symbolic of the Omphalos of which the deity held power over) sought out Python, the monstrous dragon-serpent, who was given watch over the Omphalos at Delphoi by Gaia. Apollo slayed Python and became the God of Oracles and divine visions.

21 The Cult of Meteorites, pg. 886, see Zeus, Arthur Cook. Betyls were widespread from Phoenicia to even Carthage. The Canaanites had an altar-stone of Baal on Mount Carmel. The Phoenician writer Philo of Byblos recorded in the Second Century A.D. that the deity Baitylos was the son of Ouranos (Heaven) and his mother Ge (Earth). The god Ouranos created baitylia which are “animate stones”. Cult-stones were sat upon altars or thrones in temples by the Canaanites prior to Alexander the Great. The Triad grouping of Betyls in ancient Syria was a common practice, each stone was an object of dwelling for a deity.

Early Christians so detested the meteorite Baitylos and cult objects that over time most them were destroyed by the ‘peaceful’ Christians. Meteorites were used in cultic practices and worshipped at Seleucia-in-Pieria, Emesa and Diocaesareia in Cilicia. During the time of the Neo-Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar prior to the conquest of the Persian Cyrus after his death, Cult-stones and altars are used on seals22. In Phoenician and Syrian triads, there were a consistent ‘type’ which embodied their dwelling place in Betyls. They are simply the God of Storms, the Goddess of the Heavens and a God of Fertility and Regeneration.

During the Hellenistic period, specifically with the Seleucid king Antiochos IV (175-164 B.C.), introduced the so-called ‘forbidden and obscene rites’ to the Jewish Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem after a political rebellion which gave rise to zealots including Judas Maccabeus. Judas lead a struggle against the Hellenized Jews who were supported by the Seleucids. Antiochos considered the Torah was a major issue with this continued problem, thus he had the Triad of Cult-Stones placed within the temple.

22 I Maccabees, a New Translation with Introduction and Commentary by Jonathan A. Goldstein, pg. 152 The First deity was Zeus, Athene and Dionysos. Athene is identified in Syria with the Phoenician goddess Anath, the “Mistress of the Lofty Heavens” and consort of Zeus-Baal or Aliyan-Ba’al at Ugarit. Baal, like Yahweh, is known by the cult epithet of “Rider of the Clouds”. The third deity introduced manifest in a meteorite stone was Dionysos, god of renewal, liberation, fertility and regeneration with an instinct towards wild Bacchic frenzy. Dionysos is identified with the Phoenician healing god Eshmun, discussed above as the revealed name of Semyaza.

ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION The Cultic Triad Stones of the Watchers

Luciferians have a wealth of knowledge and are only limited by the imagination. Exploring different techniques and methods of practicing Magick and Sorcery is often an inspiring and illuminating journey into the inner-workings of the mind and the dreaming “Eye” from which your Daemon looks unblinking outward. Some practices will have little or no interest, however there might be something you are willing to explore which could be a gateway towards your Apotheosis. The best rule to follow is to trust your instincts, without restraint in the ritual chamber throw your passion into the unity of Will, Desire, Belief and explore with a purpose!

For those who do not have the opportunity, desire or space for statues (let alone try finding a statue associated with Fallen Angels: they are few and far between), the resourceful Luciferian might create or find objects such as an aesthetically pleasing stone or tool which might become a focus-point for a Deific Mask. You just need your imagination and a small amount of artistic creativity.

This section is titled “Abomination of Desolation” in honor of Seleucid king Antiochos IV whose introduction to the Triad of Cult-Stones and Hellenistic ceremonials in the temple of Jerusalem (after the unrest began). Antiochos IV has always been an ideal model for which my work with Luciferianism took modern shape. A balance of articulated, intelligent art and syncretic culture in Hellenic and Syrian cities and a merciless brutality to those deemed enemies and criminals to the Seleucid encouragement of seeking cultural self-excellence. Nature is cruel and so too must the Luciferian understand and maintain consistent balance between creation and destruction in this life.

If you seek to explore the consecration and establishment of Cult-Stones for your practice, then simply trust your instincts! Go to a place where you might find interesting or suitable stones, rocks or objects which you can visualize being prepared as an earthly dwelling and point of focus for the energy of a Deific Mask. Keep in mind, this very power is not beholden to an object, but has a foundation first within you! The object may have specific power and energies dwelling within it, but the Witch or Warlock is the key to controlling and directing that towards tangible goals or attaining spiritual insight.

Find the Cultic-Stones (three are suggested, each for a different Watcher) which you can artistically paint, anoint and consecrate with the Names and Sigils of Power. This whole process is a practice of magick and strengthening the “bridge” between your Daemon, your conscious self and the Deific Mask.

