Fake It For Me_A Fake Fiance Romance Page 4

“That much I know,” I said, feeling a sly little smile form on my lips.

What happened next was something I wasn’t expecting, but deep down, I think I was hoping for it. Connor quickly leaned in and planted his lips on mine. The sensation was incredible. A warm rush flowed through me all the way down to my fingertips and toes. I was shocked at first, but quickly fell into it. My lips opened slightly, just enough for his tongue to slip into my mouth and play with mine. And down below, that hot tightness began to build into something I couldn’t ignore.

Then, just as Connor’s hands began to move down my hips, my senses returned. I clapped down my hands onto his shoulders, noting for a brief moment just how thick and solid they were, and I gently pushed him away.

“OK, hotshot,” I said. “I’m drunk, you’re drunk, and I don’t think this is a good idea.”

Connor stood back up straight, tucking a stray strand of blond hair back behind his ear.

“You’re right,” he said. “I think I just got carried away with the moment.”

As much as I didn’t want to admit it, part of me wanted him to ignore every word coming out of my mouth and to put his lips on mine again, this time taking things even further. Glancing down, I saw the tenting of his cock against the fabric of his designer slacks, and memories of just how big and glorious his prick was came flooding back.

“Let me show you your room.”

I quickly nodded and followed Connor back into the apartment. He led me down a hallway and to a small but cozy bedroom with a four-post bed and a lovely view of the other side of Manhattan.

“Anything I can get for you?”

My eyes shot down to his cock for another brief moment, and all manner of naughty answers to his question popped into my mind. Luckily, I keep my head straight.

  “I think I’m good,” I said.

With that, he nodded and headed off, shutting the door behind him. As soon as he did, the events of the day—not to mention the booze—caught up with me, and I collapsed onto the bed and quickly fell into a deep sleep.

  Chapter 5

  Connor

I woke up that next morning with an erection that could cut diamonds. I took a quick look down and saw that I’d apparently stripped down to nothing just before going to bed, and now my cock was pointing straight up at the ceiling, the length throbbing with arousal. I didn’t remember taking my clothes off before hopping into bed—I guess I’d been more worn out from the day than I’d thought.

  The kiss.

It flooded back into my mind, blotting out everything else. I’d done it. I really had. I’d let my attraction get the better of me and planted a kiss right on those sexy fucking lips of Alice’s. And I would’ve taken things further if she hadn’t had the presence of mind to rein it in.

But my cock didn’t care. It was hard as hell and had a mind of its own. Right now it was begging me to rush into Alice’s room, wake her up, and give her the ravishing of a lifetime.

Not a chance, pal, I thought, trying to send a message to my prick to calm things down. My cock wasn’t in the mood to listen, however, and I knew I needed to do something.

So, I reached down, wrapped my hand around my hot, thick length, and closed my eyes.

Instantly I was in a world of my own creation, one where I could do anything I wanted. And what I wanted was what was right before me: Alice, on a bed, wearing nothing but sheer red panties, her heavy breasts exposed, her pink nipples hard and pointy.

“There he is,” she said, a seductive smile on her face. “Wondering when you would show up.”

I glanced down in my mind’s eye and saw that I was just as hard in my imagination as I was in the real world.

Alice sat back, her palms down on the bed. Her ripe, smooth legs were crossed, her pussy hidden from view, her dark brown hair draped down rakishly. Her grass-green eyes flicked down to my cock, which by now was throbbing so hard I felt like it might just come on its own. I stepped toward her, cutting the distance down until my prick was only a few inches from her face. My hands shot down to her thighs to spread them open, but dream-Alice stopped me.

“Not yet,” she said, her eyes turning to my cock. “I’ve missed this guy. Let me and him get a little reacquainted before we get too crazy.”

Fine with me, I thought, slowly stroking my cock in the real world.

Dream-Alice wrapped her slim fingers around me and began to stroke.

“Just as gorgeous as I remember,” she said. “Let’s see if it tastes just as good.”

She dragged her tongue over her lips, getting them nice and wet. Then, she leaned forward and kissed the tip of my head, a shiver of pleasure running through my body at the feeling of her lips on me.

  “Mmm,” she moaned.

Then she opened her mouth and took my whole head inside of her. She closed her lips around the ridge of my head, forming a tight seal and holding fast, letting me enjoy the warm wetness of her mouth. I felt her tongue slip and slide over the curves of the end of my cock as I ran my hands through her hair.

“Yep,” she said, taking my cock out of her mouth. “Just as delicious as I remember.”

She went right back to work. Alice wrapped her lips around my head once again, this time moving her mouth down further, taking every inch of me into her. When she reached the base she glanced back up with seductive eyes and flashed me a wink. I took a deep breath as I moved my hands through her hair.

Alice then moved back up to my end, giving the head just a little more sucking and licking, then letting me drop out of her mouth.

“I don’t know about you,” she said, spreading her legs wide open. “But that’s about all the foreplay I can take. I need you to fuck me, Connor. Fuck me hard and deep, just like you used to.”

The pace of my stroking in the real world was steady and firm, and I knew that it wouldn’t take much more of it for me to shoot the load building in my balls.

