Hearts on Fire Page 16

by Sabrina Wagner

I leaned over and yelled in Tori’s ear, “I’m going to try and find Tyler.”

She gave me a thumbs up. “Chris and I are going to go check out the bar,” she yelled back.

I gave her a thumbs up back and started my search. I was trying to push my way between people, but this place was so crowded. Since I was short it, was hard to see anything even with my tall boots on.

I pushed a few people out of my way, and I finally saw Cody standing with a group of guys. I made my way over to him and tapped him on the shoulder. I yelled up to him, “Have you seen Tyler?”

His eyes went wide. He leaned down to my ear. “Hey, Kyla. I think I saw him go upstairs, let me go see if I can find him.”

“That’s okay. I can go look,” I said.

“No, really, I’ll go,” Cody insisted.

What the fuck! I looked over at the stairs and then back at Cody who had a guilty look on his face. “What the hell is going on, Cody?” When he didn’t answer, I stormed over to the stairs and started running up them. Cody was quick to follow.

He grabbed my arm. “Seriously Kyla, this isn’t a good idea. I’ll find him.”

I shook his arm off and continued up the stairs. All the while, Cody was pleading with me to stop. When I got to the top, I turned and crossed my arms over my chest. I narrowed my eyes at him. “Don’t you dare try to protect him!” I yelled over the music.

I was starting to hyperventilate. This was not good! Obviously, Cody knew something I didn’t. I rushed down the hallway, banging on doors and yelled his name, “Tyler! Tyler, where the fuck are you!” I tried to open some of the doors, but most were locked. I got to the end of the hallway and put my hand on the last doorknob.

Cody reached for my arm, “Kyla, don’t. Just don’t. He’s drunk. It’s my fault!”

I pushed his chest back with both hands, using every bit of strength I had. I opened the door and got the shock of my life.

I heard Tyler’s voice clear as day, “Shut the fucking door! Somebody’s in here!”

I stood there, with my hands over my mouth. I saw his naked body, laying over some equally naked chick. His dick was deep inside her.

  Chapter 42

  Tyler

I was deep inside my girl, when the door swung open. Why the fuck didn’t I lock it? I yelled out, “Shut the fucking door! Somebody’s in here!”

The light from the hall flooded across the bed. I tried to shield her, as I looked toward the door. Standing in the doorway, was Kyla. Her eyes were wide and her hands were covering her mouth.

  “Kyla?”

I looked down at the girl beneath me. I looked in her eyes. Blue. Not green. “It’s actually Madison,” she giggled. I sobered up really quick at the realization.

I jumped off the bed. Kyla turned and ran down the hallway. “Kyla, stop!” I screamed. I quickly found my jeans and tried to pull them on, almost falling over in the process. Once I got them pulled up, I ran from the room. No shirt. No shoes. I ran down the stairs. I saw her blond hair rush out the front door as it slammed shut. I got to the door and opened it, only to see her running down the sidewalk. “Kyla, come back!”

I nearly fell over, as I got pushed to the side. Tori was running after her.

“FUCK!” I screamed out. WHAT THE FUCK HAVE I DONE?

  Chapter 43

  Kyla

I ran down the stairs as fast as I could, nearly falling over anyone who was in the way. I rushed out the front door, and ran down the sidewalk. I could hear Tyler calling to me. The snow was falling heavy and it was fucking freezing. I didn’t care. I just kept running, trying to put as much distance between what I had seen and myself.

I don’t know how far I ran, before I collapsed into the snow. I threw my hands over my head and let out a gut-wrenching scream into the cold, dark night. “Nooooo!” Finally, I just started sobbing right there on the sidewalk. The tears were coming fast, there was no controlling them. It was the ugliest cry I had ever done. I was so broken!

Suddenly, warm arms were around me, hugging me close. “Kyla, what happened?” It was Tori. She cradled me into her and rubbed my back. I just kept sobbing. I couldn’t get the words past the lump in my throat.

Tori continued to hold me. I looked up at her, as the tears streamed down my face. “He was fucking someone else,” I choked out.

  “No!” she exclaimed in disbelief.

  I nodded my head.

“Oh Kyla! I’m so sorry.” She just held me.

I continued to cry, my legs were soaked from kneeling in the snow. My wet hair hung in my face, as the snow continued to fall down on us. I hugged Tori tight and cried on her shoulder. “That’s not even the worst part,” I said quietly.

Tori held me out at arm’s length, and watched me crumble before her. “What do you mean, that’s not the worst part?” she questioned.

I looked her in the eye and revealed my secret that I’d been holding onto for the last few weeks. “I’m pregnant!”

Look for part two of Kyla’s and Tyler’s story in “Shattered Hearts”.