&nb
sp; Choose the Deific Mask as an overall focus of your state of being now and short-term desires spiritually. This initiatory practice will enhance the understanding that with Will, Desire and Belief, all the Sorcerer actually needs is his or her self.

  1. With a sigil of the Watcher, make a silent invocation and make a statement to seek out a Cultic-Object or Stone for the power of this Deific Mask to in some way reside in. Find the stone which you instinctively choose and do not second guess your decision.

  2. Depending on the elemental association of the Watcher and office of power, gather herbs and planetary oils/incense to consecrate the Betyl. Choose the color of paint (if you wish) and determine the basic inscriptions you will make on it.

  3. Invoking the Watcher, then begin as time permits in preparing the Betyl by painting and inscribing/writing the Names and Epithets of the Watcher upon it. During the process, visualize the Fallen Angel, their powers and guidance and that energy rising in you and directed to the Cultic-Stone.

  4. As the last step, invoke the Watcher and visualize that power and spirit centered in this life-inspiring Betyl while consecrating it in herbs, blood (if you use your own), incense resin and ritual oils to consecrate it to the Deific Mask. Place upon your altar after completion.

  5. For a pre-determined time of perhaps two weeks to one month, keeping mindful of the proper time and focus, burn incense and focus that energy towards what you seek from the Watcher by a very simple act. When you look upon the Abomination of Desolation (the Betyl), imagine a combination of the Watcher/Deific Masks image and power with what you seek clearly coming to pass. Feel the emotion of the calm of having achieved it and confidently believing it without doubt.

SPELL OF CALLING DOWN THE WATCHER

I honor and offer fumigation (incense) to Ziq’el and Arakiel, whose guidance bestows objects and Seats of Power for which the Mighty Angels of Joy and Knowledge brought to humanity! I have prepared this object to be a dwelling-place of your illuminated power [name Watcher], hear me Watcher and Mighty Power which is not forgotten! I call you forth, rise and ascend to bestow your divine Spirit of Black Flame in this prepared Betyl before me.

[Name Watcher], I have anointed, prepared and consecrated this dwelling-place wherein the union of Daemon, Sorcerer and Watcher shall be as One! Be it ever so!

  [End of Consecration]

TRANSMUTATION CEREMONY OF RAMIEL The Ordeal of the Spirit towards Apotheosis by Blackened Fire and Frost

Successful and consistent evolution towards Apotheosis in Luciferianism requires practical experience concerning both establishing balance and overcoming challenges in both a spiritual and physical sense. This meditation and visualization ceremony is derived from 2 Enoch (Slavonic) as described in this story from Enoch astral-dream journey. This Northern region is a frightful place in which cruel angels torture socalled practitioners of witchcraft, enchantments, divination, trafficking with demons and predatory conquering of others. Luciferians view these sacred arts and tools of power and wisdom as symbolic of the importance of balance between creation and destruction. Using the pain of struggle to gain insight and overcoming (conquering) obstacles is essential in the Luciferian Path towards Apotheosis. Perform this ceremony as you deem appropriate and visualize the descriptions in the invocation. As you perform the ceremony, associate the purpose with a challenge or struggle you must experience towards a goal in your life.

I invoke the merciless angels of the Northern abode of darkness, black fire and ice where spirit is tested, tortured and forged in the Adversarial Spirit.

I offer the hellish and chthonic incense of the Underworld to you RAMIEL, great Watcher who holds power over volcanic fires and the ancient darkness of the abode of the dead. To the Northern Region I go forth to a frightful place of

cruel darkness where black fires blaze up from a River of Fire. RAMIEL, guide my Spirit through this darksome abode of your merciless angels who bear instruments of atrocities and torturous weapons.

In this River of Blackened Fire I awaken my Spirit in painful struggle and shall grow strong by the ordeal of Apotheosis. For I shall seize the knowledge and powers of the arts of witchcraft, divination, demonolatry, enchantments and the Black Forge of AZAZEL!

I declare I shall use Thought, Words and Actions with strategic purpose as such is an embodiment of the path of Apotheosis. I am a predator who shall devour the souls of

those who are my enemies and be as benefactor to loyal brothers and sisters. I bow to no gods but honor the Deific Masks and Demons as a part of myself, thus all victories and successes in this life honor the ones whom I hail as guides and teachers upon the

Luciferian Path. This very path of pain and the black fires of the infernal river shall guide me unto your guidance and knowledge, RAMIEL. To reach my limits of mind and body shall I be

shaped in the Forge of AZAZEL in Apotheosis. I shall in times of agony and struggle remember this oath of self-determination beyond the Volcanic Fires of RAMIEL.