Back in the fantasy I took in the sight of Alice in nothing but her panties, a come-hither expression on her face as she sat spread-legged in front of me, my cock pointing right at her. I reached down and slipped a finger under the waistband of her panties, ripping them off effortlessly and tossing them aside, exposing her pussy lips, red and wet and swollen and ready.

I pounced on her like a lion moving in for the kill. Alice fell back onto the bed, her hair splayed out around her angelic face.

“There we go,” she said. “Now give me what I want.”

I reached down and took hold of my prick, pressing the head against her dripping wet cunt for a moment, then plunging it into her.

“Oh, fuck!” she yelled as I shoved every inch into her. “Goddamn!”

The sensation was fucking heavenly. Alice was warm and tight, her lips wrapped around the base of my prick. I didn’t waste any time in reaching a deep, full thrusting pace. Propped up on my arms, I pounded her relentlessly, my eyes alternating between her expression of sensual agony and the sight of her succulent, ripe breasts bouncing back and forth with each penetration.

I glanced down, taking in the sight of her body, taking in the sight of my prick entering her over and over again.

“Oh, you’re gonna make me come,” she moaned. “No one makes me come like you, Connor. No one.”

I felt her hands clap down onto my ass as she guided me into her, pointing my prick in the exact direction that she wanted. My cum rose up in my cock, and I was soon on the verge of exploding. I closed my eyes, focused, and let it go.

“Ah, ah,” she moaned as I fired my load deep inside of her. “Give me it all. Give me every last drop, baby.”

I grunted and winced as I came, the eruption of pleasure almost too much to handle.

“There we go,” she said as my cum filled her.

The real world returned into stark clarity as my orgasm faded. I took a few deep breaths, shaking my head as I glanced down at the sight of my prick, my hand and cock covered in milky-white cum.

As much I wanted to spend
more time in fantasyland, I knew that there was a day ahead of me that wasn’t going anywhere. I hopped out of bed and into the shower, getting myself good and clean after the fun I’d just had. And as I washed my body, I couldn’t help but wonder what the morning was going to be like.

I was soon dressed and ready to go. Once I stepped out into the apartment, however, I noticed just how quiet it was. Then, I spotted the door to the spare bedroom. It was open a crack and I peeked in. Sure enough, it was empty. Alice was long gone.

My phone was on the kitchen counter and I fired off a quick text.

“Leaving so soon? I was going to make pancakes and everything.”

The response came a few moments later.

“Didn’t feel like waiting around. I’ll message you later with the plans for getting the interviews started.”

I typed up a reply, my fingers hesitating over the letters for a moment as I tried to figure out just what to say what I wanted to ask.

  “The plan…still on?”

To be honest, I’d half-expected to find the engagement ring sitting on the dining room table.

“Still on. In it to win it, I guess.”

A smile formed on my lips. Good girl.

I woke up Hunter and got him dressed and ready for the day. Eliza stopped by as I drank my coffee to walk him to school.

An hour or so later I was at the hospital, ready to start the day.

“Morning, Dr. Rex,” said the nurse at the reception desk. “Mr. Hart wants to see you.”

  I froze in place.

“Tell him I’ll be right up.”

I was more than a little curious what Lionel wanted. After all, he’d made the circumstance of the situation more than clear during our last little chat. A tinge of anxiety formed in my gut as I wondered if he was going to tell me that they’d already decided, that Richter, that little prick, was already picked for the position.

“Come in,” called out Lionel from the inside of his office after I gave the doors a quick rap.

I stepped into his office where Lionel was seated at the large, oak desk that dominated the room. He gestured for me to sit down.

“Morning,” I said, slipping into one of the high-backed leather chairs across from him.

“Good morning,” he said. “And…congratulations, I should say.”

He placed his hand on the top of his computer monitor and turned it around. On the screen was a video clip of my date last night with Alice, taken by one of the other patrons in the restaurant.

“Damn,” I said. “News gets around fast.”

“We live in the age of social media,” said Lionel. “You can’t do anything public without everyone knowing about it.”

“Well, cat’s out of the bag,” I said, holding up my palms.

  “You work fast,” he said.

I realized that I needed to choose my words carefully to make sure the ruse went down smooth.

“Her name’s Alice,” I said. “We were an item all the way back in high school. We reconnected a little while back and ended up picking up things right where we left off. After our conversation yesterday I realized that I didn’t really have a good reason for not taking things to the next level.”

“Well,” said Lionel. “I’m happy to know that our chat was just the thing you needed to move in the right direction.”

He clapped his hands together and raised his eyebrows.

“And I want to meet her!” he said. “You’re something of a son to me, Connor, and nothing would make me happier than meeting the woman who’s going to make an honest man out of you.”

  “I’d like that,” I said.

“And the rest of the board feels the same way. How would you feel about a dinner with all of us sometime in the near future? This weekend, perhaps?”

Things felt like they were already getting a little out of hand. But I knew there was no going back now.

“Sounds great,” I said. “I’ll let Alice know.”

“Perfect,” said Lionel. “I’ll let you start your day, then.”

Lionel bid me another congratulations and I was out of the office, wondering just what the hell I’d gotten myself into.

  Chapter 6

  Alice

Back at my apartment, I let out the anger that had been building inside of me since that kiss.

“Fuck!” I shouted into the cramped confines of my studio, my hands shooting to my mouth and my eyes going wide when I remembered just how thin the walls were.

More than anything, I was mad at myself. I couldn’t believe that I’d let myself get so drunk, and to be so stupid as to think that I could put myself so close to Connor without the attraction that I still felt for him bubbling back up. And he should’ve known better, too.

And on top of everything, there was the lie, that stupid little lie that he’d pulled me into. Now, not only did I have the assignment of my career looming ahead, I had to pretend to be his freaking fiancée on top of everything.

I’d told myself that I was going to be cool about this. When my editor gave me the assignment, when I saw that it wasn’t just anyone that I’d be profiling, but Connor freaking Rex, the man who’d broken my heart back when I was a stupid kid, I told myself that it’d be no problem, that it was all years ago, that I was a professional, put-together woman.

All it’d taken was one day with the man to knock down just about every one of those self-deceptions.

I stepped into the bathroom and took a look at the mirror. Time for a pep talk.

“Now you know what’s up,” I said out loud. “So what if you still think he’s hot? Why wouldn’t you? I mean, if anything, he’s even hotter…”

My mind wandered, the image appearing in my mind of his slim, toned body clad in his sharp clothes, a doctor’s white coat hanging off his broad shoulders. I found myself thinking back to our kiss on the balcony, how his cock looked about ready to burst out of his pants at any moment. I felt that tight feeling return, this time accompanied by a wet sensation of arousal.

“Focus, dammit!” I said, bringing myself back into reality. “OK, he’s hot. Big freaking deal. And he’s rich, and successful…”

I found my mind drifting once again. This time, however, I was able to focus again right away.

  “And…he seems like he’s changed.”

That was one of the hardest parts to swallow. The way that Connor was so quick to take responsibility for the difficult situation he’d put me in was more than just a little unlike the Connor I knew in high school. Connor back then was uncompromising and unapologetic. He chewed through girls like popcorn, having his fun with them and tossing them aside when he was bored. And never once did one of those girls, me being one of them, manage to extract anything close to an apology.

I thought back to when he broke up with me, how he acted like I was just some annoying little hanger-on that he didn’t feel like dealing with anymore. How he ripped my heart up and made it seem like it was my fault for thinking what we had was anything more.

So, this Connor, this man with consideration for others, was a new development indeed.

But I wasn’t ready to believe that he’d changed with only this scant evidence as proof. It was equally likely that he was just buttering me up with some diplomatic words to get me to go along with his fake marriage. A leopard doesn’t change its spots, and I wasn’t about to get burned by this guy for the second time, this time in a professional context, by fooling myself into thinking he’d changed.

And then there was the issue of that kid in the picture. Was Connor a father? He hadn’t mentioned it, and neither had my editor. Imagining him as a parent was almost too much.

“Still!” I said, turning my attention back to my reflection. “None of that matters. What matters is that you have a job to do, and you’ve got to be a goddamn professional about it. No getting distracted—just do what needs to be done to finish the job.”

I felt a little bit better. My face in the mirror now wore an expression of determi
nation.

Then, in the other room, my phone rang. I hurried to it and saw that it was Mitch Swift, my editor.

“Morning, Mitch,” I said, heading into my tiny kitchenette to make some coffee.

“Morning, kid,” he said. “Just checking in to see if you’ve managed to connect with Dr. Rex.”

I thought back to the kiss, realizing that, yes, I had managed to “connect.”

“Sure did,” I said, my voice confident. “It took a little finesse, but I managed to get a meeting with him yesterday.”

“Really?” asked Mitch, his tone clearly impressed. “I figured it’d take you at least a week to talk him into it.”

“We went to high school together,” I said, choosing to leave the big details out. “So I leveraged that.”

Not to mention agreeing to a fake marriage.

“Great work,” said Mitch. “Because I don’t want to put too much pressure on you, but I’m expecting something special out of you for this article. I don’t want some little puff piece either. Dr. Rex is really making a name for himself in the medical community here in the city, and he looks poised to become one of the biggest names in cardiac surgery. You get something like this out just before he becomes the name in his field and it’ll be a hell of a coup.”

I opened my mouth to speak, but Mitch wasn’t finished.

“Not to mention something that I and the rest of the editorial board might take into consideration when we’re thinking about just who to promote.”

“No pressure, huh?” I asked with a smirk.

“OK,” he said. “A little pressure. I just want the best out of you, kid. Now, you got anything else to report about the job?”

  Maybe a small detail.

“Nope,” I said. “We’re going to start laying the groundwork for the interview the next time we meet.”

“Perfect. OK, I gotta go. Keep me posted.”

Right as he was finishing, another call came through. It was Connor.

“Bye, Mitch!” I said, my heart skipping a beat.

I took in a deep breath and pressed the “answer” button.

“Morning, Holiday,” he said, his voice low and resonant, sending a shiver up my spine.