By the Oath of Beqa and those Mighty Watchers of old: KASBIEL, SEMYAZA, AZAZEL, RAMIEL witness this anointed invocation of your Celestial Fire transmutation into earthly Flesh, born to be as Nephilim with Witch Blood flowing through my veins!

Within this Dark ruined abode within the North, I am by my own free will with determination entering the River of Fire and forged in the Black Fires of AZAZEL and the conqueror GADREEL. I shall not submit nor fall in submission to the merciless angels who bear great weapons of torture: I shall by my Daemon’s design and Will be transmuted slowly to be elevated in Apotheosis and ecstasies of the Spirit.

By my Mind, Body and Spirit let me rise and conquer the heavens and reign over hell!

  [End of Invocation]

PART TWO: The Devil’s Sabbatic Grail

The ceremonial rites of self-initiation concerning the Spirit Convocation, Cainite Sabbat Ceremonies, the Djinn as initiators of the Black Flame and assumption of the Deific Mask of Baphomet. The Oneiroi are the Unveiling Ones into the Nocturnal Path of dreams.

Chapter 8: The Devil’s Sabbatic Grail: Self-Initiation Rituals and Ceremonies of the Forbidden Light in Medieval Witch Cult Lore

Luciferian Witchcraft is a modern interpretation of initiatic knowledge and power which has descended from numerous traditions. Our philosophy is centered on the Luciferian teachings found from the Triad of the Morning Star: Liberation, Illumination, Apotheosis. The acceptance and struggle to evolve and attain the knowledge passed down from the Watchers in the Book of Enoch. Luciferian Magick is also in part derived from ancient pantheons, sorcery and religions of Babylonia, Egypt, Greco-Roman, Vedic, Persian, Celtic and Norse mythologies.

Our ceremonies and rituals are born from the creative and terrible powers of chaos and primordial darkness. As they are from chaos (as is all that we are and perceive), we deny dogmatic restriction and the term ‘Tradition’ is used loosely. What is passed down within this grimoire may be adapted and made to suit the Luciferian and if working with a coven or affiliated sodality of practitioners.

Luciferianism demands the challenge of results and inspiring the imagination, if something does not work or has been outgrown, discard it and adapt based on your predilection. The Daemon inspires and guides productively when you are engaged and passionate with the tools and psychodrama of your practices. The Adversary brings discomfort in strife and the forge of challenging confrontation, in balance with self-empowerment and the Serpent’s Chalice of spiritual ecstasy.

  The Stigmata Diaboli, Guazzo 1626

INITIATION OF THE WITCH OR WARLOCK Steps and Basic Symbolism

  1. Denial and Self-Liberation of Monotheistic Faith (Christian, Islam, etc.). Rejection should be blasphemous denial of religion imparted upon neophyte in life and culture.

  2.

Baptism with the Stigmata Diaboli and assuming a new magickial name. Symbolic of self-initiation and rebirth. With the left hand, trace an ‘X’ on the forehead. Any tattoo or mark put on the body later is a “Stigmata Diaboli”.

  3. Token offering of a piece of clothing, a robe or cloak then worn as a gift from the “Devil”. Symbolic of the self-determined separation from restrictive beliefs, religious laws and accepting responsibility and authority towards spiritual, corporal, natural and earthly experiences.

  4. Marking a circle around the neophyte, imagined or real, the left hand held up and allegiance sworn to the Devil (Samael, Lilith, Hecate and the Watchers) and honoring Deific Masks as spiritual guides, teachers and benefactors. Neophyte walks Widdershins around the circle. The Circle of the Luciferian represents the circumference of the self.

  5. The Name of the Warlock and Witch to be written by the Devil in the Book of Death. Symbolic and real to take up Black Book of Shadows and write magickial name within. All spells and ceremonies will be recorded personally from then forward.

STIGMATA DIABOLI The Mark of the Devil

The Mark of the Devil may be any chosen sigil or design of importance, as a tattoo or small cut somewhere to your preference. The simple invocation and oath is an act of selfdedication towards your unique journey upon the Left-Hand Path and the Luciferian Tradition. The Adversarial Path is unique as our “Law” is to proceed in a spiritually “Lawless” or antinomian fashion.

Luciferian Witchcraft initiation is uniquely fluid in adaptability, the neophyte is expected to adjust and construct from the rituals and ceremonies to become a living expression of the current. Trusting your instinct and inspiring imagination within the ritual chamber or symbolic circle is a prerequisite of the strong-willed and determined witch or warlock. The tradition finds expression uniquely in my grimoires and I am aware that the individual may wish to utilize his or her creativity towards how they practice Adversarial Magick.
